Hepatic Fibrosis, (Liver Cirrhosis) A Simple Guide To The Condition, Diagnosis, Treatment And Related Conditions【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

This book describes Hepatic Fibrosis, Diagnosis and Treatment and Related Diseases
Hepatitis fibrosis is a better word to describe the scar tissue and nodules that replace liver tissue and disrupt liver function than Liver Cirrhosis (derived from Greek kirrh?s meaning "yellowish, tawny" the orange-yellow color of the diseased liver).
The disorder fibrosis is the formation of fibrous connective tissue as a repairing response to injury or injury.
Fibrosis may refer to the connective tissue deposition that happens as part of normal healing or to the excess tissue deposition that happens as a pathological process.
When fibrosis happens in reaction to damage, the word “scarring” is used.
Singapore scientists have found that a protein, Interleukin 11, or IL11, causes fibrosis disease, which can lead to life-threatening disorders.
The discovery paves the way for more effective treatment against fibrosis, where the body produces excessive connective tissue in response to an injury, causing tissue scarring.
Hepatic Fibrosis (Liver cirrhosis)
Hepatic Fibrosis indicates the scar tissue and nodules that replace liver tissue and disrupt liver function.
The disorder is normally caused by alcoholism, fatty liver disease, hepatitis B or hepatitis C but in USA hepatitis C has become the main cause.
The liver is accountable for several essential functions such detoxifying certain materials in the body, producing essential nutrients and cleaning the blood.
Each time the liver undergoes stress or injury, it tries to regenerate and produces scar tissue in the process.
When the scar tissue accumulates, liver function becomes worse and when cirrhosis is advanced, the liver no longer works properly.
Hepatic Fibrosis does not show any symptoms until the injury has become extensive, at which point it may cause a wide range of symptoms.
a. Tendency to bleed or bruise early
b. Fatigue
c. Jaundice or yellowing of the skin and eyes
d. Ascites or fluid build up in the abdomen
e. Weight loss
f. Itchy skin
g. Nausea
h. Swelling in the legs
i. Disorientation and drowsiness
j. Slurred speech
k. The development of spider-like vessels underneath the skin surface
Hepatic Fibrosis (Liver Cirrhosis) is a chronic liver disease where the normal liver tissue is replaced by bands of fibrous scar tissue separating nodules of regenerated liver cells leading to gradual loss of liver function.
It is likely to progress gradually and often does not produce any symptoms in its early stages.
When the function of the liver slowly becomes worse, serious complications can develop.
Diagnosis:
A doctor may detect that the liver is enlarged or that the patient is retaining fluid.
An ultrasound scan (or a CT or MRI scan) may show that the patient has a damaged liver.
If Hepatic Fibrosis (Liver Cirrhosis) is detected and diagnosed during the early stages of disease, any further damage to the liver may be prevented.
Treatment depends on the stage of disease and the underlying cause of the cirrhosis, but the overall goal is to slow disease progression and relieve symptoms.
This might be these approaches:
a. Treating alcohol dependency, often through rehabilitation programs for alcohol addicts
b. Weight loss plans for people with cirrhosis caused by non〓alcoholic fatty liver disease
c. Medicine that can help prevent liver damage caused by hepatitis B or C
d. Drugs to alleviate symptoms such as pain, tiredness and itching
When Hepatic Fibrosis (Liver Cirrhosis) is advanced, a liver transplant using a donor organ may be the only method for some patients.
A patient who is about to receive a liver transplant needs to go through extensive testing to ensure they are healthy enough to go through the procedure.

TABLE OF CONTENT
Introduction
Chapter 1 Hepatic Fibrosis
Chapter 2 Causes
Chapter 3 Symptoms
Chapter 4 Diagnosis
Chapter 5 Treatment
Chapter 6 Prognosis
Chapter 7 Hepatitis
Chapter 8 Alcoholism
Epilogue

Isolated Liver Perfusion for Hepatic Tumors【

The contributions in this book were originally presented at the workshop "Research and Clinical Application of Isolated Liver Perfusion for Hepatic Tumors" held on 28 February to 1 March 1997 in Hanover, Germany. The workshop was planned to bring together groups working with isolated liver perfusion techniques worldwide. Experts from various countries were invited to pre sent and discuss their experimental data and clinical results. USA par Groups from Japan, The Netherlands, Sweden and the ticipated. At the beginning, oncologists, surgeons and patholo gists presented possible indications and the oncological back ground for therapeutic isolated liver perfusion from their points of view. Based on data from previous studies about loco regional chemotherapy and based on the pathology of metastasis, it could be concluded that there is a place for isolated liver perfusion in the therapy of liver cancer. Second, different surgical techniques of isolated liver perfusion were presented. These techniques var ied from a percutaneous approach with extracorporeal chemofil tration to extended open abdominal surgery. Perfusion of the liv er without a considerable amount of drug reaching the systemic circulation proved to be possible. The complex procedure with complicated extracorporeal perfusion technique represented a disadvantage of the methods presented. Further studies should simplify the technical and surgical aspects. Intraoperative and postoperative management of . patients undergoing isolated liver perfusion were also discussed. Coagulopathy was one important aspect which can occur during isolated liver perfusion. The per centage of leakage determined systemic side effects.

Extreme Hepatic Surgery and Other Strategies Increasing Resectability in Colorectal Liver Metastases【

This book describes the diagnoses; staging and management of patients with colorectal liver metastases initially considered unresectable and portrays the different strategies to increase resectability along with their tactics and tricks. Colorectal carcinoma is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in the world and according to recent cancer statistics around 1.23 million patients are diagnosed each year. Of these patients, approximately 50% will develop liver metastases during the course of their disease and around 15-25% are found to have stage IV disease at diagnosis. Liver resection has been recognized as the treatment of choice for these patients, offering overall 5-year survival rates of up to 50-60% and the only hope for cure. However, at diagnosis only 10-20% of these patients are possibly amenable to surgical resection with curative intent. The possibility to achieve an R0 resection is many times limited by the amount and quality of the future liver remnant (FLR), being posthepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) the most feared and severe complication after major liver resections. With the years, diverse strategies have been developed with the intention to increase resectability by increasing the future liver remnant and/or reducing tumor size, e.g. ALPPS. Along with these techniques, associated surgeries are developed including multivisceral resections, which broadens even more the resectability for patients.

Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Manifestations of Rheumatic Diseases【

This book presents research outcomes, providing a big picture of rheumatic diseases as systemic conditions, and exploring the correlation between liver dysfunction and gastrointestinal lesions. Each chapter presents the association between major rheumatic diseases and hepato-gastrointestinal lesions, including liver and gastrointestinal involvement in lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, systemic sclerosis, Bechet’s disease, and IgG4-related disease. The chapters on PBC-CREST syndrome and immunosuppressive agents broaden readers understanding and enable them to view the diseases from a systematic perspective. Although the disease is rare, it has attracted considerable attention as an intractable disease, and despite the severity of the symptoms, little has been written on the topic. Adopting a multidisciplinary approach, this comprehensive volume thoroughly prepares readers for research in the field of systemic diseases.

Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Manifestations ofRheumatic Diseases is a valuable resource not only for hepatologists and rheumatologists, but also clinical residents and medical students.
