Close your eyes and look around, you will see me in front of you."

"A voice cannot carry the tongue and the lips that gave it wings. Alone it must seek the ether. And alone and without his nest shall the eagle fly across the sun."

Der Wahnsinnige Ausgabe in neuer ?bersetzung und Rechtschreibung【電子書籍】[ Kahlil Gibran ]

|

ALMUSTAFA, the chosen and the beloved, who was a dawn unto his own day, had waited twelve years in the city of Orphalese for his ship that was to return and bear him back to the isle of his birth.
And in the twelfth year, on the seventh day of Ielool, the month of reaping, he climbed the hill without the city walls and looked seaward; and he beheld his ship coming with the mist.
Then the gates of his heart were flung open, and his joy flew far over the sea. And he closed his eyes and prayed in the silences of his soul.
BUT as he descended the hill, a sadness came upon him, and he thought in his heart:
How shall I go in peace and without sorrow? Nay, not without a wound in the spirit shall I leave this city.
Long were the days of pain I have spent within its walls, and long were the nights of aloneness; and who can depart from his pain and his aloneness without regret?
Too many fragments of the spirit have I scattered in these streets, and too many are the children of my longing that walk naked among these hills, and I cannot withdraw from them without a burden and an ache.

This illuminating study examines the renowned Lebanese author's poetic depictions of love in its various forms and phases.

Kahlil Gibran sees love as a burning fire, creating and destroying. Though it is at the center of life, it is for many a wellspring of strife and unsolved problems. Indeed, it seems that the more we write about it, the more mysterious it becomes. Yet there are those rare authors who can shine the light of truth on the subjectーauthors like Gibran.

In this volume, Gibran scholar Andrew Dib Sherfan explores the various aspects of love according to the famous Lebanese poet and philosopher. Gibran's writing is full of mystic symbolism and metaphors, many of which reveal profound insights into the nature of love between man and woman, parent and child, God and human, and individual and society.

THE BROKEN WINGS (With Original Illustrations) Poetic Romance Novel【電子書籍】[ Kahlil Gibran ]
|

In Kahlil Gibran's poignant novella, "The Broken Wings," readers are invited into a lyrical exploration of love, sacrifice, and the struggles of the soul. Written in Gibran's signature poetic prose, the narrative unfolds a tragic yet deeply resonant love story between the young poet, Michael, and his beloved, Selma, whose potential is stifled by societal constraints. The work stands as a critique of the oppressive forces of the early 20th-century society, interweaving philosophical reflections with Gibran's original illustrations that enhance the aesthetic experience and emotional depth of the text. This blend of narrative and visual artistry creates an immersive literary tapestry that engages heart and mind alike. Kahlil Gibran, a Lebanese-American writer and artist, drew from his own experiences of exile and cultural dislocation to inform his worldview. Born in 1883 in modern-day Lebanon, Gibran immigrated to the United States as a child, experiencing firsthand the tensions between personal aspirations and socioeconomic challenges. His rich appreciation for beauty, spirituality, and freedom is mirrored in "The Broken Wings," reflecting both his personal tragedies and broader societal critiques. As a young man he emigrated with his family to the United States where he studied art and began his literary career. In the Arab world, Gibran is regarded as a literary and political rebel. His romantic style was at the heart of a renaissance in modern Arabic literature, especially prose poetry, breaking away from the classical school. In Lebanon, he is still celebrated as a literary hero.
In his early teens, the artistry of Gibran's drawings caught the eye of his teachers and he was introduced to the avant-garde Boston artist, photographer, and publisher Fred Holland Day, who encouraged and supported Gibran in his creative endeavors. A publisher used some of Gibran's drawings for book covers in 1898, and Gibran held his first art exhibition in 1904 in Boston. In 1908, Gibran went to study art with Auguste Rodin in Paris for two years. He later studied art in Boston. While most of Gibran's early writing was in Arabic, most of his work published after 1918 was in English.
He is chiefly known in the English-speaking world for his 1923 book 'The Prophet', an early example of inspirational fiction including a series of philosophical essays written in poetic English prose. The book sold well despite a cool critical reception, gaining popularity in the 1930s and again especially in the 1960s counterculture. Gibran is the third best-selling poet of all time, behind Shakespeare and Lao-Tzu.

Der Wahnsinnige Eine poetische Reise zur Selbstentdeckung und Menschlichkeit: Philosophische Reflexionen ?ber Lebenssinn und Trag?die im Orient【電子書籍】[ Kahlil Gibran ]

|
