From Trauma 2 Triumph【電子書籍】[ Antoinette Spade ]

Love. What is it? Can a person describe love? Can love even be described? Throughout time, it has been heard that love can be defined in different ways. That there are different types and styles. It has been heard that love could be defined as an attraction (driven by the chemicals in our brains such as adrenaline, dopamine, and serotonin), an infatuation, a feeling, an emotion, an action and even as much as a choice. In this book you will read of how a woman experienced the Storge (empathy), Philia (friendly), Eros (romantic) types of love throughout her life at the onset of trauma that cost her identity, therefore, leading her through life searching for the only type of love that not only covered all her mistakes and bad decisions, but also experienced the only type of love that she needed called the Agape (unconditional) type of love. The trauma Antoinette experienced stemmed from various types of abuse she went through during her childhood at which when she reached her teen years had prompted her to embark on different endeavors during those years into the adult years of her life. The most crucial and important type of love there is to be found by everyone, including Antoinette. It was when she found that type of love did she realize that there really and truly was someone who did see her as a person, a human that noticed and loved her for who she was. Someone not only fully loved her, but also fully knew her even when she was in her mother’s womb. This love, my friend, was the love that she had been longing for, searching for her whole life. It took for her to experience this love that she finally recognized someone was chasing her all along and didn’t even know it. This love that was given to Antoinette was not merely because she was attracted by this someone, no, she was chosen by this someone because of the unconditional love that He had for her. He made a choice, which is an action. He made a sacrifice for her, but He knew He had to let her experience all that she did in order for her to find the love that she longed for. It has been 16 years since she has found this love and it hasn’t faded away for her, nor did it ever leave or hurt her, not one time. Because of this very reason, Antoinette would like to share who gave her this love and let you know that this love is being given to you too. I must assure you; Antoinette is of NO exception to this very love by any means and she would just like to share her story with you in hopes that you will find this very same love too. It doesn’t matter who we are, where we come from, or even what we did in our life because we too are worth being loved the very same way that she was at all costs. This love that Antoinette found was totally worth finding. She found it so worthy that she is willingly choosing to share it with all of us in hopes of us accepting the value of our own worth to accept this very same love too. The Great Exodus from China Trauma, Memory, and Identity in Modern Taiwan【電子書籍】[ Dominic Meng-Hsuan Yang ]

Dominic Meng-Hsuan Yang examines one of the least understood migrations in modern East Asia - the human exodus from China to Taiwan when Chiang Kai-shek's regime collapsed in 1949. Peeling back layers of Cold War ideological constructs, he tells a very different story from the conventional Chinese civil war historiography that focuses on debating the reasons for Communist success and Nationalist failure. Yang lays bare the traumatic aftermath of the Chinese Communist Revolution for the hundreds of thousands of ordinary people who were forcibly displaced from their homes across the sea. Underscoring the displaced population's trauma of living in exile and their poignant 'homecomings' four decades later, he presents a multi-event trajectory of repeated traumatization with recurring searches for home, belonging, and identity. This thought-provoking study challenges established notions of trauma, memory, diaspora, and reconciliation.

Summary of Laura van Dernoot Lipsky & Connie Burk's Trauma Stewardship【電子書籍】[ ? Everest Media ]

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 Trauma stewardship is a practice that involves tending to the hardship, pain, or trauma experienced by humans, other living beings, or our planet itself. It is not simply an idea, but a daily practice through which individuals, organizations, and societies tend to the hardship, pain, or trauma experienced by others. #2 The most important technique in trauma stewardship is to stay fully present in your experience, no matter how difficult. We must avoid binary thinking and instead pay attention to our experiences with curiosity. #3 We must maintain compassion for ourselves and others as we navigate our trauma exposure response. We must remember that we have the freedom to choose our path, and that we are responsible not only for ourselves but for others as well. #4 The more we can attend to this balance, the better our chances of achieving a sustainable practice of trauma stewardship. Between internalizing an ethic of martyrdom and ignoring ongoing crises, lies the balance that we must find in order to sustain our work.

Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness: Practices for Safe and Transformative Healing【電子書籍】[ David A. Treleaven ]

"[A] rare combination of solid scholarship, clinically useful methods, and passionate advocacy for those who have suffered trauma." ーRick Hanson, PhD, author of Buddha's Brain: The Practical Neuroscience of Happiness, Love, and Wisdom

From elementary schools to psychotherapy offices, mindfulness meditation is an increasingly mainstream practice. At the same time, trauma remains a fact of life: the majority of us will experience a traumatic event in our lifetime, and up to 20% of us will develop posttraumatic stress. This means that anywhere mindfulness is being practiced, someone in the room is likely to be struggling with trauma.

At first glance, this appears to be a good thing: trauma creates stress, and mindfulness is a proven tool for reducing it. But the reality is not so simple.

Drawing on a decade of research and clinical experience, psychotherapist and educator David Treleaven shows that mindfulness meditationーpracticed without an awareness of traumaーcan exacerbate symptoms of traumatic stress. Instructed to pay close, sustained attention to their inner world, survivors can experience flashbacks, dissociation, and even retraumatization.

This raises a crucial question for mindfulness teachers, trauma professionals, and survivors everywhere: How can we minimize the potential dangers of mindfulness for survivors while leveraging its powerful benefits?

Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness offers answers to this question. Part I provides an insightful and concise review of the histories of mindfulness and trauma, including the way modern neuroscience is shaping our understanding of both. Through grounded scholarship and wide-ranging case examples, Treleaven illustrates the ways mindfulness can helpーor hinderーtrauma recovery.

Part II distills these insights into five key principles for trauma-sensitive mindfulness. Covering the role of attention, arousal, relationship, dissociation, and social context within trauma-informed practice, Treleaven offers 36 specific modifications designed to support survivors’ safety and stability. The result is a groundbreaking and practical approach that empowers those looking to practice mindfulness in a safe, transformative way.

The Heart of Trauma: Healing the Embodied Brain in the Context of Relationships (Norton Series on Interpersonal Neurobiology)【電子書籍】[ Bonnie Badenoch ]

How each of us can become a therapeutic presence in the world.

Images and sounds of war, natural disasters, and human-made devastation explicitly surround us and implicitly leave their imprint in our muscles, our belly and heart, our nervous systems, and the brains in our skulls. We each experience more digital data than we are capable of processing in a day, and this is leading to a loss of empathy and human contact. This loss of leisurely, sustained, face-to-face connection is making true presence a rare experience for many of us, and is neurally ingraining fast pace and split attention as the norm.

Yet despite all of this, the ability to offer the safe sanctuary of presence is central to effective clinical treatment of trauma and indeed to all of therapeutic practice. It is our challenge to remain present within our culture, Badenoch argues, no matter how difficult this might be. She makes the case that we are built to seek out, enter, and sustain warm relationships, all this connection will allow us to support the emergence of a humane world.

In this book, Bonnie Badenoch, a gifted translator of neuroscientific concepts into human terms, offers readers brain- and body-based insights into how we can form deep relational encounters with our clients and our selves and how relational neuroscience can teach us about the astonishing ways we are interwoven with one another. How we walk about in our daily lives will touch everyone, often below the level of conscious awareness.

The first part of The Heart of Trauma provides readers with an extended understanding of the ways in which our physical bodies are implicated in our conscious and non-conscious experience. Badenoch then delves even deeper into the clinical implications of moving through the world. She presents a strong, scientifically grounded case for doing the work of opening to hemispheric balance and relational deepening.

The Inner World of Trauma Archetypal Defences of the Personal Spirit【電子書籍】[ Donald Kalsched ]

Donald Kalsched explores the interior world of dream and fantasy images encountered in therapy with people who have suffered unbearable life experiences. He shows how, in an ironical twist of psychical life, the very images which are generated to defend the self can become malevolent and destructive, resulting in further trauma for the person. Why and how this happens are the questions the book sets out to answer.
Drawing on detailed clinical material, the author gives special attention to the problems of addiction and psychosomatic disorder, as well as the broad topic of dissociation and its treatment. By focusing on the archaic and primitive defenses of the self he connects Jungian theory and practice with contemporary object relations theory and dissociation theory. At the same time, he shows how a Jungian understanding of the universal images of myth and folklore can illuminate treatment of the traumatised patient.
Trauma is about the rupture of those developmental transitions that make life worth living. Donald Kalsched sees this as a spiritual problem as well as a psychological one and in The Inner World of Trauma he provides a compelling insight into how an inner self-care system tries to save the personal spirit.

In this groundbreaking book, a leading clinical psychiatrist redefines how we think about and treat victims of trauma. A "stunning achievement" that remains a "classic for our generation." (Bessel van der Kolk, M.D., author of The Body Keeps the Score).

Trauma and Recovery is revered as the seminal text on understanding trauma survivors. By placing individual experience in a broader political frame, Harvard psychiatrist Judith Herman argues that psychological trauma is inseparable from its social and political context. Drawing on her own research on incest, as well as a vast literature on combat veterans and victims of political terror, she shows surprising parallels between private horrors like child abuse and public horrors like war.

Hailed by the New York Times as "one of the most important psychiatry works to be published since Freud," Trauma and Recovery is essential reading for anyone who seeks to understand how we heal and are healed.
