About the Book
One day Anna Harris was remembering growing up on a farm in Leavenworth, KS. As she thought about that, she began to write the memories of things that had happened during her life. She thought it would be fun to share her memories with her community. She began writing a new story each week for her local newspaper. She had so many folks telling her as each story was written how much they enjoyed it. Then they started encouraging her to write a book! As the memories continued to flood her mind and folks told her how much they enjoyed her stories, she decided why not!
She began gathering the memories she had shared and adding more as they continued to come to her. Some of them were FUN stories and some were fond memories of family and friends that were around her family as she grew up.
Memories of her family members and all they did on the farm flooded back to her. Each story reminded her of another one. The pages grew and grew! She wishes her mom and dad had lived to be able to read the book. She can almost hear her dad saying, “So, Tut Tut, you think you are a writer now.” He would have been so proud. Her mom would have been even more! She can hear her saying, “Anna Marie!” or “That’s My Anna!”
She is so glad that Mom and Dad adopted her at birth. She was wanted and loved just as if she were their own blood.
She would like to thank everyone who has encouraged her to do this. She would also encourage you to write your own story. Scattered The making and unmaking of a refugee【電子書籍】[ Aamna Mohdin ]

**A Guardian book to look out for in 2024**

'A compelling story from a gifted storyteller … In a moment where refugees are often talked about but rarely heard from, her voice breaks through' GARY YOUNGE

A staggering investigation into the costs and consequences of displacement, from a young woman uniquely placed to explore the refugee experience and its aftershocks

In 2015, Aamna Mohdin travelled to Calais to report from the frontlines of the refugee crisis. When she returned to London, and discussed what she had seen with her parents, their response surprised her: didn't she remember being a refugee herself?

Aamna was faced with a reality she had been outrunning for nearly two decades: that her parents had been refugees of the Somali civil war; and that her arrival in the UK aged seven had been preceded by an early childhood in a refugee camp, followed by years of displacement and desperation ? as her family, sometimes together but often separated, fought for a place to call home.

For the first time, Aamna's parents told her their story: of the lives they had built in the newly independent Somalia, and the shattering effects of civil war that followed. From London, she travelled to Somalia, a homecoming to a place that had never been home; before retracing her parents' flight to Kenya, and the Kakuma refugee camp ? the site of a very present refugee crisis, now three decades in the making.

Scattered is a staggering investigation into the costs and consequences of displacement, from a young woman uniquely placed to explore the refugee experience and its aftershocks. A powerful reportage, it is also an epic story of returns and reunions; and a joyful celebration of family and belonging.

'The only way out of the crisis of exclusion sweeping across the Atlantic Ocean is storytelling … In so luminously recounting the story of her family Mohdin achieves an imaginative breakthrough that everyone should read' SAMUEL MOYN, Professor of Law and History at Yale University

The Scattered Court Hindustani Music in Colonial Bengal【電子書籍】[ Richard David Williams ]

Presents a new history of how Hindustani court music responded to the political transitions of the nineteenth century.

How far did colonialism transform north Indian music? In the period between the Mughal empire and the British Raj, how did the political landscape bleed into aesthetics, music, dance, and poetry? Examining musical culture through a diverse and multilingual archive, primarily using sources in Urdu, Bengali, and Hindi that have not been translated or critically examined before, The Scattered Court challenges our assumptions about the period. Richard David Williams presents a long history of interactions between northern India and Bengal, with a core focus on the two courts of Wajid Ali Shah (1822?1887), the last ruler of the kingdom of Awadh. He charts the movement of musicians and dancers between the two courts in Lucknow and Matiyaburj, as well as the transregional circulation of intellectual traditions and musical genres, and demonstrates the importance of the exile period for the rise of Calcutta as a celebrated center of Hindustani classical music. Since Lucknow is associated with late Mughal or Nawabi society and Calcutta with colonial modernity, examining the relationship between the two cities sheds light on forms of continuity and transition over the nineteenth century, as artists and their patrons navigated political ruptures and social transformations. The Scattered Court challenges the existing historiography of Hindustani music and Indian culture under colonialism by arguing that our focus on Anglophone sources and modernizing impulses has directed us away from the aesthetic subtleties, historical continuities, and emotional dimensions of nineteenth-century music.

Scattered My Year As An Accidental Caregiver【電子書籍】[ Jana Panarites ]

In November 2009 Jana Panarites was scrambling to make ends meet in LA. Her career spiraling out of control, she didn't think life could get any worse until she learned of her father's sudden death two days before Thanksgiving. She flew east for the funeral, and was forced to confront her future head-on at the sight of her devastated eighty-year-old mother. After living her entire adult life in LA and New York City, the second generation Greek-American decided to move back into her childhood home in Maryland--determined to save her career and her one remaining parent. In Scattered: My Year As An Accidental Caregiver, Panarites takes readers on an unvarnished, hair-raising journey of reinvention, inspired by love and a dwindling bank account. Her tale of attempting to advance her career while attending to medical appointments, household chores, and a flood of grief-related emotions raises issues of family loyalty, the strain of caregiving, resilience, and the repercussions of a romantic marriage for those left behind after death. Fast-paced, compelling, and filled with dark humor despite the seriousness of the subject, Scattered sheds a much-needed light on the plight of baby boomers everywhere, eager to thrive in their own lives but put to the test by aging parents--and often unprepared for what lays ahead.

The Scattered Winds【電子書籍】[ Bill Fitts ]

The time of the Thunder Lord draws nigh: a promise fulfilledーor forever denied. In the land that men call Narne, evil is stirring. The battle of dark versus light begins anew.

Sokhal’s Star glowed in Kenrad’s hand as he held the pendant up.
“Come on, Kenrad.” Blumgar muttered aloud. “Time to fall back, lad.”
“What’s he waiting for?” Merkyn looked back at the Erramic archers. “If he doesn’t get out of the way, he’s going to get shot!”
The light of Sokhal’s Star went out. Kenrad staggered, sinking to his knees. As he fell, Pratha left his side and glided down the slope, muscles rippling under her fur. With an angry roar the Sand Cat made her presence known.
“Kenrad!” Blumgar lunged forward with Merkyn right behind. Heedlessly they charged down the slope. As Pratha struggled with the lead pirate, turning and twisting on the ground, a second pirate ran up screaming and bellowing. Sword in hand, he loomed over the writhing bodies of man and cat. The pendant in Kenrad’s hand spat out a tongue of light and the pirate burst into flame. His screams silenced everything else.

Scattered and Gathered Catholics in Diaspora【

This volume takes its title from the first-century Christian catechism called the Didache: "Even as this broken bread was scattered over the hills . . . gathered together and became one, so let Your Church be gathered together from the ends of the earth." For Christians today, these words remain relevant in an era of massive human movements (voluntary and coerced), hybrid identities, and wide-ranging cultural interactions. How do modern Christians live as both a "scattered" and "gathered" people? How do they live out the tension between ecclesial universality (catholicity) and particularity (distinctive ways of being church in a given culture and context)? Do Christians today constitute a "diaspora," a people dispersed across borders and cultures that nonetheless maintains a sense of commonality and mission? Scattered and Gathered: Catholics in Diaspora explores these questions through the work of fourteen scholars in different fields and from different corners of the world. Whether through reflections on Zimbabweans in Britain, Levantines in North America, or the remote island people of Chiloe now living in other parts of Chile, they guide readers along the winding road of insights and challenges facing many of today's Christians.

Scattered Light

By: Jay Blue

The poems in this collection have been selected as individual points of light, sourced from a diverse array of perspective across the strands of personal experience. Much as the morning sun shares its spectrum through the bevel of ancient glass, this collection too intends to refract your senses and intrigue your desire to see more. What follows are images in reality’s fabric, conjured of the imagination, and borrowed from hints of history. Each song belongs to a unique perception of heart tenderly and carefully stitched throughout. The poems are drawn through the wide angled lens of life and encompass images of love, war, humor, heartache, triumph and the essence of those living, dead, and imagined.

About the Author

Jay Blue is a father of five and married to his best friend, love of his life, and muse. Although his vocation has been electronics engineering for the past thirty-five years, Blue believes he was born a writer and poet. Throughout his life he has been immersed in various forms of expressed creativity including music, photography, and woodworking. In particular, he believes his decades as a drummer have influenced his rhythmic approach to poetry.
This book is a journey of what it's like to be in active addiction with untreated mental health issues in Vancouver, BC, Canada where we are experiencing a public health emergency due to a opioid crisis. It's an insight of what it's like to wait for a bed at a rehabilitation facility, what it's like having no fixed address and going through the food bank to get my meals, what it's like accepting the life inside institutionalized facilities, and finally, what it's like to live a life in early recovery.

My Chapbook is a curation of my personal narrative poetry including a preamble about where I was then and where I am nearly 10 years later after working on my mental health.

All poems have been performed as spoken word poetry originally and it's been an all time dream of mine to self publish the blood, sweat, and tears of my recovery. I hope what you read helps you understand the mindset and challenges of being in active addiction. There is so much social stigma and it needs to end.
