Fluoroscopy Reduction Techniques for Catheter Ablation of Cardiac Arrhythmias【

Background: Catheter ablation has become a widely used approach to treating various cardiac arrhythmias. Traditionally, catheter ablation procedures are guided by fluoroscopic imaging to help understand catheter position during mapping. The potentially significant exposure to radiation to the patient, physician, and staff increases risks of radiation exposure-related disease. Also, the protective lead garments worn increases risks of orthopedic injury. Current advanced electroanatomic mapping and intracardiac echocardiography technology have allowed the development of endocardial catheter ablation techniques without the use of fluoroscopy safely and effectively. A host of expert and experienced authors present a practical overview of the rationale and methodology for a low- or zero-fluoro environment in the electrophysiology lab with the critical goal of significantly reducing radiation exposure to the patient, physician, and staff. This practical guide: Covers the entire spectrum of commonly (and less commonly) performed ablation procedures via endocardial approach. Discusses general principles that are applicable across ICE and EAM platforms. Will assist the electrophysiologist and their team to safely and effectively work toward the significant reduction in fluoroscopy utilization while also likely improving procedural safety, i.e., fewer complications, after the adoption of these techniques. Includes a library of 50 videos, with 9 extended films (108 minutes) by Dr. Razminia detailing step-by-step procedures and techniques.

"The first volume of The Origins of Ventricular Arrhythmias: Using the ECG as a Key Tool for Localization highlights the value of the 12-lead ECG for the localization of sites of origin or exit sites of ventricular arrhythmias. For this second volume of 30 cases, the author also emphasizes the anatomic relationship of arrhythmia origins by complementing the tracings with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and real-time echocardiographic data that will help visualize the actual location of ablation target sites. The value of appropriate imaging, in addition to the 12-lead ECG, is highlighted throughout. This book will aid in the understanding of the localizing value of the 12-lead ECG for ventricular arrhythmias, which is key for successfully targeting these arrhythmias using catheter ablation."

Electrophysiological Foundations of Cardiac Arrhythmias A Bridge Between Basic Mechanisms and Clinical Electrophysiology【電子書籍】[ Andrew L. Wit ]

This book teaches the fundamental concepts of cardiac electrophysiology with an emphasis on the relationship of basic mechanisms to clinical arrhythmias. Understanding this relationship and the underlying mechanisms of arrhythmogenesis will be valuable to medical students in general and physicians entering the fields of cardiology and clinical electrophysiology, as well as those scientists and clinicians already working in this field.

The book is divided into three parts that cover the major mechanisms of arrhythmogenesis: Part I ? Automaticity, Part II ? Afterdepolarizations and Triggered Activity, and Part III ? Abnormal Impulse Conduction and Reentry. Each part starts with a chapter that describes the basic science principles related to that particular mechanism. Topics include: impulse initiation and rate control, membrane currents, conduction, and the effects of programmed electrical stimulation and pharmacologic agents. Subsequent chapters in each part are organized around examples of clinical arrhythmias and then focus on the relevant EP mechanisms and the characteristic responses to interventions. The characteristics of the three different mechanisms are compared and contrasted throughout the text.

Throughout the book, the aspects of basic EP mechanisms and examples from EP studies and pharmacologic interventions are paired with clinical examples. The end result is enhanced understanding of how EP mechanisms and testing relate to arrhythmogenesis in a way that can be applied broadly to a variety of situations in a clinical setting.

This definitive book also includes:

More than 300 figures, including ECGs and original diagrams that illustrate essential electrophysiology concepts.

Case studies of clinical arrhythmias with explanations of how ECG characteristics and the responses to electrical stimulation denote arrhythmogenic mechanisms.

Interatrial Block and Supraventricular Arrhythmias: Clinical Implications of Bay?s Syndrome【

Bay?s’ syndrome refers to the association between interatrial block and supraventricular arrhythmiasーmainly the occurrence of atrial fibrillation. It is also a risk factor for cardio-embolic stroke. Rapid recognition by analyzing characteristic patterns in the surface ECG will help the physician to closely monitor the patient for atrial fibrillation and decide on anticoagulation therapy if the clinical risk of stroke is increased. Interatrial blocks were described several decades ago; however, they are now gaining the attention of the medical community as a means of helping to identify patients at high risk of developing atrial fibrillation and/or cardio-embolic stroke. I welcome all readers to navigate this book and to become familiar with this concept that is helping to renovate our models of predicting atrial fibrillation and stroke.

Electrocardiography Method (ECG/EKG): A Primary Guideline for Starters to Understand about Arrhythmias & EKG Interpretation【電子書籍】[ Rose Dickens ]

ECG, which stands for Electrocardiography, an electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple test that can be used to check your heart's rhythm and electrical activity. The process uses electrodes to detect the tiny electrical change on the skin that are arisen by the heart muscle depolarizing with each heartbeat. Also referred to as EKG, the test is performed to record the electrical activity of the heart over a period of time.

The cardiac output is an essential cardiovascular event required sustain blood flow throughout the body. Apart from blood volume and contractile strength, the heart must sustain a regular cycle of relaxation and contraction to serve its underlying purpose. A series of complex electrophysiological events within the cardiac tissues predicate this regularity. These events are generally monitored using a device called an electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG). Many prefer EKG to ECG because it's less confusing with EEG, the abbreviated form of electroencephalogram.

Dynamic electrocardiogram monitoring is a standard practice required to provide general anesthesia and deep sedation. Though considerable cardiovascular changes, if occur, can be directly attributed to moderate sedation techniques. For this reason, patients with significant cardiovascular disease are recommended ECG monitoring. Conventional 12 lead ECG process involves placing ten electrodes on the patient's limbs and chest. The 12 leads help measure the overall magnitude of the heart's electrical potential from twelve different angles, which is then recorded over a period of time (usually 10 seconds). This is how the overall magnitude and direction of the heart's electrical depolarization is detected at each moment throughout the cardiac cycle. The graph voltage versus time produced by the process is referred to as an electrocardiogram, which is also abbreviated ECG or EKG.

The electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a noninvasive test that is used to reflect underlying heart conditions by measuring the electrical activity of the heart. By positioning leads (electrical sensing devices) on the body in standardized locations, information about many heart conditions can be learned by looking for characteristic patterns on the EKG.

Finally, I want to say thank you for your downloading. I expect that you can have knowledge about ECG to perform it better in certain time. Cardioversion, A Simple Guide To The Condition, Types, Treatment of Arrhythmias And Related Conditions【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

This book describes Cardioversion, Types and Treatment of Arrhythmias and Related Diseases
Cardioversion is a method to return an abnormal heart rhythm back to normal.
Cardioversion can be given using an electric shock or with drugs.
Electric Cardioversion
An electrical cardioversion, often called a cardioversion, is a method used to treat an abnormal and rapid heart rhythm (also known as cardiac arrhythmia).
The most often treated arrhythmia is atrial fibrillation.
Another rhythm often treated with electrical cardioversion is atrial flutter.
During a cardioversion intervention, an electrical "shock" is given to the chest to return the heart rhythm to a normal pattern.
Electric cardioversion is done with a device (called defribillator) that supplies an electrical shock to the heart to change the rhythm back to normal.
Electrical cardioversion is a synchronized giving of shock during the R waves or QRS complex of a cardiac cycle.
During defibrillation and cardioversion, electrical current moves from the negative to the positive electrode by traversing the myocardium.
It induces all of the heart cells to contract simultaneously.
This disrupts and stops abnormal electrical rhythm.
This, in turn, permits the sinus node to return to normal pacemaker activity.
The shock can be given from a device outside the body called an external defibrillator.
These are present in emergency rooms, ambulances, or some public places such as airports.
Electrode patches are stuck on the chest and back.
The patches are connected to the defibrillator.
Or, paddles connected to the devices are placed directly onto the chest.
The defibrillator is activated and an electric shock is supplied to the heart.
This shock transiently ceases all electrical activity of the heart.
Then it permits the normal heart rhythm to resume.
Occasionally more than one shock or a shock with higher energy is required.
It is normally scheduled in advance but is occasionally also done in emergency circumstances.
Cardioversion is normally given with electric shocks, done through electrodes connected to the chest, while the patient is sedated.
Electric cardioversion takes less time than cardioversion done alone with medicines, and the doctor can immediately see if the procedure has recovered a normal heartbeat.
Chemical cardioversion
Cardioversion is a procedure given to restore an abnormal heartbeat to a normal rhythm.
This procedure is done when the heart is beating very fast or irregular or an arrhythmia.
In chemical cardioversion, medicines are given to get the heart back to a normal rhythm.
1.Flecainide,
2.Dofetilide,
3.Propafenone,
4.Amiodarone or
5.Ibutilide
Cardioversion can be done with drugs that are taken by mouth or given intravenously (IV).
The result from this treatment may be from several minutes to days for the medicine to work.
This treatment is often done in a hospital where the heart rhythm can be monitored
The patient may be given blood thinning medicines to prevent blood clots from developing and leaving the heart (which can cause a stroke).
Before trying chemical cardioversion, the doctor may try to reset the heart rate in other ways:
1.The Valsalva maneuver where the patient holds the breath and increase the pressure in the belly.
This can bring the heart rate down.
The doctor may then use chemical cardioversion to alter the rhythm to normal.
2.If these things fail, electrical cardioversion is the next step.
An implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) is a device that is placed inside the body to detect dangerously fast heartbeats and give a lifesaving shock to correct the heart’s rhythm..

TABLE OF CONTENT
Introduction
Chapter 1 Cardioversion
Chapter 2 Pathophysiology
Chapter 3 Electrical Cardioversion
Chapter 4 Chemical Cardioversion
Chapter 5 Internal Cardioversion
Chapter 6 Abnormal Heart Rhythms
Chapter 7 Cardiac Arrest
Chapter 8 Coronary Heart Disease
Epilogue
