Daher war die Herausforderung umweltpolitischer Ma?nahmen das Abfallproblem. Deutschland stand vor riesigen M?llproblemen. Es kam zu einem sogenannten M?llnotstand, dass hei?t, keiner wusste mehr, wohin mit dem ganzen M?ll. Die Deponien waren teilweise schon voll, die ?brigen standen kurz davor. M?llverbrennungsanlagen waren wegen der Umweltbelastungen, die sie verursachen, umstritten. Die Frage nach einem Umweltprogramm wurde jedoch noch Ende der 60-er Jahre laut. In einer Regierungserkl?rung k?ndigte Bundeskanzler Willi Brandt (1969) die Schaffung eines bundeseinheitlichen Abfallgesetzes an. In dem ersten Abfallgesetz von 1972 galt allerdings das Motto: ' Aus den Augen, aus dem Sinn ', damit sich offensichtlich keiner mehr um das M?llproblem Sorgen machen musste. Der M?ll wurde in eine Grube oder auf ein sonstiges Grundst?ck in der N?he beiseite geschafft. Dort blieb er, verschandelte die Landschaft und bedrohte das Grundwasser. Diese alten M?llkippen wurden nach Beendigung der Nutzung meistens mit einer d?nnen Schicht Erde bedeckt und bepflanzt. Im Laufe der Zeit stellte man allerdings fest, dass der M?ll eben nicht aus der Welt geschaffen worden ist, sondern dauerhafte Probleme verursacht. Man spricht hierbei von sogenannten Altlasten. Viele M?llkippen mussten nachtr?glich abgedichtet werden, damit keine Gifte mehr ins Grundwasser gelangen. Der Gesetzgeber musste einsehen, dass von Beseitigung keine Rede sein konnte, und sprach danach von Entsorgung. Als der Begriff 'Kreislaufwirtschaft' zu Beginn der 90er Jahre in Deutschland eingef?hrt wurde, stand demnach die Umweltpolitik vor gro?en Herausforderungen: wachsende M?llberge, drohender Entsorgungsnotstand und Verschwendung von Ressourcen, verursacht durch einen Ex- und- Hopp- Konsum. In addition, companies can hardly grow or make profit in the long run due to stagnant or shrinking markets and increasing internationalisation. Continuous improvement or enhancements of production technology and the products themselves lead to the fact that products are even more substituted. Thus, it is not sufficient to sell only good products but the service is coming more to the fore from customer's point of view. This change in general conditions leads to a focusing on customer orientation. While the acquisition of new customers was formerly relevant, today's instruments regarding the customer retention gain more importance. Companies recognized that satisfied customers considerably contribute to corporate success. Empirical studies showed that it is five times more expensive to acquire a new customer and considerably cost extensive to recover a lost customer than binding existing customers.1 Dissatisfied customers change to competition or harm the company via negative word-ofmouth propaganda. Permanent customer relations in comparison do have a profit- as well as cost-advantage. Customer retention leads to more profit due to the buying frequency, crossselling- effects and cost savings in consequence of saved acquisition costs and efficiency advantages. Further chances result from the decreasing price sensitivity of the customer. Beside of the direct profit impacts of customer retention, indirect impacts on further customer relations occur, e.g. recommendations of satisfied customers.
