Dies wird auch durch den Bau des R?mischen Hauses sichtbar. Das in der ersten H?lfte der neunziger Jahre des 18. Jahrhunderts erbaute Haus war das fr?heste reine Beispiel klassizistischen Bauens in Deutschland. Die Anordnung der einzelnen Bauteile verr?t, dass der Formenvorrat jeglicher antiker (vor allem griechischer) Baukunst f?r den Bauherrn und Architekten frei verf?gbar waren. Au?erdem wird geschildert, welchen Einfluss Andrea Palladio, ein italienischer Architekt aus der Zeit des Manierismus, auf Goethe hatte und somit durch sein Nachleben das Bauwerk in Weimar indirekt beeinflusste. Soweit es m?glich und sinnvoll ist, werden stets die Bez?ge zu Palladio gesucht, da diese Arbeit auf der Grundannahme beruht, dass das Interesse Goethes, durch seine Zeit in Italien und damit verbunden durch die wissenschaftliche Auseinandersetzung mit palladianischen Bauten, f?r klassizistisches Bauen geweckt wurde und dass der deutsche Dichter, sich stets an den Schriften Palladios (und auch Vitruvs) orientierte, um sein Ziel, ein m?glichst detailgetreues Haus nach r?mischem Vorbild zu bauen, zu erreichen. Des Weiteren wird geschildert, wie das Haus in den Park des Ilmtals eingef?gt worden ist. The Second Book deals with private houses and mansions, almost all of Palladio's own design.
