Deism Self-Refuted An Examination on the Principles of Infidelity Scattered Throughout the Different Works of Mons. Rousseau In Form of Letters【電子書籍】[ Bergier ]

|

Nicolas-Sylvestre Bergier (1718-1790) was a French Catholic theologian active during the Enlightenment. Born in Darney, Lorraine, and later passing away in Paris, he became one of the most esteemed Catholic apologists of his time-recognized even by Jean-Jacques Rousseau as a formidable philosophical opponent.

Bergier studied theology at the University of Besan?on, where he earned his doctorate before being ordained a priest. He later completed further studies in Paris, after which he was appointed to a parish and served as president of the city college, formerly administered by the Jesuits. In 1769, he was nominated by the Archbishop of Paris to join the cathedral chapter as a canon. Following this appointment, he relocated permanently to Paris, dedicating much of his career to apologetics and engaging with leading Enlightenment thinkers such as Rousseau, Voltaire, and Diderot.

Among his most notable works is Deism Self-Refuted, a collection of letters critiquing the theological and philosophical errors in Rousseau's ?mile: On Education and the Nature of Man.

This work is in the public domain in the United States of America and possibly in other nations. She longs to join the groundbreaking physics lab led by her father, the legendary Ernest Rutherford, at McGill University. But in an era confines women to domestic roles and separate classrooms, Elie finds herself trapped by societal expectations. Determined to follow her passion, she refuses to accept a marriage proposal that could shackle her ambition forever.

A century later, in 2006, William Hertz, a brilliant graduate physics student at McGill, lives an introverted life immersed in the world of astrophysics with his fellow misfit physicists. Wounded by past experiences, he keeps love at arm's lengthーuntil a mysterious woman, lost in time, crashes into his life.

When Elie concludes a lab mishap has catapulted her into the future, she must hide her identity to survive. But as her path crosses with William's, their shared love for physics kindles an undeniable connection. Together, they set out to recreate the experiment that could send Elie back to her time.
It was November 2015, and I had just received my advance copies of Scattered Thoughts, Volume Five, with a picture of my grandson and I on the cover. As I was sharing it with family and friends, I overheard my nephew say, Why is he on the cover? Whats he ever done? Hes only three! I decided right then that Volume Six (should there end up being one) would be dedicated to my three boys, Rick, Dallin, and Michael. The Scattered Family Parenting, African Migrants, and Global Inequality【電子書籍】[ Cati Coe ]
|

Today’s unprecedented migration of people around the globe in search of work has had a widespread and troubling result: the separation of families. In The Scattered Family, Cati Coe offers a sophisticated examination of this phenomenon among Ghanaians living in Ghana and abroad. Challenging oversimplified concepts of globalization as a wholly unchecked force, she details the diverse and creative ways Ghanaian families have adapted long-standing familial practices to a contemporary, global setting.

Drawing on ethnographic and archival research, Coe uncovers a rich and dynamic set of familial concepts, habits, relationships, and expectationsーwhat she calls repertoiresーthat have developed over time, through previous encounters with global capitalism. Separated immigrant families, she demonstrates, use these repertoires to help themselves navigate immigration law, the lack of child care, and a host of other problems, as well as to help raise children and maintain relationships the best way they know how. Examining this complex interplay between the local and global, Coe ultimately argues for a rethinking of what family itself means.

The Scattered Gods Descent into Hades【電子書籍】[ Dan Bune ]
|

Scattered Gods: Descent into Hades

Introduction: Bathed in the playful dance of sunlight, Alex Thompson, a marine biologist whose gentle smile belied hidden depths, found solace swimming alongside a pod of dolphins in the Ocean Institute's vast aquarium. Their silent communication spoke volumes, a testament to the harmony between man and nature. However, their tranquility shattered when Olivia Walker's urgent voice crackled through the intercom, disrupting the peaceful scene.

Rushing into the bustling research lab, Alex was met by Olivia's worried expression, her sharp features etched with concern as she pointed to a pulsating red dot on a holographic map beneath New York City. "Anya," Olivia declared, her tone strained, "Her energy signature is fading." Standing beside her, Diana Archer, a picture of athleticism and focus, mirrored Olivia's apprehension.

In an instant, Alex's smile vanished. Anya, the enigmatic figure in a photograph on the lab desk, was in peril. She represented more than just a pretty face; she embodied a quest for self-discovery, a desire to break free from imposed expectations, and to embrace authenticity. Their mission transcended mere rescue; it held the key to their own liberation - Alex from the weight of his hidden identity, and Anya from the web of manipulation ensnaring her.

Emerging from the depths of the underworld, weary but victorious, the team blinked against the sunlight. Beside Alex stood Anya, her eyes radiating newfound strength. No longer defined by insecurity, she had tapped into her ancient lineage, forging a bond with Alex through shared hardship and a journey of self-realization.

Surveying the bustling cityscape, Alex felt a shift within himself. He had embraced his dual identity, no longer shackled by secrecy. A silent understanding passed between him and Anya; they had shed their masks, liberated from the expectations of others. This moment marked not an end, but a beginning - a chance to embark on a new chapter, to live authentically and together.

Cin?ma&Cie 28 Scattered subalternities: transnationalism, globalization and power【電子書籍】[ Ilaria A. De Pascalis ]

Who is the Subaltern in the current global frame? Has neoliberalism changed the experience of subalternity? How do subalterns write history and what kind of history is written about subalternity? Cin?ma&Cie’s special issue addresses these and other questions through various theoretical approaches. The essays argue for the importance of a multidisciplinary perspective and address issues of media representation from a variety of perspectives, such as visual culture, history, philosophy, and postcolonialism. They focus on contemporary subalternity, and especially on the migrant ? characterized by diaspora and condemned to invisibility by hegemonic power ? and the postcolonial subaltern ? who has now the possibility to express her/ himself in unexpected ways, in particular by using new media. The scattering and pervasiveness of media devices and gazes is discussed in depth in these essays, which delve into the dialectic between subaltern cultures and agency embodied in the subjects of representation.

Standing up Against Injustice A Memoir【電子書籍】[ Dr. Amadou Scattered Janneh ]

|

Standing Up Against Injustice Standing Up Against Injustice is both inspirational and instructive, emotional and riveting. A key element of this book is a focus on The Gambias human rights situation and political landscape political turmoil; prison conditions and the plight of prisoners; the death penalty and executions; detention without trial, disappearances, torture, and extrajudicial killings; and, political repression, and corruption. These are all addressed from Dr. Amadou Scattered Jannehs personal experience and knowledge as a trained journalist, political scientist, former cabinet minister, entrepreneur, former political prisoner sentenced to a life-term, and a leading critic of the dictatorial regime of President Yahya Jammeh. Standing Up Against Injustice looks at Amadous evolution from a seemingly shy pupil at Gunjur Primary School to a budding activist at Saint Augustines High School; from a leading anti-apartheid activist at The University of Tennessee to a cabinet minister, and a political prisoner jailed for life. There is an extensive discussion of prison conditions and his incarceration at the Gambias notorious Mile II Central Prisons where he saw prisoners being dragged away for execution in August 2012. The book concludes with a discussion of events leading to Dr. Jannehs release from prison through the intervention of the Rev. Jesse Jackson, and his expulsion to the United States in September 2012.

The Scattered Hearth: A Song of Embers Stone-Singer Chronicles, #2【電子書籍】[ T.K.ANGA ]
|

The Great Silence was not an end, but a beginning. Now, a generation later, the fragile peace of the last survivors is threatened by a quieter, more insidious extinction. The land, sick with the memory of a forgotten sin, is failing. A mysterious blight poisons the earth, a wasting sickness stalks the dens, and the song of their people has faded to a few, sorrowful embers.

Zuri, the inheritor of this broken history, is faced with an impossible choice: watch her clan wither and die, or lead a small, wounded party into a desolate and hostile world on a desperate quest for a myth. Haunted by the cryptic last words of a dying elder, she must seek out the other "scattered hearths"ーthe lost clans who survived the apocalypseーand try to weave a new song of healing from the threads of two broken histories.

But the world outside is no longer empty. A new empire is rising from the dust, forged by the brilliant and ruthless Khol, whose "Law of Fangs and Claws" offers a seductive and brutal clarity in a world of chaos. He sees Zuri's quest not as a mission of hope, but as a rival ideology, a narrative pathogen that must be eradicated.

Zuri's journey will lead her to a hidden sanctuary behind a thundering waterfall, where she finds a people as traumatized and mistrustful as her own. To save her world, she must first forge an alliance between two halves of a broken heart, a union that will be tested by the ghosts of the past, the brutal pragmatism of survival, and the terrible sacrifices that leadership demands.

The Scattered Hearth is a profound and thrilling epic about the difficult, necessary work of rebuilding a community. It is a story of how a society's health is woven from the strength of its connections, the courage of its leaders, and the stories it chooses to tell. To rekindle the embers of their world, they must first find the strength to sing together in the dark, a defiant harmony against the roar of a coming storm.

The Scattered Gods: Guardians of the Golden Age

Laughter is their weapon. Chaos is their playground.

The Golden Age is a distant memory, its legacy shrouded in myth and whispers. Now, a creeping darkness threatens to extinguish joy from the very fabric of existence. The Devourer, a formless entity that feeds on despair, stretches its tendrils across the cosmos, its influence casting a pall over countless worlds.

Hope dwindles, but a flicker of defiance remains. The Scattered Gods, once revered guardians, are scattered across time and space. Anya, a brilliant scientist thrust into a celestial conflict. Thor, the mighty god of thunder, grappling with the power of humor. Hermes, the trickster god, whose wit may be their only advantage. And Apollo, the sun god, whose celestial music could be the key to salvation.

When the Devourer's influence reaches Earth, their paths converge. Aided by a brilliant scientist, Dr. Walker, they must rediscover their powers and forge a bond stronger than any they've known. Their journey takes them through the labyrinthine Yggdrasil, a World Tree where logic crumbles and bacon reigns supreme. Here, they face bizarre creatures, nonsensical challenges, and a test of their comedic timing unlike any other.

Can the Scattered Gods reclaim their laughter, the very essence of the Golden Age, and use it as a weapon against the Devourer's soul-crushing despair? Or will the universe succumb to an eternity of joyless silence?

The Scattered Gods: Guardians of the Golden Age is a hilarious and heartwarming adventure that blends Norse mythology with science fiction, reminding us that even in the face of darkness, laughter can be the most potent weapon of all.

Scattered To be gathered - Ministry to Migrants【電子書籍】[ John Idoko ]

God is hastening the return of Christ. He is doing that by

making the proclamation of the gospel to people that

hitherto have been locked up in regions that were

considered closed to the Gospel. How is God doing this? He is

doing this by allowing cataclysms all over the world that are

causing massive movement of people from those spots to

other parts of the world. Few years ago, movement of

refugees from some parts of the Middle East to Europe

became a global problem. Migration of people (for whatever

reasons) has become a present day phenomenon that we

cannot avoid talking about. Even in missions missiologists

have come out with a new buzz word: "Diaspora missiology".

This is a new way of thinking. Unreached people can be

reached not only in their home lands but also everywhere

else because many of the unreached people are already

Diaspora people.

Here in Nigeria, people are also moving massively from

the Northwest, North central and Northeast to the South in

large numbers. Most of these people are not migrating as

refugees, though some are. The majority are moving

because of normal human migrations. This movement of

northern people to the South did not start today; it has been

there for ages. Maybe we are just awakening to this reality or

it is that the momentum has greatly increased in recent time.

From renowned mental health expert and speaker Dr. Gabor Mat?, Scattered Minds explodes the myth of attention deficit disorder (ADD/ADHD) as genetically basedーand offers real hope and advice for children and adults who live with the condition.

In this breakthrough guide to understanding, treating, and healing Attention Deficit Disorder, Dr. Gabor Mat?, bestselling author of The Myth of Normal, and himself diagnosed with ADD:

Demonstrates that the condition is not a genetic “illness” but a response to environmental stress

Explains that in ADD, circuits in the brain whose job is emotional self-regulation and attention control fail to develop in infancy ? and why

Shows how ‘distractibility’ is the psychological product of life experience

Allows parents to understand what makes their ADD children tick, and adults with ADD to gain insights into their emotions and behaviors

Expresses optimism about neurological development even in adulthood

Presents a program of how to promote this development in both children and adults

Whereas other books on the subject describe the condition as inherited, Dr. Mat? believes that our social and emotional environments play a key role in both the cause of and cure for this condition. In Scattered Minds, he describes the painful realities of ADD and its effect on children as well as on career and social paths in adults.

While acknowledging that genetics may indeed play a part in predisposing a person toward ADD, Dr. Mat? moves beyond that to focus on the things we can control: changes in environment, family dynamics, and parenting choices. He draws heavily on his own experience with the disorder, as both an ADD sufferer and the parent of diagnosed children. Providing a thorough overview of ADD and its treatments, without blaming anyone, Scattered Minds is essential and life-changing reading for the millions of ADD sufferers in North America today.

To Unite the Scattered Children of God Hope for the Spiritual Uniting of Humanity, from Isaiah to the Present Day【電子書籍】[ Stephen Finlan ]
|

To Unite the Scattered Children of God is an accessible exploration of hope for the spiritual uniting of humankind, in worship and in other ways, from Isaiah on down to present times. Several prophets shared this hope: "Many nations shall join themselves to the Lord on that day, and shall be my people" (Zech 2:11). To an even greater degree, Jesus set in motion a universalizing power. Jesus and Paul inspired hope for the uniting of Jews, Samaritans, and Gentiles into "one fold," in the "unity of the faith." The book also builds upon the work of Teilhard de Chardin regarding the convergence of the human race under the spiritual influence of Christ, the omega point of evolution. Insights from pneumatology, process theology, personalism, interfaith discussions, and world peace advocacy add to the discussion.

The Scattered Gods Descent into Hades (Illustrated Collectors Edition)【電子書籍】[ Dan Bune ]
|

???? The Scattered Gods: Descent into Hades (Illustrated Edition)

By Dan Bune

What if the gods weren't myths... but fractured memories waiting to awaken?

Dr. Alex Thompson is more than a world-renowned marine biologist - he's a god, reborn into a world that has forgotten its ancient magic. When a woman named Anya begins fading into the shadows of the underworld, Alex and a mismatched team of awakened legends must descend into the depths of Hades to rescue her - and in doing so, confront the shattered fragments of who they once were.

From bioluminescent oceans to vine-choked dreamscapes, the journey is one of myth, memory, and multidimensional mystery. Anya's forgotten power may be the key to restoring balance between realms - or destroying everything they know.

But the underworld doesn't give up its secrets without a fight.

This comic-inspired illustrated edition brings the epic saga to life like never before - with cinematic visuals, elemental power surges, godly confrontations, and a reimagined pantheon facing a dark force that feeds on doubt and disconnection.

Dive deep into a mythic sci-fi odyssey where ancient beings wear modern skins, and the battle for Earth's soul begins beneath the streets of New York.

??????????

"A mythological mind-bender with the heart of a hero's journey and the style of a cinematic dreamscape."

The Scattered Gods: Descent into Hades is a genre-defying blend of science fiction, mythology, and psychological depth - now made even more immersive with rich, comic-book-inspired illustrations that practically ripple off the page.

Dan Bune crafts a story where gods walk in lab coats, and dreams leak into waking reality. The characters are unforgettable: Alex, the ocean-whispering scientist torn between logic and divinity; Anya, a model haunted by ancient memories and untapped power; and Demeter, a mysterious guide whose connection to the Earth runs deeper than roots.

The narrative dives boldly into underworld realms, ancient ecosystems, emotional trauma, and spiritual awakening - all while asking one central question: What if your true identity was written in the stars and buried in your DNA?

The illustrated edition elevates the storytelling to another level. The bioluminescent underworld, vine-beasts, and astral battles are depicted in stunning, comic-style visuals that feel both grounded and mythic. It's as if Sandman met Avatar and called in the Matrix to help.

Bold, beautiful, and visionary - this book isn't just a read, it's a remembering.

Highly recommended for fans of Neil Gaiman, Madeleine Miller, Marvel's multiverse arcs, and anyone yearning for a story that bridges science, soul, and the divine.

Years Scattered Like Fallen Leaves【電子書籍】[ Stephen Saperstein Frug ]
|

In 1951, a pair of scientists at Cornell discovered time-travel. With the specter of the atomic bomb in the immediate background, they decide not to replicate Einstein's mistake of suggesting what might be a weapon to the political authorities. Instead, they decide to set up a clandestine research program, swearing all those who work on it to keep the secret.

Then, in 1991, a time traveler returns from 2031 with a disturbing message: no traveler and no message has ever come farther back from the moment in time when he left. No one knows why. All people know is that something happens on April 4, 2031, to prevent any news of the future.

This is the story of what happens next... if "next" is the right word for a narrative which, in the way of things, is necessarily non-linear.

Retcon is a mosaic narrative, a story composed out of other stories, with recurring characters and overlapping plots all forming a larger picture. It will be arranged in three movements, each made up of nine stories of approximately 15,000 words, which will be published as ebooks on a monthly schedule (with a brief break between movements).

If you love a juicy murder than The Nathan Hawk Murder Mysteries are right up your street. These witty and sharp thrillers are by tv scriptwriter and playwright Douglas Watkinson who has written everything from Z Cars to Midsomer Murders.
Scattered Remains sees Nathan hawk, a British detective turned private investigator, trying to fathom why a surgical plate has turned up in the middle of a local field. More to the point Hawk would like to find the body it was once attached to...
Hawk's charming, egotistical son Jaikie is in England for the premiere of a film he’s co-starring in. Important though that is, he’s far more interested in helping his father solve not just a medical mystery but a dramatic and gruesome killing.
Hawk’s romance with his friend, Dr Laura Peterson, is also blossoming. She learns from markings on the surgical plate that it was made for a young man called Patrick Scott who broke a metatarsal ski-ing. A day later she discovers that all trace of the injury and the person who sustained it have been wiped from the NHS computer. Who wants the world to believe that Patrick Scott never existed? And why?
This gripping murder mystery will keep you on tenterhooks from start to finish. Don't miss a fast paced, quirky and ... slightly dangerous addition to the Nathan Hawk Murder Mysteries.

Scattered Far and Wide The Naval Academy Class of '38 at War【電子書籍】[ Mr. Justin Laborde ]

Scattered Far and Wide follows the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1938 as they rise from junior officers to combat leaders in World War II’s most pivotal battles. Through firsthand accounts and deep research, Justin Laborde brings their stories of courage, sacrifice, and survival vividly to life.

Scattered Far and Wide tells the war stories of U.S. Naval Academy midshipmen from the Class of 1938. Commissioned on the eve of World War II, they faced the trials of combat as new officers from the early days of American involvement and as ships captains, pilots in leadership positions, and submariners in charge by VJ Day. Tested as young leaders, they bore the new burden of command while at the fore of the Pacific War’s largest and most pivotal campaigns. They felt the wind and spray in their faces and the percussion of ships’ guns and depth charges at the pivotal moment in their lives and careers, making their experiences unusually compelling, heartbreaking, andーmost assuredlyーinstructive.

From Pearl Harbor through the end of the war, these men fought and struggled for survival as part of the U.S. Navy’s Asiatic Fleet. In the early months of the conflict, they tried to stem the onslaught of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Some were captured and sent to brutal prisoner-of-war camps. Others took to the air from aircraft carriers as members of torpedo, bomber, and fighter squadrons during the Battles of the Coral Sea and Midway. Later in the war, a number served aboard submarines, experiencing some of the most legendary patrols in the history of the Silent Service.

Author Justin Laborde’s grandfather, Alden Laborde, was a member of the Class of 1938. Upon his death, Justin obtained a 1938 edition of The Lucky Bag, the Naval Academy’s yearbook. Reading the memoirs of Alden’s classmates, Justin realized he was well placed to tell the fascinating and unreported story of this class's experiences in World War II. He spent five years gathering primary materials and researching the histories and wartime tales. The young men who graduated from the Naval Academy in 1938 left Annapolis on the eve of war and faced its perils around the world. In the process, these junior officers earned medals and fame, left legacies of heroism and loss, and sparked tales of renown and bravery that reverberate today.

Scattered Crumbs A Novel【電子書籍】[ Muhsin Al-ramli ]

|

Set in an Iraqi village during the Iran-Iraq war, Scattered Crumbs critiques a totalitarian dictatorship through the stories of an impoverished peasant family. A father, a fierce supporter of Saddam Husseinーhere called only “The Leader”ーclashes with his artist son, who loves his homeland but finds himself literally unable to paint the Leader's portrait for his father's wall. The narrator remembers the disintegration of his family as he leaves the village to search for his cousin, even as he realizes that the only thing he really knows of this cousin is his absence. Translator Hanoosh says that the novel “evokes the processes of deterioration undergone both by the country and by the individual characters caught up in the maelstrom.” Scattered Crumbs was first published in Arabic in Cairo in 2000. This translation captures the subtle sarcasm of the original text and its elliptical rhythms.
