Cosmology The Science of the Universe【電子書籍】[ Edward Harrison ]

Cosmology: The Science of the Universe is an introduction to past and present cosmological theory. For much of the world's history, cosmological thought was formulated in religious or philosophical language and was thus theological or metaphysical in nature. However, cosmological speculation and theory is now a science in which the empirical discoveries of the astronomer, theoretical physicist, and biologist are woven into intricate models that attempt to account for the universe as a whole. Professor Harrison draws on the discoveries and speculations of these scientists to provide a comprehensive survey of mankind's current understanding of the universe and its history. Tracing the rise of the scientific method, the major aim of this book is to provide an elementary understanding of the physical universe of modern times. This second edition, originally published in 2000, has received high praise for Harrison's wide-ranging insights into the universe at large.

The Little Book of Cosmology【電子書籍】[ Lyman Page ]

The cutting-edge science that is taking the measure of the universe

The Little Book of Cosmology provides a breathtaking look at our universe on the grandest scales imaginable. Written by one of the world's leading experimental cosmologists, this short but deeply insightful book describes what scientists are revealing through precise measurements of the faint thermal afterglow of the Big Bangーknown as the cosmic microwave background, or CMBーand how their findings are transforming our view of the cosmos.

Blending the latest findings in cosmology with essential concepts from physics, Lyman Page first helps readers to grasp the sheer enormity of the universe, explaining how to understand the history of its formation and evolution in space and time. Then he sheds light on how spatial variations in the CMB formed, how they reveal the age, size, and geometry of the universe, and how they offer a blueprint for the formation of cosmic structure.

Not only does Page explain current observations and measurements, he describes how they can be woven together into a unified picture to form the Standard Model of Cosmology. Yet much remains unknown, and this incisive book also describes the search for ever deeper knowledge at the field's frontiersーfrom quests to understand the nature of neutrinos and dark energy to investigations into the physics of the very early universe.

Proving God Exists: Physics, Cosmology, and the Universal Mind【電子書籍】[ Ken Levi ]

God is real. The evidence is solid and extensive. It's not based on blind faith or wishful thinking, but on hard science. The starting point is to strip away layers of mysticism and superstition surrounding the question of God; then, to ask: what do we really mean by a "Supreme Being"? How can we describe Him? And what evidence do we have such a Being exists? In addressing these questions, the book relies on physics and cosmology; on Relativity, Quantum Mechanics, String Theory, Black Hole Theory, Thermodynamics, Loop Quantum Gravity, and others. Ultimately, the scientific evidence leads to a provocative conclusion: the presence of a Universal Mind.

Artificial Intelligence Models for the Dark Universe Forays in Mathematical Cosmology【電子書籍】[ Ariel Fern?ndez ]

The dark universe contains matter and energy unidentifiable with current physical models, accounting for 95% of all the matter and energetic equivalent in the universe. The enormous surplus brings up daunting enigmas, such as the cosmological constant problem and the apparent distortions in the dynamics of deep space, and so coming to grips with the invisible universe has become a scientific imperative.

This book addresses this need, reckoning that no cogent physical model of the dark universe can be implemented without first addressing the metaphysical hurdles along the way. The foremost problem is identifying the topology of the universe which, as argued in the book, is highly relevant to unveil the secrets of the dark universe.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a valuable tool in this effort since it can reconcile conflicting data from deep space with the extant laws of physics by building models to decipher the dark universe. This book explores the applications of AI and how it can be used to embark on a metaphysical quest to identify the topology of the universe as a prerequisite to implement a physical model of the dark sector that enables a meaningful extrapolation into the visibile sector.

The book is intended for a broad readership, but a background in college-level physics and computer science is essential. The book will be a valuable guide for graduate students as well as researchers in physics, astrophysics, and computer science focusing on AI applications to elucidate the nature of the dark universe.

Key Features:

・ Provides readers with an intellectual toolbox to understand physical arguments on dark matter and energy.

・ Up to date with the latest cutting-edge research.

・ Authored by an expert on artificial intelligence and mathematical physics.

The Mythic Mind Essays on Cosmology and Religion in Ugaritic and Old Testament Literature【電子書籍】[ Nicolas Wyatt ]

The Mythic Mind follows the tradition of works which insist on the necessity for a comparative dimension in the study of ancient Israel. The Israelite world-view was essentially a West Semitic world-view in origin, with additional deeply embedded influences from Egypt and Mesopotamia, though it produced its own distinctive character by way of synthesis and reaction. The essays in this volume explore various aspects of this process, historically and cosmologically, commonly challenging received views developed in the treatment of Israel in isolation. The importance of the Ugaritic texts in particular, as reflecting the cultural context in which ancient Israel developed into two symbiotic kingdoms, heirs to a common 'Canaanite' tradition, emerges clearly from such studies as chapter 5: 'Sea and Desert', chapter 7: 'Of Calves and Kings', chapter 9: 'The Significance of Spn' and chapter 10: 'The Vocabulary and Neurology of Orientation.'

Architecture, Ritual and Cosmology in China The Buildings of the Order of the Dong【電子書籍】[ Xuemei Li ]

Drawing on the author’s extensive fieldwork in the Dong areas in southwest China, this book presents a detailed picture of the Dong’s buildings and techniques, with new insights into the Dong’s cosmology and rituals of everyday life meshed with the architecture, and the symbolic meanings. It examines how the buildings and techniques of the Dong are ordered and influenced by the local culture and context.

The timber bridges and drum towers are the Dong’s most prominent architectural monuments. Usually built elaborately with multiple roofs, these bridges and drum towers were designed and maintained by the local carpenters who also built the village suspended houses, in an oral tradition carried down from father to son or to apprentice. They were funded entirely by the local people, and the bridges tend to be built in places without great pressure of traffic or another bridge already existing close by. Why does such great expense go into the Dong’s buildings with elaboration? How were they built? And what do they mean to their users and builders?

This book is an anthropological study on the Dong’s architecture and technique, and it aims to contribute a discourse on the interdisciplinary research area. It is suitable for graduate and postgraduate readers.

For many years there has been a growing conflict between the evidence we have been accumulating and the assumptions we have had about the nature of reality. We can no longer maintain the belief in a strictly physical world composed of solid physical matter; our reality is much larger, more dynamic, and more malleable than that kind of substance would allow. In this book David Judd explores the evidence from quantum physics, academia and mysticism that is leading us to new understandings of ourselves and the world we live in. Shakespeare’s Knowledge of Astronomy and the Birth of Modern Cosmology【電子書籍】[ Peter D. Usher ]

In a novel reading of Shakespeare’s plays, this book addresses an observation first made many decades ago, that Shakespeare appears to neglect the intellectual upheavals that astronomy brought about in his lifetime. The author examines temporal, situational, and verbal anomalies in Hamlet and other plays using hermeneutic-dialectic methodology, and finds a consistent pattern of interpretation that is compatible with the history of astronomy and with the development of modern cosmology. He also demonstrates how Shakespeare takes into account beliefs about the nature of the heavens from the time of Pythagoras up to and including discoveries and theories in the first decade of the seventeenth century. The book makes the case that, as in many other fields, Shakespeare’s celestial knowledge is far beyond what was commonly known at the time.

Students and teachers interested in Shakespeare’s alleged indifference towards, or ignorance of, the celestial sciences will find this book illuminating, as will historians of science and scholars whose work focuses on epistemology and its relationship to the canon, and on how Shakespeare acquired the data that his plays deliver.

We are situated in the fifty-first Brahma year of the existence of our Brahma.Inside that Brahma year, we are in the primary Brahma day, called the Varaha Kalpa.Inside that Brahma day, we are in the seventh manvantara and in the 28th maha yuga of that manvantara. This would put us at about the 454th maha yuga of the 1,000 maha yugas that include this day of Brahma.Inside this maha yuga, we are in Kali Yuga. The 5100th year of Kali Yuga will relate to the year 2,000 A.D. That implies that we are genuinely right off the bat in Kali Yuga, and this age will proceed with more than 426,000 additional years.Variation Interpretations of Hindu ChronologyThe "Customary Puranic Model" portrayed above is settled upon by most creators on Hinduism and Yoga. Vector Cosmology III: The Natural Generator【電子書籍】[ Auric ]

Vector Cosmology III: The Natural Generator advances the Vector Cosmology series into its most essential question: How does the universe generate itself from first principles? Building on the recursive cosmological framework of the previous volumes, this book introduces a comprehensive model of the Natural Generatorーthe underlying engine responsible for producing the geometry, dynamics, and complexity of reality.

At the heart of this work lies a transformative insight:

The universe is not a static container in which events occur; it is an ongoing generative process.

Rather than presupposing spacetime or physical structure, the Natural Generator operates from minimal mathematical laws. Through local interactions, recursive operations, and vector transformations, these laws unfold into the vast architecture of the cosmosーstars, fields, particles, consciousness, and the fabric of spacetime itself.

This volume explores in depth:

The architecture of the Natural Generator: the core mechanism that computes reality at every scale.

The birth of recursive physics: how simple local rules expand into spacetime, fields, and particles.

Vector-based unification: a cosmological model where mathematical elegance and physical coherence merge.

Generation vs. existence: why the universe must be viewed as a process rather than a pre-existing stage.

Information as ontology: how minimal laws produce maximal complexity.

The Natural Generator presents a universe that is not builtーbut grown.
Each moment of reality is portrayed as an act of continuous creation, governed by the same underlying generative principle that shaped the earliest moments of the cosmos.

Written for readers with interests in physics, cosmology, mathematics, computation, philosophy, or the deeper nature of existence, this volume offers a rigorous yet poetic reimagining of how reality comes into being.

It is an invitation to look at the universe not as something that happened long ago, but as something that is happening right now.

Comets, Popular Culture, and the Birth of Modern Cosmology【電子書籍】[ Sara Schechner Genuth ]

In a lively investigation into the boundaries between popular culture and early-modern science, Sara Schechner presents a case study that challenges the view that rationalism was at odds with popular belief in the development of scientific theories. Schechner Genuth delineates the evolution of people's understanding of comets, showing that until the seventeenth century, all members of society dreaded comets as heaven-sent portents of plague, flood, civil disorder, and other calamities. Although these beliefs became spurned as "vulgar superstitions" by the elite before the end of the century, she shows that they were nonetheless absorbed into the science of Newton and Halley, contributing to their theories in subtle yet profound ways.

Schechner weaves together many strands of thought: views of comets as signs and causes of social and physical changes; vigilance toward monsters and prodigies as indicators of God's will; Christian eschatology; scientific interpretations of Scripture; astrological prognostication and political propaganda; and celestial mechanics and astrophysics. This exploration of the interplay between high and low beliefs about nature leads to the conclusion that popular and long-held views of comets as divine signs were not overturned by astronomical discoveries. Indeed, they became part of the foundation on which modern cosmology was built.

Brief Solutions to the Big Problems in Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology Beyond Einstein【電子書籍】[ Balungi Francis ]

People have always wanted answers to the big questions. Where did we come from? How did the universe begin? What is the meaning and design behind it all? Is there anyone out there? The creation accounts of the past now seem less relevant and credible. They have been replaced by a variety of what can only be called superstitions, ranging from New Age to Star Trek. But real science can be far stranger than science fiction, and much more satisfying. I am a scientist. And a scientist with a deep fascination with physics, cosmology, the universe and the future of humanity. I was brought up by my parents to have an unwavering curiosity and, like my father, to research and try to answer the many questions that science asks us. I have spent my life travelling across the universe, inside my mind. Through theoretical physics, I have sought to answer some of the great questions. At one point, I thought I would see the end of physics as we know it, but now I think the wonder of discovery will continue long after I am gone. We are close to some of these answers, but we are not there yet. The problem is, most people believe that real science is too difficult and complicated for them to understand. But I don't think this is the case. To do research on the fundamental laws that govern the universe would require a commitment of time that most people don't have; the world would soon grind to a halt if we all tried to do theoretical physics. But most people can understand and appreciate the basic ideas if they are presented in a clear way with equations, which I believe is possible and which is something I have enjoyed trying to do throughout my life. It has been a glorious time to be alive and doing research in theoretical physics. Our picture of the universe has changed a great deal in the last fifty years, and I'm happy if I have made a contribution. One of the great revelations of the space age has been the perspective it has given humanity on ourselves. When we see the Earth from space, we see ourselves as a whole. We see the unity, and not the divisions. It is such a simple image with a compelling message; one planet, one human race. I want to add my voice to those who demand why we must ask the big questions immediate action on the key challenges for our global community. I hope that going forward, even when I am no longer here, people with power can show creativity, courage and leadership. Let them rise to the challenge of the sustainable development goals, and act, not out of self-interest, but out of common interest. I am very aware of the preciousness of time. Seize the moment. Act now.
