AROUND THE MOON【電子書籍】[ Jules Verne ]

楽天Kobo電子書籍ストア

Summary :

Around the Moon is the continuation of From the Earth to the Moon.
The story begins at the moment when From the Earth to the Moon ends.

The projectile designed by the Gun Club was fired from the gigantic Columbiad gun. On board are Barbicane, Nicholl and Ardan, who begin a five-day journey to the Moon. No sooner had this journey begun than the projectile failed to be hit by an asteroid that passed within a few hundred metres of them. The asteroid was captured in the Earth's gravitational pull zone, making it a second Moon of the Earth.

During their journey, the three men experience other adventures. They are intoxicated by various gases that temporarily prevent them from breathing. Miscalculating, they momentarily think that their course has been deviated and that they are now heading towards the Earth. Later, they understand that their encounter with the asteroid has indeed caused them to deviate from their original course: while the projectile was planned to land on the Moon, it enters orbit with the Moon.

Barbicane, Ardan and Nicholl take the opportunity to make observations, thanks to a small long view, of the Moon's geography. Then, the projectile heads towards the Moon's northern hemisphere, i.e. the part kept in shadow. It is now extremely cold and everything is plunged into darkness. Finally, the projectile reaches the light again and regains its warmth. It is now heading towards the southern hemisphere. The three men, safe in their shelters, can observe the spectacular view of Tycho, one of the largest craters on the Moon. The travellers wonder about the possibility of life on the Moon, then conclude in the negative. They agree, however, that it must have been inhabited in the past.

The projectile is now moving away from the Moon and is approaching the neutral point, the point where the Moon's gravity and that of the Earth are at equal force. Michel Ardan has an idea: the idea is to use the recoil force of the rockets, located underneath the projectile and which were to serve to cushion their landing, to propel themselves to the Moon and carry out their mission.

When the projectile reaches the neutral point, they launch several rockets, but this operation was carried out too late. The projectile begins its course towards the Earth and is about to reach it at a prodigious speed. All hopes seem lost for the three explorers.

But four days later, the team of a US Navy vessel spotted a meteor falling towards the sea. It is in fact the projectile, which is fished out: the three men are alive and well. They are welcomed and celebrated with enthusiasm: they are the first men to have left Earth.

If you like the summary of the book, buy now the English digital version of this book for the low price of a cup of coffee.

ー

What is the linguistic level of this text?

The level of this text is A1, which means that it can be read, without difficulty, by beginners (adults or children).

What is the format of this book?

Each version of a book from the ≪ Bilingual Bookstore ≫ is in ".epub" format.

This format is optimised to be easily imported, on your reader (kindle, kobo etc...) or on your application (apple books, googles books).

However, we will always help you in case of problems.

How to read a bilingual edition?

For a selected book, you must buy a version in the foreign language you wish to learn and buy another version in your mother tongue.

On the ≪ Bilingual Bookstore ≫, each sentence of each version is numbered.

So, when you read a book in a foreign version and do not understand a sentence, you can easily find the disturbing sentence thanks to its numbering in the version of the book in your mother tongue.

ー

Buy now the English digital version of this book for the low price of a cup of coffee.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。 80円

Eight Hundred Leagues on the Amazon【電子書籍】[ Jules Verne ]

A book of remarkable and thrilling adventures, very much in the style of Mr. Verne's previous books, and adapted to interest either boy-readers or adults. The "Giant raft" is as immense as the "Steam house," and the characters and incidents quite as original. The story opens with the finding of a paper of hieroglyphics by an adventurer in a Brazilian forestーhe puts it wiih some gold coin in a silver case, places it near his head, and falls asleep. The object excites the attention of a "guariba" (whom Mr. Verne describes at length), and he steals it and makes off; after this follows a long string of queer adventures connected with the silver case.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。 200円

What do dogs know and understand of the world? Do their emotions feel like our own? Do they love like we do?

Driven by his own love of dogs, Charles Darwin was nagged by questions like these. To root out answers, his contemporaries toyed with dog sign language. To reveal clues, they made special puzzle boxes and elaborate sniff tests using old socks. Later, the same perennial questions about the minds of dogs drove Pavlov and Pasteur to unspeakable cruelty in their search for truth. These big names in science influenced leagues of psychologists and animal behaviourists, each building upon the ideas and received wisdom of previous generations but failing to see what was staring them in the face ? that the very methods humans used to study dogs' minds were influencing the insights reflected back.

To discover the impressive cognitive feats that dogs are capable of, a new approach was needed. Treated with love and compassion, dogs would open up their unique perspective on the world, and a new breed of scientists would be provided answers to life's biggest questions.

Wonderdog is the story of those dogs ? a historical account of how we came to know what dogs are capable of. It's a celebration of animal minds and the secrets they hold. And it's a love letter to science, through the good times and the bad.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。 1,914円

60 Seconds that Shaped the Blues

Reflecting on the Blues' rich history, this official publication focuses on 60 key moments that have helped shape the wonderful club that is Chelsea FC.

A collection of memorable games, goals, players and managers, 60 Seconds that Shaped the Blues charts the ups and downs of the club, and will, hopefully, bring some fond memories and emotions flooding back.

Written by G2 founder and owner Jules Gammond, this new official Chelsea FC hardback 60 Seconds That Shaped The Blues is available as an eBook from November priced at 〓4.99.

The fully illustrated publication highlights 60 key moments that have shaped the history of the club from the day that it was founded in the Rising Sun Public House in 1905 to the victory over Manchester City in this year's Champions League Final.

Many of the magical moments are from the last couple of decades under the ownership of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich during which time the Blues have won two Champions Leagues, five Premierships, five FA Cups, three League Cups and two Europa Leagues.

Not that they were entirely unsuccessful before, as the Stamford Bridge trophy cabinet already included a first league title, three more FA Cups and two Cup Winners' Cups.

Chelsea FC Women have been no less prolific, winning five league titles, two FA Cups and two League Cups. But this book is not exclusively about triumphs, it recalls those important milestones in Chelsea Football Club's life story, the year it was founded, the chairmen and managers who made an indelible mark over the years, the record scores and classic games, the goal scorers and legends, that have each contributed to the rich tapestry that is Chelsea FC.

Comments Gammond: " Having been a supporter for more than 50 years, I have been privileged to have witnessed many of the highs and lows first hand, including that soggy night in Moscow when, but for a slip by captain John Terry in the penalty shoot-out, we would have won three Champions League trophies by now. And while our fans sing about being 'carefree' it is because we care so deeply that this collection of magical moments will bring a tear to the eye and lump to the throat of all true Blues 'wherever you may be'."
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。 760円

Sherred is the kitchen whisperer for chronic pain folks like me who have avoided that room in the house for most of my life." --J. Albert Mann, author of The Degenerates and FixA comprehensive guide and recipe collection that brings the economy and satisfaction of home cooking to disabled and neurodivergent cooks.cripping / crip up: A term used by disabled disability rights advocates and academia to signal taking back power, to lessen stigma, and to disrupt ableism as to ensure disabled voices are included in all aspects of life. When Jules Sherred discovered the Instant Pot multicooker, he was thrilled. And incensed. How had no one told him what a gamechanger this could be, for any home cook but in particular for those with disabilities and chronic illness? And so the experimenting--and the evangelizing--began. The kitchen is the most ableist room in the house. With 50 recipes that make use of three key tools--the electric pressure cooker, air fryer, and bread machine--Jules has set out to make the kitchen accessible and enjoyable. The book includes pantry prep, meal planning, shopping guides, kitchen organization plans, and tips for cooking safely when disabled, all taking into account varying physical abilities and energy levels.Organized from least to greatest effort (or from 1 to "all your spoons," for spoonies), beginning with spice blends and bases, Jules presents thorough, tested, inclusive recipes for making favourites like butter chicken, Jules's Effin' Good Chili, Thai winter squash soup, roast dinners, matzo balls, pho, samosas, borshch, shortbread, lemon pound cake, and many more.Jules also provides a step-by-step guide to safe canning and a template for prepping your freezer and pantry for post-surgery. With rich accompanying photography and food histories, complete nutritional information and methods developed specifically for the disabled and neurodivergent cook, Crip Up the Kitchen is at once inviting, comprehensive, and accessible. If you've craved the economy and satisfaction of cooking at home but been turned off by the ableist approach of most cookbooks--this one's for you! 7,339円
