Damit wirkte Religion der individuellen irdischen Freiheit direkt entgegen und verwies lediglich auf ein jenseits besseres, gerechtfertigtes Leben bei Gott. Martin Luther setzte dieser Sichtweise radikal die den Schriften des Paulus entnommene Auffassung entgegen, dass der Christenmensch gerade im Hier und Jetzt frei sein m?sse.
