This book fills the gap by contributing to a "fourth wave" of literature concerned with the trade-offs imposed by drone warfare for global order. The book draws on the "English School" of International Relations Theory, which is premised on the existence of a society of states bounded by common norms, values, and institutions, to argue that drone warfare imposes contradictions on the structural and normative pillars of global order. These consist of the structure of international society and diffusion of military capabilities, as well as the sovereign equality of states and laws of armed conflict. The book presents a typology of contradictions imposed by drone warfare within and across these axes that threaten the legitimacy of global order. This framework also suggests a confounding consequence of drone warfare that scholars have not hitherto explored rigorously: drone warfare can sometimes strengthen global order. Von der Freyheith eines Christenmenschen ist der Titel einer aus 30 Thesen bestehenden Denkschrift Martin Luthers aus dem Jahr 1520. Das Werk Luthers geh?rt zu seinen bedeutendsten Schriften zur Reformationszeit. Anlass f?r die Schrift war die gegen Martin Luther gerichtete p?pstliche Bannbulle. Im Mittelalter galt das Christentum als heilige Ordnung, welche jedem Menschen einen festen, von Gott vorbestimmten Platz zuordnete. Die Kirche als Ganzes hatte zwar laut dem Evangelium die Freiheit, diese Ordnung im Wesentlichen nach eigenem Gutd?nken festzulegen (im Gegensatz zur Bindung an ein detailliertes g?ttliches Gesetz, wie es das Judentum kannte). Der einzelne Mensch aber hatte sich in diese Ordnung einzuf?gen. Nur durch die Einf?gung in die Ordnung und die Erf?llung vielf?ltiger, von der Kirche definierter formaler Pflichten hatte der Christ gem?? der bis dahin verbindlichen Rechtfertigungslehre Teil am Heil Christi. Damit wirkte Religion der individuellen irdischen Freiheit direkt entgegen und verwies lediglich auf ein jenseits besseres, gerechtfertigtes Leben bei Gott. Martin Luther setzte dieser Sichtweise radikal die den Schriften des Paulus entnommene Auffassung entgegen, dass der Christenmensch gerade im Hier und Jetzt frei sein m?sse. Luther begr?ndet dies damit, dass der Mensch nicht durch Taten, sondern allein durch den Glauben gerechtfertigt sei. Allerdings hatte auch Paulus christlichen Sklaven dazu geraten, sich nicht gegen (christliche) Herren zur Wehr zu setzen, da wahre Freiheit nur im Glauben an Jesus Christus zu finden sei.
