Eigentum sicherte das ?berleben von Familien und V?lkern, nicht selten waren die Angst darum und das Streben danach daher Ausl?ser f?r blutige Auseinandersetzungen und Kriege. Da nun das Eigentum eine derartige Schl?sselrolle im menschlichen Dasein einnimmt, hat sich auch die politische Philosophie immer wieder mit diesem Thema befasst, so auch die bekanntesten Staatstheoretiker des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts. Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit sollen die Eigentumstheorien John Lockes und Jean-Jacques Rousseaus dargestellt werden. In einem vergleichenden Fazit werden einige Unterschiede aber auch Ber?hrpunkte der beiden Theorien herausgearbeitet. Bei der Untersuchung der Lockeschen Eigentumstheorie wird ?berwiegend auf die 'Zweite Abhandlung ?ber die Regierung' Bezug genommen, wo der Thematik ausreichend Rechnung getragen wurde. Bei Rousseau konnten die Erkenntnisse vor allem aus dem 'Gesellschaftsvertrag', den Verfassungsentw?rfen f?r Polen und Korsika sowie den Abhandlungen ?ber 'Ungleichheit' und 'Politische ?konomie' gewonnen werden. Nat?rlich l?sst sich ein Vergleich beider Theorien nur relativ ziehen, weit mehr als nur die Zeitspanne einiger Jahrzehnte trennen die wichtigen Schriften des Engl?nders von denen des Genfers. Auch nimmt das Eigentum in Lockes Schriften eine ungleich zentralere Position ein als bei Rousseau. Gro? sind die Unterschiede nicht nur im Umfang der W?rdigung des Eigentums, sondern auch bez?glich der Position demselben gegen?ber.
