Bereits an den bisherigen Ausstellungsorten zeigte sich, dass das Thema der Judenvernichtung w?hrend des Zweiten Weltkrieges und dabei speziell die Beteiligung der Wehrmacht nach wie vor von hoher Brisanz ist. Entsprechende Besucherzahlen, kontroverse Diskussionen und Demonstrationen im Umfeld der Ausstellung belegen dies. Auch in Dresden war eine beachtliche Resonanz zu verzeichnen. Die Dresdner besuchten die Wehrmachtausstellung weitaus zahlreicher, als von den Organisatoren erwartet. Eine ?ber einhundert Meter lange Warteschlange vor dem Geb?ude der Technischen Sammlungen war keine Seltenheit. Dieses gro?e Interesse war nicht zwingend zu erwarten insbesondere deswegen, da in der DDR die Beteiligung der Wehrmacht bei der Judenvernichtung bereits in den Schulb?chern nachzulesen, also allgemein bekannt war und kaum angezweifelt wurde . Dass das Thema jedoch auch hier differenziert betrachtet wird, beweist z.B. die zur?ckhaltende Herangehensweise der Stadt bei der Zuweisung der R?umlichkeiten f?r die Ausstellung ebenso wie die Verweigerung einer Stellungnahme, die Presseleute vom Oberb?rgermeister der Stadt zur Ausstellung in deren Vorfeld erbaten. Auch in der Ausstellung selbst, in einem eigens daf?r eingerichteten Diskussionsraum sowie in den parallel stattfindenden Foren in anderen R?umlichkeiten der Stadt wurde teilweise heftig ?ber das Thema debattiert. In der Frage, wer wie bei dem gr?sslichen V?lkermord an den Juden w?hrend des Zweiten Weltkrieges beteiligt war, herrscht offenbar auch nach ?ber 50 Jahren in dem Volk, aus dem der Plan und die M?rder kamen, noch keine Klarheit. Verdr?ngung, Verharmlosung, Verleugnung, ungenaue und tendenzi?se Nachforschungen bestimmen das Bild zu einem betr?chtlichen Teil.
