Titanic: The Final Voyage【電子書籍】[ F. Mark Granato ]

100 years after the most infamous shipwreck in history, imagine the world if Titanic
didn’t sink.

Perhaps no disaster in history has endured the scrutiny reserved for the sinking of the RMS Titanic on her maiden voyage on April 15, 1912. Yet nearly a century after the disaster, there is perhaps one question that remains unanswered about the legendary British steamship: What if Titanic didn’t sink and the rich and poor she carried had survived that terrible night?

Titanic was a marvel of luxury and innovation. But it was the names on her passenger list that said it all. The British Liner’s first trek across the Atlantic was not just an adventure for the well to do. It was a happening. The voyage was a gathering of pre-war power and influence where deals were done, markets were made and futures were set. Titanic was the world’s greatest symbol of wealth and success for the very fewest. For those who could afford the enormous price of a first class stateroom, it was the place to be.

But after colliding with an iceberg while recklessly racing across the North Atlantic, eminent Captain Edward J. Smith learns that his ship is doomed -- unless he makes decisions that can save Titanic and her remarkable cargo against all odds.

Twenty years later, Titanic has enjoyed a successful career and the privileged who sailed on her maiden voyage have become the world’s wealthiest financiers and industrialists. All have one thing in common: the power to influence history.

A new President, himself a Titanic survivor, is slowly leading the United States out of economic depression but international hostilities are building again and another World War is inevitable. He reaches out to his fellow Titanic survivors to forge a plan that will bring lasting world peace.
Together, can they rewrite the course of history?

Or have they once again unwittingly boarded Titanic on her final voyage?

She was steerage, which is third class, and was saved in a bundle of cloth, but would have no memory of what happened.

In the poem Lightoller tells her what happens on his final deck inspection, one hour and forty minutes before the Titanic hit’s the Iceberg.

He tells his story in the first person present, to give the impression he’s closing his eyes remembering and reliving, for the first time since the Titan sank. Goebbels-The Evil Within and the Titanic Lie【電子書籍】[ I D Oppenhiem ]

This short and concise history (approx 5,000 words) deals in part with an horrific ending to a ship once used as a 'replica' of the ship RMS Titanic for the making of the later banned Nazi propaganda movie known generally as Titanic 1943.

It also covers some history surrounding the man ultimately responsible, not just for the making of the film, but of the fate of the thousands on board this same ship during its last moments.

The words 'Titanic Lie' are intended in this instance to cover not just this film, but also to a far greater degree, the actions and deeds perpetrated using the political banner as a legitimate weapon against dignity, respect, and humanitarian rights of others, and the man who signed himself as 'Herr Doktor' whose lasting legacy could only be one of hate.

Written as an introduction to this subject, the author has included some of the major influences affecting the life of Goebbels which may have contributed to his views towards other races and likewise may have contributed to his eagerness to emerge superior from the masses. But it should also be remembered that Goebbels was quick to change direction should this suit his purpose and was indeed a master of manipulation and opportunism.

The reader is left to consider whether indeed it was his ignorance which led him on this path or some other weakness that allowed him to become the monster he became.

Atlantic's Last Stop Courage, Folly, and Lies in the White Star Line's Worst Disaster Before Titanic【電子書籍】[ Bob Chaulk ]

In the pre-dawn hours of April 1, 1873ーas the lookouts looked, the steersman steered, and the captain sleptーsomething was happening to the SS Atlantic. The tide had quietly carried the White Star Line ocean liner twelve miles off course, and land was closer than anybody realizedーor was willing to believe. The wreck of the SS Atlantic would become the worst transatlantic passenger ship disaster before Titanic, and although it happened almost 150 years ago, there are still many unanswered questions. That is changing. Ten years after co-authoring the most celebrated book to date on Nova Scotia's worst shipwreck, author Bob Chaulk has uncovered never-reported information that answers the question historians have been grappling with for over a century: why a state-of-the-art steamship, with all equipment in perfect working order, in good weather, and commanded by officers of the world's leading seafaring nation, ended up striking rock outside Halifax and sinking, resulting in some 550 deaths. Over a five-year period, Chaulk tracked down many descendants of those on the scene and aboard the ship, patiently piecing their stories together to reveal a shocking conclusion. This richly illustrated work, featuring maps and colour photos, includes many firsthand accounts from passengers, crew, officers, and local rescue people.

The Titanic and the City of Widows It Left Behind The Forgotten Victims of the Fatal Voyage【電子書籍】[ Julie Cook ]

"Harrowing and emotional . . . A tribute to the enduring power of family. The story of the disaster's widows uplifts and devastates in equal measure." ーGareth Russell, author of The Ship of Dreams
When the Titanic foundered in April 1912, the world's focus was on the tragedy of the passengers who lost their lives. Ever since, in films, dramatizations, adaptations and books, the focus has mostly continued to be on the ones who died.
The Titanic and the City of Widows It Left Behind focuses on another group of peopleーthe widows and children of the crew who perished on board.
Author Julie Cook's great-grandfather was a stoker who died on the Titanic. Her great-grandmother had to raise five children with no breadwinner.
This book focuses on Emily and the widows like her who had to fight for survival through great hardship, while still grieving for the men they loved who'd died on the ship. Using original archive sources and with accounts from descendants of crew who also lost their lives, the book asks how these women survived through abject poverty and griefーand why their voices have been silent for so long.
"The sinking of the Titanic has produced a wealth of books, articles, films and TV documentaries, all of which have given very little thought to the dependents and friends of those who lost their lives in this ocean tragedy. A moving and involving story that corrects this neglect, told by a descendant of a Titanic widow . . . How most of them survived the grief and grinding hardship is a story worth the telling, as are the stories of those who did not survive the crushing pressures."

Olympic Titanic Britannic The anatomy and evolution of the Olympic Class【電子書籍】[ Simon Mills ]

The Titanic. The Britannic. The Olympic. They are some of the most famous ships in history, but for the wrong reasons.

The Olympic Class liners were conceived as the largest, grandest ships ever to set sail. Of the three ships built, the first only lost the record for being the largest because she was beaten by the second, and they were both beaten by the third. The class was meant to secure the White Star Line's reputation as the greatest shipping company on earth. Instead, with the loss of both the Titanic and the Britannic in their first year of service, it guaranteed White Star's infamy.

This unique book tells the extraordinary story of these three extraordinary ships from the bottom up, starting with their conception and construction (and later their modification) and following their very different careers. Behind the technical details of these magnificent ships lies a tragic human story ? not just of the lives lost aboard the Titanic and Britannic, but of the designers pushing the limits beyond what was actually possible, engineers unable to prepare for every twist of fate, and ship owners and crew who truly believed a ship could be unsinkable.

This fascinating story is told with rare photographs, new computer-generated recreations of the ships, and unique wreck images that explore how well the ships were designed and built. Simon Mills offers unparalleled access to shipbuilders Harland & Wolff's specification book for the Olympic Class, including original blueprints and - being made widely available for the first time - large fold-out technical drawings showing how these extensive plans were meant to be seen.
