Pedometrics in Brazil【電子書籍】

楽天Kobo電子書籍ストア

In a world expected to reach a population of almost 10 billion inhabitants by 2050 and facing rapid global warming, it is essential to develop studies to better characterize and preserve the existing environmental heritage. Among these assets, soil stands out, which is fundamental for the balance of life on the planet (air quality and composition, temperature regulation, carbon and nutrient cycling, water cycling and quality, natural "waste" (decomposition) treatment and recycling, and habitat for most living things and their food). Due its importance, Soil information is increasing recently in order to attend human demands for land use management and capability, reduce erosion risks and soil security, for example. Particularly in Brazil, advances in soil science are now required to attend the new national systematic soil survey that have as a goal soil sustainability and security. Gathering machine learning tools, pedometrics and pedological concepts is a way to achieve these demands regarding soil data and related products. This book summarizes remarkable insights from the II Pedometrics Brazil Conference providing cutting-edge information to researchers, students and professionals working with soils in tropical countries such as Brazil.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。 20,662円

An Introduction to Modern Econometrics Using Stata【電子書籍】[ Christopher F. Baum ]

楽天Kobo電子書籍ストア

An Introduction to Modern Econometrics Using Stata, by Christopher F. Baum, successfully bridges the gap between learning econometrics and learning how to use Stata. The book presents a contemporary approach to econometrics, emphasizing the role of method-of-moments estimators, hypothesis testing, and specification analysis while providing practical examples showing how the theory is applied to real datasets by using Stata.

The first three chapters are dedicated to the basic skills needed to effectively use Stata: loading data into Stata; using commands like generate and replace, egen, and sort to manipulate variables; taking advantage of loops to automate tasks; and creating new datasets by using merge and append. Baum succinctly yet thoroughly covers the elements of Stata that a user must learn to become proficient, providing many examples along the way.

Chapter 4 begins the core econometric material of the book and covers the multiple linear regression model, including efficiency of the ordinary least-squares estimator, interpreting the output from regress, and point and interval prediction. The chapter covers both linear and nonlinear Wald tests, as well as constrained least-squares estimation, Lagrange multiplier tests, and hypothesis testing of nonnested models.

Chapters 5 and 6 focus on consequences of failures of the linear regression model’s assumptions. Chapter 5 addresses topics like omitted-variable bias, misspecification of functional form, and outlier detection. Chapter 6 is dedicated to non-independently and identically distributed errors, and it introduces the Newey?West and Huber/White covariance matrices, as well as feasible generalized least-squares estimation in the presence of heteroskedasticity or serial correlation. Chapter 7 is dedicated to the use of indicator variables and interaction effects.

Instrumental-variables estimation has been an active area of research in econometrics, and chapter 8 commendably addresses issues like weak instruments, underidentification, and generalized method-of-moments estimation. In this chapter, Baum extensively uses his wildly popular ivreg2 command.

The last two chapters briefly introduce panel-data analysis and discrete and limited-dependent variables. Two appendices detail importing data into Stata and Stata programming. As in all chapters, Baum presents many Stata examples.

An Introduction to Modern Econometrics Using Stata can serve as a supplementary text in both undergraduate- and graduate-level econometrics courses, and the book’s examples will help students quickly become proficient in Stata. The book is also useful to economists and businesspeople wanting to learn Stata by using practical examples.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。 5,125円

Microeconometrics Using Stata, Second Edition, Volume II: Nonlinear Models and Casual Inference Methods【電子書籍】[ A. Colin Cameron ]

楽天Kobo電子書籍ストア

Every applied economic researcher using Stata and everyone teaching or studying microeconometrics will benefit from Cameron and Trivedi's two volumes. They are an invaluable reference of the theory and intuition behind microeconometric methods using Stata. Those familiar with Cameron and Trivedi's Microeconometrics: Methods and Applications will find the same rigor. Those familiar with the previous edition of "Microeconometrics Using Stata" will find the familiar focus on Stata commands, their interpretation, and their connection with microeconometric theory as well as an introduction to computational concepts that should be part of any researcher's toolbox. And readers will find much moreーso much more the second edition required a second volume.

This new edition covers all the new Stata developments relevant to microeconometrics that appeared since the the last edition in 2010. For example, readers will find entire new chapters on treatment effects, duration models, spatial autoregressive models, lasso, and Bayesian analysis. But the authors didn't stop there. They also added discussions of the most recent microeconometric methods that have been contributed by the Stata community.

The first volume introduces foundational microeconometric methods, including linear and nonlinear methods for cross-sectional data and linear panel data with and without endogeneity as well as overviews of hypothesis and model-specification tests. Beyond this, it teaches bootstrap and simulation methods, quantile regression, finite mixture models, and nonparametric regression. It also includes an introduction to basic Stata concepts and programming and to Mata for matrix programming and basic optimization.

The second volume builds on methods introduced in the first volume and walks readers through a wide range of more advanced methods useful in economic research. It starts with an introduction to nonlinear optimization methods and then delves into binary outcome methods with and without endogeneity; tobit and selection model estimates with and without endogeneity; choice model estimation; count data with and without endogeneity for conditional means and count data for conditional quantiles; survival data; nonlinear panel-data methods with and without endogeneity; exogenous and endogenous treatment effects; spatial data modeling; semiparametric regression; lasso for prediction and inference; and Bayesian econometrics.

With its encyclopedic coverage of modern econometric methods paired with many worked examples that demonstrate how to implement these methods in Stata, "Microeconometrics Using Stata, Second Edition" is a text that readers will come back to over and over for each new project or analysis they face. It is an essential reference for applied researchers and those taking microeconometrics courses.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。 9,692円

Psychological Statistics and Psychometrics Using Stata【電子書籍】[ Scott Baldwin ]

楽天Kobo電子書籍ストア

Psychological Statistics and Psychometrics Using Stata by Scott Baldwin is a complete and concise resource for students and researchers in the behavioral sciences. Professor Baldwin includes dozens of worked examples using real data to illustrate the theory and concepts. This book would be an excellent textbook for a graduate-level course in psychometrics. It is also an ideal reference for psychometricians who are new to Stata.

Baldwin's primary goal in this book is to help readers become competent users of statistics. To that end, he first introduces basic statistical methods such as regression, t tests, and ANOVA. He focuses on explaining the models, how they can be used with different types of variables, and how to interpret the results. After building this foundation, Baldwin covers more advanced statistical techniques, including power-and-sample size calculations, multilevel modeling, and structural equation modeling. This book also discusses measurement concepts that are crucial in psychometrics. For instance, Baldwin explores how reliability and validity can be understood and evaluated using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Baldwin includes dozens of worked examples using real data to illustrate the theory and concepts.

In addition to teaching statistical topics, this book helps readers become proficient Stata users. Baldwin teaches Stata basics ranging from navigating the interface to using features for data management, descriptive statistics, and graphics. He emphasizes the need for reproducibility in data analysis; therefore, he is careful to explain how version control and do-files can be used to ensure that results are reproducible. As each statistical concept is introduced, the corresponding commands for fitting and interpreting models are demonstrated. Beyond this, readers learn how to run simulations in Stata to help them better understand the models they are fitting and other statistical concepts.

This book is an excellent textbook for graduate-level courses in psychometrics. It is also an ideal reference for psychometricians and other social scientists who are new to Stata.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。 5,514円

Flexible Parametric Survival Analysis Using Stata: Beyond the Cox Model【電子書籍】[ Patrick Royston ]

楽天Kobo電子書籍ストア

Researchers wishing to fit regression models to survival data have long faced the difficult task of choosing between the Cox model and a parametric survival model, such as Weibull. Cox models are fit using Stata’s stcox command, and parametric models are fit using streg, which offers five parametric forms in addition to Weibull. While the Cox model makes minimal assumptions about the form of the baseline hazard function, prediction of hazards and other related functions for a given set of covariates is hindered by this lack of assumptions; the resulting estimated curves are not smooth and do not possess information about what occurs between the observed failure times. Parametric models offer nice, smooth predictions by assuming a functional form of the hazard, but often the assumed form is too structured for use with real data, especially if there exist significant changes in the shape of the hazard over time.

Flexible Parametric Survival Analysis Using Stata: Beyond the Cox Model is concerned with obtaining a compromise between Cox and parametric models that retains the desired features of both types of models. The book is aimed at researchers who are familiar with the basic concepts of survival analysis and with the stcox and streg commands in Stata. As such, it is an excellent complement to An Introduction to Survival Analysis Using Stata by Cleves, Gould, and Marchenko.

This book is written for Stata 12 but is fully compatible with Stata 11 as well.

Much of the text is dedicated to estimation with Royston?Parmar models using the stpm2 command, which is maintained by the authors and available from the Statistical Software Components (SSC) archive at www.repec.org. Royston?Parmar models are highly flexible alternatives to the exponential, Weibull, loglogistic, and lognormal models (fit using streg) that allow extension from proportional hazards to proportional odds and to scaled probit models. Additional flexibility is obtained by the use of restricted cubic spline functions as alternatives to the linear functions of log time used in standard models. The authors demonstrate fitting these models and graphing predicted hazards, cumulative hazards, and survival functions with real data from breast cancer and prostate cancer studies.

After some introductory material on the motivation behind flexible parametric models and on working with survival data in Stata, the authors proceed by demonstrating that Cox models may instead be expressed as Poisson models by splitting the time scale at the observed failures. The Poisson-model expression allows for extension by changing how the time scale is split and by introducing restricted cubic splines and fractional polynomials.

Royston?Parmar models are then introduced, followed by material on model building and diagnostics for these models. Considerable attention is then given to time-dependent effects, how these may be modeled, and how to interpret the graphs of the predicted functions that the models produce. This material is followed by a chapter on relative survival models, such as those used for population-based cancer studies. This chapter is very thorough, relates well to the previous material, and is an ideal introduction for those new to the concepts of relative survival and excess mortality. The final chapter is devoted to advanced topics, such as determining the number needed to treat (NNT), handling multiple-event data, and analyzing competing risks.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。 5,125円

Environmental Econometrics Using Stata【電子書籍】[ Christopher F. Baum ]

楽天Kobo電子書籍ストア

Environmental Econometrics Using Stata is written for applied researchers that want to understand the basic theory of modern statistical methods and how to use them. It is also perfectly suited for teaching. Each chapter is motivated with real data and ends with a set of exercises. The book is also inherently interdisciplinary. The questions posed by environmental issues are relevant to researchers in the physical sciences, economics, sociology, political science, and public health, among other fields.

Each chapter begins with a real dataset and research question. The authors then provide an introduction to the statistical method and demonstrate how to use it to answer the research question. The authors discuss the assumptions about the data and the model, demonstrate the Stata commands used to fit the model and check the model assumptions, and interpret the results. The workflow of the book mimics the workflow that would be required to present your results to an academic audience.

The book is of interest not only for its exposition of the topics but also for its breadth. The book presents estimators for continuous, binary, and ordered outcomes in cross-sectional data; univariate and multivariate time series with stationary and nonstationary data; linear and dynamic panel data; and spatial models and fractional integration.
Health Econometrics Using Stata by Partha Deb, Edward C. Norton, and Willard G. Manning provides an excellent overview of the methods used to analyze data on healthcare expenditure and use. Aimed at researchers, graduate students, and practitioners, this book introduces readers to widely used methods, shows them how to perform these methods in Stata, and illustrates how to interpret the results. Each method is discussed in the context of an example using an extract from the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey.

After the overview chapters, the book provides excellent introductions to a series of topics aimed specifically at those analyzing healthcare expenditure and use data. The basic topics of linear regression, the generalized linear model, and log and Box?Cox models are covered with a tight focus on the problems presented by these data. Using this foundation, the authors cover the more advanced topics of models for continuous outcome with mass points, count models, and models for heterogeneous effects. Finally, they discuss endogeneity and how to address inference questions using data from complex surveys.

The authors use their formidable experience to guide readers toward useful methods and away from less recommended ones. Their discussion of "health econometric myths" and the chapter presenting a framework for approaching health econometric estimation problems are especially useful for this aspect.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。 4,623円

SYMMETRIC KEY CRYPTOGRAPHY WITH PYTHON AND TKINTER【電子書籍】[ Vivian Siahaan ]

楽天Kobo電子書籍ストア

In the evolving landscape of data security, encryption algorithms play a crucial role in safeguarding sensitive information. This book delves into several prominent encryption algorithms, including AES, DES, 3DES, Blowfish, and CAST. Each algorithm offers unique strengths and is suitable for different use cases. Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) stands out for its robust security and efficiency, making it a preferred choice for many modern applications. Data Encryption Standard (DES), while historically significant, has largely been replaced by Triple DES (3DES), which enhances DES's security by applying it multiple times. Blowfish, a versatile and fast cipher, and CAST, known for its flexibility in key lengths, are also explored for their practical applications in various security scenarios.

To provide a hands-on approach, this book includes detailed Python examples and Tkinter-based graphical user interfaces for each encryption algorithm. These practical examples illustrate how to implement these ciphers in real-world applications, from basic encryption and decryption processes to more complex use cases involving secure data handling and user interaction. Through these examples, readers will gain a comprehensive understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of encryption, empowering them to implement secure solutions tailored to their specific needs.

In chapter two, we discussed the development of a Tkinter-based GUI application for AES encryption and decryption of synthetic data. The application consists of multiple tabs: one for displaying original data, one for showing encrypted data, another for decrypted data, and a fourth for entering and managing passwords. Key functionalities include generating a synthetic dataset with various attributes like UserID, Name, and Email, encrypting and decrypting this data using AES encryption in GCM mode, and displaying the results in a ttk.Treeview. The application also features password management, allowing users to set a password, generate an encryption key from it, and update the displays accordingly.

The code includes several methods for data encryption and decryption, key derivation, and DataFrame management. The generate_data_intelligence_dataset method creates synthetic data, while encrypt_data and decrypt_data methods handle AES encryption and decryption. The update_displays method updates the DataFrame with encrypted and decrypted data and saves these to Excel files. The display_dataframe method dynamically displays DataFrames in the Tkinter GUI, with alternating row colors for better readability. This session detailed how each part of the code contributes to creating a rich and interactive application for handling encrypted data.

In chapter three, we explored a detailed Tkinter application designed for managing and visualizing Bitcoin transaction data. The application generates synthetic data including wallet addresses, transaction types, dates, Bitcoin amounts, and their USD equivalents. Users enter an 8-byte DES key to encrypt Bitcoin amounts using DES encryption. The encrypted data is displayed in a tab within the Tkinter GUI, and users can view a histogram showing the distribution of Bitcoin amounts, both before and after encryption.

The application leverages various Python libraries: tkinter for the GUI, pandas for data manipulation, Crypto.Cipher.DES for encryption, and matplotlib for plotting. Key functions include generating synthetic Bitcoin data, encrypting data with DES, and visualizing data distributions. The GUI is structured with tabs for entering the password, viewing original and encrypted data, and displaying distribution graphs. The session detailed how each function works, from generating Bitcoin addresses and transaction data to encrypting and decrypting data and plotting results.

In chapter four, we discussed a Python code that integrates a Tkinter GUI with Triple DES (3DES) encryption and SQLite database management. The code encompasses the setup of an SQLite database, encryption and decryption of transaction data using 3DES, and functions for saving and retrieving encrypted transaction records. Key functions include generating a 3DES key, encrypting and decrypting data with appropriate padding, and handling database operations with retry logic to manage potential locking issues. We explored the database setup with table creation, and transaction management, and incorporated robust error handling to ensure reliable operation.

The GUI implementation leverages Tkinter for user interaction and display, including functions to generate 3DES keys, handle encryption/decryption operations, and manage transaction records in an SQLite database. The session covered detailed explanations of how each part of the code operates, from database setup and key generation to data encryption/decryption and transaction storage. This comprehensive approach ensures secure handling of sensitive data and integrates encryption functionalities within a user-friendly interface, demonstrating practical applications of cryptographic techniques in a real-world scenario.

In chapter five, we detailed a Python script using Tkinter for a secure cloud storage application leveraging Blowfish encryption. The script includes several core functionalities: user authentication, file upload and download, and cryptographic operations. Key aspects include helper functions for generating and verifying HMACs, as well as Blowfish encryption and decryption. The GUI is organized into tabs for user login/register, file upload, file download, and logs. Functions are defined to handle file selection, encryption, upload, HMAC generation, and downloading, ensuring that data integrity is maintained through HMAC verification and secure file handling.

The Tkinter-based GUI is designed to provide a user-friendly interface for interacting with the secure cloud storage system. The SecureCloudStorageApp class initializes and configures the GUI with tabs for different functionalities. It manages user login, registration, file selection, and storage operations. The application supports encryption and decryption of files, storing encrypted data and HMACs, and provides feedback through a log and message boxes. This setup ensures secure data handling and user management, integrating cryptographic functions seamlessly into a functional application interface.

In chapter six, we discussed and refined a Python script for managing file encryption and decryption using the CAST cipher, implemented with a Tkinter graphical user interface (GUI). The script includes functions for generating encryption keys, encrypting and decrypting files, and handling file uploads and downloads. It also features user authentication and registration mechanisms, utilizing bcrypt for password hashing and checking. The GUI allows users to perform these actions through a series of buttons and input fields, with status updates and error messages displayed in a scrollable text area.

We further improved the script by adding error handling for file operations and ensuring proper file path management. Enhancements included better user feedback through message boxes for errors related to file reading, JSON decoding, and user actions. These improvements aimed to make the application more robust and user-friendly, ensuring reliable file management and secure encryption practices. The final version also addressed exceptions and edge cases to enhance the overall reliability and functionality of the Tkinter-based application.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。 1,627円
