The Southern Diaspora How the Great Migrations of Black and White Southerners Transformed America【電子書籍】[ James N. Gregory ]
|

Between 1900 and the 1970s, twenty million southerners migrated north and west. Weaving together for the first time the histories of these black and white migrants, James Gregory traces their paths and experiences in a comprehensive new study that demonstrates how this regional diaspora reshaped America by "southernizing" communities and transforming important cultural and political institutions.

Challenging the image of the migrants as helpless and poor, Gregory shows how both black and white southerners used their new surroundings to become agents of change. Combining personal stories with cultural, political, and demographic analysis, he argues that the migrants helped create both the modern civil rights movement and modern conservatism. They spurred changes in American religion, notably modern evangelical Protestantism, and in popular culture, including the development of blues, jazz, and country music.

In a sweeping account that pioneers new understandings of the impact of mass migrations, Gregory recasts the history of twentieth-century America. He demonstrates that the southern diaspora was crucial to transformations in the relationship between American regions, in the politics of race and class, and in the roles of religion, the media, and culture.

White Scar Across the Firmament【電子書籍】[ A.N. Milne ]
|

"Spanning centuries and star systems, this is epic-scope sci-fi with a beating heart, colliding planetary-scale events to ask intimate questions of what it means to crave connection, to feel isolation, to love another person. You've never read a book like this before."
- Riley Redgate, author of Alone Out Here

Is our destiny written in the stars-or carved into us by the choices we make?

White Scar Across the Firmament is a sweeping space opera that spans centuries, civilizations, and star systems, weaving together cosmic-scale events with deeply human stories of family, identity, and longing.

In the year 2326, humanity's distant descendants struggle to survive on Pilgrim's Progress, a frontier world long cut off from Earth. After centuries of silence, hope has become a quiet ache. That changes when Captain Jonah Harrison witnesses a meteor shower carrying a hidden message-a warning encoded in celestial fire. What it reveals foretells a conflict vast enough to reshape humanity's future, and ancient enough to dwarf anything he has ever known.

More than two centuries earlier, in 2135, Earth itself stands on the brink. Jean Harrison, a security consultant with a talent for uncovering buried truths, stumbles upon a conspiracy that shatters humanity's understanding of its place in the universe. The forces she uncovers are not merely political or technological-they are cosmic, incomprehensible, and already in motion.

Separated by time yet bound by blood, Jonah and Jean's lives echo across the firmament. Their choices ripple outward, linking humanity's past, present, and future in ways neither could foresee. As alien intelligences stir and unseen forces manipulate the fate of civilizations, both must confront not only external threats, but the fractures within their own families-and themselves.

Blending breathtaking world-building with intimate emotional stakes, White Scar Across the Firmament explores what it means to remain human in a universe that does not care, to love across impossible distances, and to leave a mark on eternity even when the stars themselves seem indifferent.

This is science fiction at its most ambitious and most personal-a cosmic saga where legacy matters, connection endures, and humanity's choice redefines everything.

Treasonable Doubt The Harry Dexter White Spy Case【電子書籍】[ R. Bruce Craig ]
|

In a new paperback and ebook preface, R. Bruce Craig gathers a wealth of relevant revelations relating to the White case that have emerged over the last two decades.

Whittaker Chambers and Elizabeth Bentley shocked America in 1948 with their allegations that Communist spies had penetrated the American government. The resulting perjury trial of Alger Hiss is already legendary, but Chambers and Bentley also named Harry Dexter White, a high-ranking Treasury official. (Hiss himself thought that White had been the real target of the House Un-American Activities Committee.) When White died only a week after his bold defense before Congress, much speculation remained about the cause of his death and the truth of the charges made against him. Armed with a wealth of new information, Bruce Craig examines this controversial case and explores the “ambiguities” that have haunted it for more than half a century.

The highest ranking figure in the Roosevelt and Truman administrations to be accused of espionage, White played a central role in the founding of the United Nations’ twin financial institutions, the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. For years after his death, White was a target of red-baiting by FBI director J. Edgar Hoover and Eisenhower’s attorney general Herbert Brownell. Two Republican-controlled Senate committees even held White accountable for formulating the “pro-Russian” Morgenthau Plan for post-war Germany and for orchestrating the loss of mainland China to the Communists.

Craig draws heavily on previously untapped or underused sources, including White’s personal papers, Treasury Department records, FBI files, and the once secret Venona files of decrypted Soviet espionage cables. Interviews with nearly two dozen key figures in the case, including Alger Hiss and former KGB officer V. G. Pavlov, also help bring White’s story to life. Sifting through this mountain of evidence, Craig retraces White’s rise to power within the Treasury Department and confirms that White was involved in a “species of espionage”ーbut also shows that the same evidence contradicts Bentley’s charges of “policy subversion.”

What emerges is an evenhanded portrait of neither a monster nor a martyr but rather a committed New Dealer and internationalist whose hopes for world peace transcended national loyaltiesーa man who saw some benefit in cooperating with the Soviets but had no affection for dictatorship. Although it still remains unclear whether White leaked classified information vital to national security, Craig clearly shows that none of the most serious allegations against him can be substantiated.

White Star: Book 2 of The Making of a Mage King Series【電子書籍】[ Anna L. Walls ]
|

Sean's crown was firmly in his hands, and his new bride and oldest friends managed the business of running the kingdom. The only trouble with this picture was that the entire rest of the country didn't have a clue. In order to be his own king, rather than a shadow sitting on his uncle's throne, he had to go to each district and tie the country together again. His uncle had had seventeen years to divide the districts and cow everyone through fear and torture. All that was done; he just had to tell everyone that fact. Now that Sean was in motion, he was positively driven and had to force himself to a pace that preserved the health and endurance of his troops. Once again, he picked a likely route that would take him around the entire country in the shortest amount of time, but even so, the distances he had to travel between each district seat left next to no time to achieve what he needed to do and each district presented its own problems.

Along the way, the troubles and problems began to add up. A country divided is a country at risk and the risks had been happening. The problems he found boggled the mind. In one district, a mage had found a way to double the harvests by speeding up the passing of the seasons, trouble is, the magic affected everything and everyone in the valley. Girls were growing up and having babies at the age of seven or eight, and few of them were surviving the ordeal. This went for the animals as well. In another district someone had been kidnapping young mages and spiriting them away.

Nation of Killers: Guns, Violence, White Supremacy: The American Dream Become Delusion【電子書籍】[ Jack Carney, DSW ]

In recent years, the American dream has been usurped, taking numerous opportunities away from ordinary working-class, middle-class Americans. In Nation of Killers, author Jack Carney shares what he believes has gone wrong and what might be done to address and correct it. Carney offers readers information they might not otherwise have, seeking to provoke them into reconsidering some conclusions about this country and its future direction. He argues that violenceーrooted in white supremacist ideologyーhas been employed by one percenters and their surrogates to promote the country’s nineteenth-century expansion and its modern imperialist adventures and to subjugate those of its citizens who have been politically and economically marginalized since the nation’s founding. The essays in Part II comprise an organizing primer for activists, detailing key issues to be addressed and describing tactics and strategies already being employed to address them.

Through historical accounts, expedition diaries, scientific reports, and modern polar research, the narrative reconstructs the human struggle to map a continent defined by instability. Beyond the dramatic rescues and near-fatal setbacks, the book reveals how Antarctic exploration fueled scientific advancement, geopolitical competition, and the birth of international cooperation in one of Earth's harshest domains. The Madness Of Chaos A Dorian White Saga【電子書籍】[ Joseph P Hradisky Jr ]
|

This is another book in the Dorian White / Wired For Peace stories. With all the political mumbo jumbo, rhetoric, as well as being politically correct it is time someone takes a stand for truth and justice. Dorian White represents a person whose only goal is to do just that. There are no boundaries, except justice, he will not cross. This was initially seen in his protection of docs without borders where he made sure certain warlords would never bother them again. Or any other organization for that fact. An underlying truth Dorian follows is the idea one should always play by the rules until the otherside does not. Then you play at their level only a lot better. Yet you never stoop to their level. He uses the idea perception is reality by making all he does openly is nothing but an illusion of what is really being done.

In this book he does show others exactly how far the illusion he uses goes. Even death can be used as an illusion to get people to react the way they really need to. Yet, in order to make the effect better, there are those who will be killed but done so because there was no other choice which could be pursued. Each situation is based soley on that situation. There is no profiling, which he hates, nor prejudice in any way one might try to use against his organization.

Thank you for reading my book and remember to pass on love to all those you meet. A smile goes a long way to bringing about the peace a true warrior is always seeking. One day there will come a time when they can lay down their sword knowing those, who need protecting, are finally safe. Then the warrior, eternal champion, will take up the plow again.

|

On January 6th, 2021 the United States Capitol was overtaken not by an outside threat against it's borders but by it's own citizens. The White House security and staff made attempts to stave off the onslaught brought on by American insurrectionists but it was to no avail. Eventually, the rioters would have their way by looting, vandalizing and trespassing on hundreds of square feet of the Capitol. The total victim count was just over 145 with 5 deaths and 140 injured in the debacle while lawmakers among other politicians and officials were evacuated or hidden until the riot was over. An event such as this taking place in this day and age where technology affords anyone the power to record and share what happened in seconds makes it virtually impossible to deny one's involvement.

Author S. Cornelius West leads the reader of White on White Spite, The Gentrification of America down paths connected to timeless open streams of thought where you will see yourself in each chapter if you will open your mind. Each section builds upon the previous sections where open ended solutions are revealed. White America is at a pivotal crossroad where they must decide to continue with White Supremacy or evolve into something more. The problem with evolution is the constant change that disrupts comfort for something better in the future. West shows how White Supremacy is rooted in Greed, Deception and Thievery and there is no honor among thieves. White America is being divided in multiple ways based on value systems created from survival forging new connections unforeseen. White on White Spite is Family Feud at its finest a sibling rivalry that can end in many ways.

Will this Family Feud end White Supremacy replacing it with something utopian, sublime or something far more sinister? Will Karma rear its head and expose something that's been looming covertly in the background exposing secrets for the world to see?

This book recounts the events involving Raquel Liberman, an impoverished immigrant to Argentina that was forced by circumstances into prostitution, and the powerful Zwi Migdal, which controlled the recruitment and deployment of Jewish prostitutes in Argentina while maintaining mutually profitable relations with corrupt politicians and policemen. Liberman's story is presented as an example of individual courage and determination in the face of the violence and corruption of the prostitution business. Her struggle with the Zwi Migdal and triumphant public victory over her oppressors was widely publicized in newspapers and magazines, and was a political cause celebre in its time. This book gives readers an intimate view of how the affair caught the public imagination, and was interpreted and transformed by the artistic imagination.

The Going of the White Swan【電子書籍】[ Gilbert Parker ]

Classic short story. According to Wikipedia:" Sir Horatio Gilbert George Parker, 1st Baronet PC ( 23 November 1862 6 September 1932),[known as Gilbert Parker, Canadian novelist and British politician, was born at Camden East, Addington, Ontario… The best of his novels are those in which he first took for his subject the history and life of the French Canadians; and his permanent literary reputation rests on the fine quality, descriptive and dramatic, of his Canadian stories. Pierre and his People (1892) was followed by Mrs. Falchion (1893), The Trail of the Sword (1894), When Valmond came to Pontiac (1895), An Adventurer of Icy North (1895), and The Seats of the Mighty (1896, dramatized in 1897). The Seats of the Mighty was a historical novel depicting the English conquest of Quebec with James Wolfe and the Marquis de Montcalm as two of the characters. The Lane that had no Turning (1900) contains some of his best work. In The Battle of the Strong (1898) he broke new ground, laying his scene in the Channel Islands. His chief later books were The Right of Way (1901), Donovan Pasha (1902), The Ladder of Swords (1904), The Weavers (1907), Northern Lights (1909) and The Judgment House (1913). Parker had three that made it into the top 10 on the annual list of bestselling novels in the United States, two of which were on it for two years in a row. The 1905 New International Encyclopaedia claimed that it was the “dramatic quality of his . . . books [which] won for them [their] considerable popularity, despite their disregard of truth in local color."

Shackles of the Slavs The Untold History of White Slavery【電子書籍】[ Patrick Scheffer ]

History remembers what it chooses. And sometimes, it forgets what it fears.

When we think of slavery, certain images immediately come to mind ー but what if a vast, brutal chapter has been buried beneath silence and discomfort? Shackles of the Slavs dares to uncover a truth long hidden by political sensitivity and selective storytelling: white people, too, were slaves.

This book pulls back the curtain on centuries of forgotten suffering ー from the mass enslavement of Slavic peoples (whose very name gave us the word “slave”) to the Irish sold into colonial plantations, from the opulent harems of the Ottoman Empire where fair skin commanded a high price, to the relentless terror inflicted by Barbary pirates along Europe’s coasts. And long before these, the Roman Empire and other ancient civilizations thrived on the backs of the enslaved, building their monuments, feeding their cities, and fueling their wars with human lives treated as mere commodities.

These stories are not anomalies ー they are a central, indispensable part of the global history of human bondage.

Shackles of the Slavs isn’t about shifting blame or creating a new victim hierarchy. It’s about balance. It’s about truth. And most importantly, it’s about historical integrity. It challenges the idea that slavery belongs to any one race or group ー and reminds us that slavery, in all its cruelty, was a shared human tragedy that spared no continent, no people.

While today’s debates rage over ancestral grievances, the voices of modern-day victims ー trapped in the nightmare of human trafficking and forced labor ー are often drowned out. This book calls us to stop arguing over who suffered most, and start acknowledging the full scope of suffering that defined our shared past.

If you're ready to challenge mainstream narratives and confront uncomfortable truths ー unfiltered and unafraid ー this is the book you’ve been waiting for.

Buy Shackles of the Slavs today ー and join the conversation that finally tells the whole story.

In the autumnal darkness of October 6, 1894, an unseen figure rang the doorbell at the Parkdale home of a well-to-do Toronto family and then shot Frank Westwood in his doorway, murdering him in cold blood.

Six weeks later, Clara Ford, a Black tailor and single mother, was arrested. Known for her impeccable work ethic and her resolute personality ? and for her predilection for wearing men’s attire ? she confessed to the murder. But as the details of her arrest and her complex connection to the Westwood family emerged, Clara recanted, testifying that she was coerced by police into a false confession. Carolyn Whitzman tells the compelling story of a courageous Black woman living in nineteenth-century Toronto and paints a portrait of a city and a society that have not changed enough in 125 years.
