Social In/Equality and Classless Humanism An essay on the political philosophy of praxis【電子書籍】[ Kostas Lampos ]
|

The political philosophy, social and economic theories of modern times, from their founders until today and with few exceptions, have largely ignored the natural laws that explain the existence of the Universe and the appearance and evolution of life, but also the laws of the development of societies. On the contrary, as idealism, obscurantism, liberalism, neoliberalism, classicism and neoclassicism, they focused on defending the individual ownership of the means of production, the supposed quintessence of individual freedom. This delusion even forced them to ignore and underestimate the existence of society, which is the timeless subject of history and the only creator of human civilization. This choice led them to sterilely defend social inequality, which brought them into a strategically important conflict with the forces of Labor, Science and Culture. This conflict has given rise to the need for a new modern worldview corresponding to the reality of the 21st century and for the search for a new alternative strategy that will capture the possibilities and needs of the 21st century and pave the way for the exit of humanity. from capitalist barbarism. The result of this process brings back to the surface the timeless strategy of working humanity for a world of social equality, which in the 21st century and thanks to modern sciences and technologies that are of course under the control of working society / humanity, gradually acquires content, form and the dimensions of an Ataxic Ecumenical Humanism. An honest and documented book that dares to curtail political thought and action.

Taming Anger The Hellenic Approach to the Limitations of Reason【電子書籍】[ Kostas Kalimtzis ]
|

From Homer to Aristotle, understanding anger and harnessing its power was at the core of Hellenic civilization. Homer created the framework for philosophical inquiries into anger, one that persisted until it was overturned by Stoicism and Christianity. Plato saw anger as the guardian of justice and Aristotle conceived of it as bound to friendship. Yet both showed that anger can become a guardian of injustice and a defender of our psychological abnormalities. Plato claimed that reason is a tertiary factor in controlling anger and Aristotle argued that non-cognitive powers can issue commands for anger's arousal - findings that shed light as to why cognitive therapeutic approaches often prove to be ineffective. Both proposed nurturing the thumos, the receptacle of anger and the seat of self-esteem. Aristotle's view of public anger as an early warning sign of social dissolution continues to be relevant to this day. In this carefully argued study, Kostas Kalimtzis examines the theories of anger in the context of the ancient world with an eye to their implications for the modern predicament.

The True Interpretation of the Revelation of John and the Bible (Revised and Extended version)【電子書籍】[ Kostas Tzouvelekis ]
|

The true interpretation of the Revelation of John and the Bible, reveals things that nobody has ever explained and it does so, in a way that leaves you speechless, because the arguments used in the book are granite like and cannot really be debated.

It reveals things that no other book even dares to touch, things that will make your jaw drop to the floor.

For example it reveals the supreme phrase of Moses stated in the book of Genesis Chapter 1 verse 3 "And God said, let there be light: and there was light."?
There is no doubt that absolutely nobody knows what this verse really means and nobody can explain this superb phrase. Neither the official church which in fact is in complete darkness, nor
any Scientist or "Prophet of our time" really knows what this truly means. They are still searching to find out!!

And this because, many people confuse this "light" stated in the above verse, with the "light of the Sun".
But the "light of the Sun" ,as Genesis states was produced in the fourth day of Creation. While this
"light" was produced in the first day of Creation where the Sun was nOn-existent. Hence there can be no doubt that, there is absolutely no connection between the two, because they are two entirely different things.

Because the "light of the first day" was not the "light of the Sun". But it was the Primordial Universal Electricity through which the partial evaporation of the abyss of waters took place, and enabled the Unconstructed earth to be seen (see Genesis 1st Chapter).

This Primordial Uuniversal Electricity (the light of the first day of Creation),
as everybody can realize, has enormous implications for the Scientific world,
that discovered this formidable fact almost 3,500 years after Genesis was given to the great Moses by God. Now this gives you a small taste of the kind of shocking truths, that the book contains.

And this is not the only colossal truth that the book reveals. In fact, it is full and
packed with unbelievable revelations and explanations.

It further destroys the Big Bang theory with such an amazing ease and brings forward, the true way of the Creation and Formation of the Universe, in a Scientific way which is in complete conformity with the Bible and cannot be debated. I repeat, it cannot be debated.

For the first time is revealed, that the Creation of the Universe took place in no time.
Because as the book explains, in fantastic detail which has never seen before,
no matter how many million/billions of years Science and especially materialists assume, since the Creation of the Universe, which is impossible to explain in a timely manner. And therefore as the book demonstrates in detail, the Creation is really timeless, something that no one has ever thought before, which is truly amazing.

And while the Creation of the Universe is timeless, the Formation of the Universe
took place in time, and this is the exact point that Scientists have been confusing and thus they
cannot explain anything correctly.

They do not even know if the photon is a wave or a particle!!
While the answer is very simple as the book explains.

The Theological and Scientific revelations contained in the book, are just too many to be mentioned here. So prepare yourself to be shocked and to be blasted (raptured) to another sphere of existence that you never thought possible!

You are in for a treat, like never before and especially the New Revised and Extended version of the Book, which was completed very recently in the previous year 2020, and which I have just recently uploaded is absolutely staggering.

The True Interpretation of the Revelation of John and the Bible Revised and Extended Version【電子書籍】[ Kostas Tzouvelekis ]

|

The true Interpretation of the Revelation of John and the Bible, contains precisely what it says. This is exactly what is missing today. Because there are many books on the subject but none of them can claim that it possesses the true Interpretation of the Scriptures. They do not dare to say this, obviously because they know that they would be lying and therefore, these books contain only the convictions and beliefs of the Authors which certainly have all been proved wrong, even the most famous ones. Except this, the book contains the true explanation of the Creation and Formation of the Universe and destroys the Big Bang theory as well as many other Scientific pseudo-theories which are very famous today. What you are going to read, took more than 20 years of research and very hard effort to search, gather, investigate, verify the info and events and finally assemble into one book which contains information, that you cannot find anywhere else on the planet. Note that the information in the book, belongs to the previous century and to the century before and therefore it was extremely difficult to find all this literature, as you will realize. In the end, if you decide to purchase it, you will be totally convinced that you made the right decision. And I give my personal guarantee that you will be extremely satisfied with the things that you will learn from the book. But because I don’t want to stuff you with words, prior to purchasing, please go to my website at www.revelation-decoded.com and have a look to get an idea of what I am talking about, and you will see that I practice what I preach and certainly, I am not joking.

Primordial Violence: German War On The Soviet Partisans【電子書籍】[ Major Gus Kostas USMCR ]
|

In terms of Clausewitz' paradoxical trinity, the German counter insurgency in the occupied territories of the Soviet Union 1941-1944, did not achieve a sense of balance. The second two legs of the trinity, the play of chance and probability and the element of subordination, were subverted by primordial violence and enmity.
Clausewitz offers his paradoxical trinity as a viable framework for analyzing the inherent complexities of warfare. The three interdependent, dynamic aspects of the trinity must be balanced against each other if a successful plan for war is to prevail. Additionally, Clausewitz addresses the dynamics of insurgencies and counter insurgencies. With these two analytical frameworks, an examination of a specific campaign becomes plausible.
The German efforts to thwart the partisan uprising in the occupied territories of the Eastern Front from 1941-1944 reflected the interplay of the Clausewitz triad. Primordial violence was imbued in the German people as a result of National Socialist indoctrination. The play of chance and probability reflected the largely successful active and passive measures employed by the German armed forces behind German lines in the east. The element of subordination was manifested in the pernicious Nazi policies and directives that inevitably dictated the conduct of the armed forces.
As a result of Hitler's imbalanced, irrational eastern strategy and sequent war on the partisans, primordial violence, enmity, and hatred superseded the other two legs of the trinity. Hitler's unlimited political and military objectives ultimately were incompatible with the German Army's ability to pragmatically prosecute the eastern war and pacify the population that supported the partisan resistance.

What are genes? What do genes do? These questions are not simple and straightforward to answer; at the same time, simplistic answers are quite prevalent and are taken for granted. This book aims to explain the origin of the gene concept, its various meanings both within and outside science, as well as to debunk the intuitive view of the existence of 'genes for' characteristics and disease. Drawing on contemporary research in genetics and genomics, as well as on ideas from history of science, philosophy of science, psychology and science education, it explains what genes are and what they can and cannot do. By presenting complex concepts and research in a comprehensible and rigorous manner, it examines the potential impact of research in genetics and genomics and how important genes actually are for our lives. Understanding Genes is an accessible and engaging introduction to genes for any interested reader.

|

For Decadent authors, Romanticism was a source of powerful imaginative revisionism, perversion, transition, and partial negation. But for all these strong Decadent reactions against the period, the cultural phenomenon of Decadence shared with Romanticism a mutual distrust of the philosophy of utilitarianism and the aesthetics of neo-Classicism. Reflecting on the interstices between Romantic and Decadent literature, Decadent Romanticism reassesses the diverse and creative reactions of Decadent authors to Romanticism between 1780 and 1914, while also remaining alert to the prescience of the Romantic imagination to envisage its own distorted, darker, perverted, other self. Creative pairings include William Blake and his Decadent critics, the recurring figure of the sphinx in the work of Thomas De Quincey and Decadent writers, and Percy Shelley with both Mathilde Blind and Swinburne. Not surprisingly, John Keats’s works are a particular focus, in essays that explore Keats’s literary and visual legacies and his resonance for writers who considered him an icon of art for art’s sake. Crucial to this critical reassessment are the shared obsessions of Romanticism and Decadence with subjectivity, isolation, addiction, fragmentation, representation, romance, and voyeurism, as well as a poetics of desire and anxieties over the purpose of aestheticism.

Finalist for the 2020 PROSE Awards, Classics section

Homer’s Odyssey is the first great travel narrative in Western culture. Politics Antiquity and Its Legacy【電子書籍】[ Kostas Vlassopoulos ]
|

Ancient Greece is famous as the civilization which 'gave' the world democracy. Democracy has in modern times become the rallying cry of liberation from supposed totalitarianism and dictatorship. And the desire by the western powers, especially America, to foment (or impose) democracy across the globe is one of the most powerful driving motors in present-day geopolitics: not least in Iraq and Afghanistan. Thus, a lively and well informed treatment of the nexus between politics in antiquity and political discourse in the modern era is both timely and apposite. As Kostas Vlassopoulos shows, much can be learned about the practice of politics from a comparative discussion of the classical and the contemporary. His starting point is that the value of looking back to a political system with different assumptions and elements can help us think, and even shape, what the future of modern politics might be.
He discusses the contrasting political systems prevalent in the Greek city-states of Athens, Sparta and Corinth; tensions between democrats and oligarchs in Periclean Athens; the bitter rivalries which led to the Peloponnesian Wars in the fifth century BCE; and, the delicate balance of powers between people, senate and emperor in the hierarchical society of republican and latterly imperial Rome. Above all, the book shows how important and surprising the study of antiquity can be in reassessing and revaluating modern political debates.

|

Why does the word design owe its origin to Latin and not Greek roots? Where do the limits of the human mind lie? How does ambiguity enter the deterministic world of computation? Who was Parmenides and why is his philosophy still puzzling today? This unique volume challenges the reader to tackle all these complex questions and more. Algorithmic Architecture is not a typical theory-based architectural book; it is not a computer programming or language tutorial book either. It contains a series of provocative design projects, and yet it is not just a design or graphic art book per se. Following the tradition of architecture as a conglomeration of various design fields - engineering, theory, art, and recently, computation - the challenge of this book is to present a concept that, like architecture, is a unifying theme for many diverse disciplines. An algorithm is not only a step-by-step problem-solving procedure, a series of lines of computer codes or a mechanistic linguistic expression, but is also an ontological construct with deep philosophical, social, design, and artistic repercussions. Consequently, this book presents many, various and often seemingly disparate points of view that lead to the establishment of one common theme; algorithmic architecture.

From Doxiadis' Theory to Pikionis' Work Reflections of Antiquity in Modern Architecture【電子書籍】[ Kostas Tsiambaos ]

In this book, Tsiambaos redefines the ground-breaking theory of Greek architect and town planner Constantinos A. Doxiadis (The Form of Space in Ancient Greece) and moves his thesis away from antiquity and ancient architecture, instead arguing that it can only be understood as a theory founded in modernity.

In light of this, the author explores Doxiadis’ theory in relation to the work of the controversial Greek architect Dimitris Pikionis. This parallel investigation of the philosophical content of Doxiadis’ theory and the design principles of Pikionis’ work establishes a new frame of reference and creates a valuable and original interpretation of their work. Using innovative cross-disciplinary tools and methods which expand the historical boundaries of interwar modernism, the book restructures the ground of an alternative modernity that looks towards the future through a mirror that reflects the ancient past.

From Doxiadis’ Theory to Pikionis’ Work: Reflections of Antiquity in Modern Architecture is fascinating reading for all scholars and students with an interest in modernism and antiquity, the history and theory of architecture, the history of ideas and aesthetics or town planning theory and design.

Drinking from the Blood-Pit is a work of creative nonfiction, which uses Odysseuss descent to the underworld (Od.10.490-95) as a unifying theme for each of the fourteen pieces included. Each piece is based on a Homeric theme and/or episode that stresses the lessons culled from reading Homers Iliad and Odyssey on the authors journey from childhood to adulthood. The title of each story indicates the Homeric myth or episode used and is accompanied by a short epigraph from either the Iliad or Odyssey. The fourteen works are divided into three sections: childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. The first part, childhood (four stories), describes growing up on the island of Samos, Greece, during the Nazi occupation and the Greek Civil War that followed. The second section, adolescence (four stories), continues the authors odyssey to the United States, attempting to deal with a new language and becoming acclimated to a foreign culture. The third part, adulthood (six stories), returns the author to his native land as a student of Greek culture struggling to study the censored works of Greek poets under the military government of 19671974.

The Odyssey of Kostas Volakis【電子書籍】[ Harry Mark Petrakis ]

"Every man's life is an Odyssey; it does not matter if the body remains rooted in one place, for it is the heart and the spirit that journey to Ithaca."

So speaks Father Marias, the close friend and the wise spiritual adviser to Kostas Volakis - the hero whose own Odyssey gives sweep, power, and vision to this novel of Greek-Americans in the first part of the 20th century.

The action of the story spans four generations in the family Volakis" from the harsh island life on Crete, through the emigration of Kostas and his bride, Katerina, to the United States, and their joys and sorrows with children and grandchildren. Some battles are won. Many are lost. And the years march forward from 1919 to 1954 as the reader shares with Kostas Volakis his search for the verities of life, his ever-growing perception of himself and his family.

With brilliant talent the author evokes the harmony and dissonance of Hfe in the Greek community in Chicago, where Katerina and Kostas first feel the impact of their new world.

Kostas: "I have come from the place of my despair to the place of my destiny."

Katerina: "There are so many automobiles. They seem to rush right at us. God must be angry at men who create monsters such as this."

But as the years pass by, the lives of Kostas and Katerina expand to include:

Cousin Glavas, the restaurant owner: "A restaurant is like a zoo. The animals grunt and tear and rend their food. Don't get too close or you may lose a finger."

Aeneas, the first-born: He was a tiny immortal, a creature not of the earth, with an incredibly beautiful head and a crown of dark, fine silken hair.

Doctor Barbaris: "This 1920 is a mighty year. Big Jim Colosimo is shot and Wabash Avenue is draped in black . . . Prohibition arrives driving a hearse. In addition this crazy Cretan has had a son."

Daughter Rhodanthe: "I want to love him so much that he will have to come back to me. You both.think I am too young. Today the young must grow up quickly."

Alex, the second son: "Even before I was born I could feel your hate in my blood! You put me on a dead boy's eyes! You made room for me in his coffin!"

Manuel, the third son: "Don't take it so hard. Papa. As long as there are girls in the world there will be boys after them."

Angela, the daughter of middle-age: She grew fat and rosy-cheeked and bloomed like a flower.

And among them all there is love. "I cannot measure out my love as others measure ingredients for a cake. I love with all the love I have," says Kostas. But for one he holds no love but only hatred. And that hatred leads inexorably along the path to a dramatic and violent climax.

Game of the World【電子書籍】[ Kostas Axelos ]

Kostas Axelos traces his thinking on the world deployed as play from Heraclitus through to the culmination of metaphysical philosophy with Nietzsche, Marx and Heidegger. Originally published in 1969, Le Jeu du Monde, conceives of the dawn of the 21st-century in which technological transformations coincide with an increased world at play. Are we continually falling when we are continually scrolling? Are we homeless on our homepages and playless at our PlayStations? Axelos demands a future thinking of fragmentary wholeness where humans - global players and worldwide gamers of planetary and wordless worlds - have yet to learn to play the play of the world.

Trusting Science Why We Need to Reconsider School Science Teaching【電子書籍】[ Kostas Kampourakis ]
|

In today's world of social media and information overload, certain science topics related to policy decisions, such as vaccination, ignite controversy. Beyond the usual explanations of science denial and ideological battles lies a deeper issue: a widespread distrust fueled by poor science communication. Trusting Science: Why We Need to Reconsider School Science Teaching reveals how a lack of understanding of how science is done can result in distrust among those who aren't inherently against science. This book highlights the urgent need for better public education on how science truly works-from gathering evidence and understanding uncertainties to recognizing the role of experts and even the biases scientists may have. Drawing on historical and contemporary socio-scientific controversies, particularly - but not only - in the realm of vaccination, Dr. Kostas Kampourakis offers insightful solutions to bridge the gap between scientists and the public. By enhancing communication and education, he argues, we can foster a more realistic and appreciative view of science, recognizing both its immense potential and its limitations. Trusting Science is a must-read for anyone interested in better understanding science and in the future of public trust in science.

Permutation Design Buildings, Texts, and Contexts【電子書籍】[ Kostas Terzidis ]
|

In design, the problems that designers are called upon to solve can be regarded as a problem of permutations. A permutation is an ordered arrangement of elements in a set. In our case, the set is design and the elements are design components, such as lines, shapes, forms, or spaces.

Traditionally, such arrangements are done by human designers who base their decision-making process either on intuition or on random sampling until a valid solution is found. However, in both cases the solution found may be an acceptable one but cannot be labeled as "the best possible solution" due to the subjective or arbitrary nature of the selection process. In contrast, by harnessing the potential of computational design, these elements can be arranged in all possible ways and then the best ones are chosen based on specific criteria. By presenting a complete list of permutation-based arrangements the "best solution" will eventually reveal itself by excluding all other possible solutions.

This book comprehensively addresses theories, techniques, and examples of permutation design in order to fully demonstrate to the reader the full range of possibilities this method represents. The significance of such an approach to design is enormous, paradigmatic, and far-reaching. It provides an alternative method for design analysis, synthesis, and evaluation that is based on computational force rather than pure human intelligence alone. In contrast to human-based random sampling or intuition, permutation-based design offers the assurance of an optimum design since any possible alternative design can be eliminated. From a practical point of view, this methodology offers a paradigmatic shift away from the current state of design practice where arbitrariness, repetition, and redundancy often exist. From a theoretical viewpoint, this new paradigm will offer alternative insights into the value of human creativity, intuition, and intelligence.
