Fifty years after the release of their eponymous debut album in 1967; Ten Years After returned with A Sting in the Tale. Original members Ric Lee & Chick Churchill, complemented by Colin Hodgkinson on bass and multi-award-winning guitarist/vocalist Marcus Bonfanti, were keen to record a studio album that showcased the new lineup that had been touring the world as Ten Years After to great critical acclaim. A Sting in the Tale was engineered and produced by Bonfanti at his 'Cricklewood Green' Studios in Cricklewood, North London. Each member met individually with Bonfanti, using him as a 'central writing hub' and crafted the songs before 'full band' rehearsals were used to hone them in to Ten Years After songs. The subject material on the album ranges from childhood memories of growing up in post war Britain, songs of love lost to the rock n roll lifestyle as well as sincere odes to a life well lived. | 8,164円 |

These tracks are combined with old favourites such as I'd Love to Change the World, Hear Me Calling, Good Morning Little Schoolgirl and I'm Going Home. Also included is the semi-acoustic section of their live show, which contains three tracks from the very early days in 1967: Portable People, Don't Want You Woman & Losing The Dogs. By the time of Stonedhenge in early 1969, Ten Years After were truly on their way - inroads had been made in America, and with closest rivals Cream now disbanded, the path was clear for their stardom they were to enjoy in the early 70s. Reaching the UK Top 10, and the Billboard 200, Stonedhenge found the group expanding their formula, with some psychedelia (Going To Try), jazzy improvisation (Skoobly-Oobly-Doobob) and fine blues-metal (Hear Me Calling). The first act signed to the Chrysalis agency, the group built a fearsome reputation for their live act, with leader Alvin Lee dubbed 'the fastest guitar in the west. 'It was frequently said that the real magic happened for Ten Years After on stage, so it was with little surprise that the group's second album, Undead, was just that - recorded live at Klook's Kleek, the club above the Railway Hotel in West Hampstead - right next door to Decca's studios. Cables were passed back from the pub to the studio, and the band were captured at an early peak. It is a unique marriage of blues, rock, with elements still of trad jazz to be heard - none moreso than on their eight- minute version of Woody Herman's Woodchopper's Ball.
