Grand Puy Lacoste グラン・ピュイ・ラコストの歴史は16世紀にさかのぼります。 記録に残っている最初のオーナーはボルドー議会の議員であったマダム・ド・ギロー(M. de Guiraud)です。そこから代々、一族でシャトーを引き継いでいきます。 当時、シャトーの名前は地名(Grand-Puy グラン・ピュイ）+オーナーの名前であった為、時々により名前を変えていきますが、最終的にシャトーの名前は、19世紀に入り一族の後継者であるマリー・ジャンヌ・ド・サン・ギロン(Marie-Jeanne de Saint Guirons)氏がフランソワ・ラコスト(Francois Lacoste)氏と結婚した際につけた、シャトー・グラン・ピュイ・ラコストという名前に落ち着きます。 『ピュイ(Puy)』という名前が古くは『小さい丘』を意味した様に、畑はなだらかな斜面に位置しており、面積も位置も1855年当時から変っていません。シャトーの敷地は90haで、栽培面積は58ha。1978年にボリー家が購入して以来、根気強く植え替えを行い、現在の平均樹齢は理想的な38年となりました。 ロバート・パーカー氏も「ジロンド河からはずいぶん内陸に入ったバージュの丘にあるグラン・ピュイ・ラコストは1kmほど離れた隣のランシュ・バージュと似ていなくもない、大柄で耐久力のある、フルボディのポイヤックを生産することで確固たる定評がある。（中略）1990年代半ばまでは価格が品質に追いつけなかったため、いまだに控えめな、いささか過小評価されているとさえ言える価格がついている。」 （ボルドー第四版）と語っています。 Ch.
