For this reason, patients with significant cardiovascular disease are recommended ECG monitoring. Conventional 12 lead ECG process involves placing ten electrodes on the patient's limbs and chest. The 12 leads help measure the overall magnitude of the heart's electrical potential from twelve different angles, which is then recorded over a period of time (usually 10 seconds). This is how the overall magnitude and direction of the heart's electrical depolarization is detected at each moment throughout the cardiac cycle. The graph voltage versus time produced by the process is referred to as an electrocardiogram, which is also abbreviated ECG or EKG.＜/p＞＜p＞The electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a noninvasive test that is used to reflect underlying heart conditions by measuring the electrical activity of the heart.
