Ion Exploring artistic inspiration and divine madness in Plato's philosophical masterpiece【電子書籍】[ Plato ]

In "Ion," Plato presents a compelling dialogue that interrogates the nature of artistic inspiration and the role of the poet within society. Set in the backdrop of Ancient Greece, the text is characterized by Plato'??s typical Socratic method, engaging the reader through dialectical reasoning and philosophical inquiry. The work delves into the distinction between knowledge and inspiration, particularly in the context of poetry, positing that poets are not true creators of knowledge but rather channels of divine inspiration, echoing the era's debate on the value and purpose of art in moral and intellectual life. Plato, a pivotal figure in Western philosophy, was profoundly shaped by his experiences in the political and cultural turbulence of Athens. His interactions with notable contemporaries such as Socrates and the Sophists, alongside his disillusionment with democracy, fueled his exploration of ideal forms and the pursuit of truth. "Ion" reflects these philosophical concerns, particularly his critical assessment of the role of poets in influencing public thought and virtue. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in the intersections of art, ethics, and philosophy. Plato'??s nuanced arguments invite readers to reconsider preconceived notions of creativity and its societal implications, making it essential for students, scholars, and anyone passionate about the philosophical underpinnings of literature.

In "Ion," Plato explores the nature of poetic inspiration through a dialogue between Socrates and the rhapsode Ion. The text masterfully dissects the relationship between the poet, the audience, and the divine, positioning poetry as a medium that evokes emotion rather than communicates knowledge. The literary style is characterized by Socratic dialogue, employing probing questions that reveal deeper philosophical insights on art and its role in society. This work is situated in the context of Classical Athens, where the interplay between thought and creativity was undergoing significant examination, reflecting the intellectual currents of Plato's time. Plato, a pivotal figure in Western philosophy, often grappled with the implications of art and beauty in his works. His experiences in a society rich in cultural expression, combined with his educational background as a student of Socrates, deeply informed his analysis in "Ion." The text serves as a critical reflection of his concerns regarding the influence of poetic art on moral and intellectual development, providing insight into his broader philosophical inquiries. "Ion" is a must-read for anyone interested in the philosophy of art and the dynamics of artistic expression. By engaging with Plato's thoughts, readers will gain a profound appreciation for the complexities of creativity and inspiration, enriching their understanding of both poetry and philosophy.

Buffers for pH and Metal Ion Control【電子書籍】[ D. Perrin ]

This book is intended as a practical manual for chemists, biologists and others whose work requires the use of pH or metal-ion buffers. Much information on buffers is scattered throughout the literature and it has been our endeavour to select data and instructions likely to be helpful in the choice of suitable buffer substances and for the preparation of appropriate solutions. For details of pH measurement and the preparation of standard acid and alkali solutions the reader is referred to a companion volume, A. Albert and E. P. Serjeant's The Determination of Ionization Constants (1971). Although the aims of the book are essentially practical, it also deals in some detail with those theoretical aspects considered most helpful to an understanding of buffer applications. We have cast our net widely to include pH buffers for particular purposes and for measurements in non-aqueous and mixed solvent systems. In recent years there has been a significant expansion in the range of available buffers, particularly for biological studies, largely in conse quence of the development of many zwiUerionic buffers by Good et al. (1966). These are described in Chapter 3.

Effectology? is a philosophical concept developed by Ion Grumeza that examines the dynamics of accidents and their effects. Even minor accidents and incidental occurrences can have unexpected effects, resulting in enormous consequences. Consider the following examples:

?In 1920, King Alexander's pet ape, Moritz, fought with Fritz, his pet dog. As the Greek king was breaking up the fight, Moritz bit him, and he soon died of septicemia. Therefore, Moritz and Fritz decided the fate of Constantinople. It would belong to the Turks after the king died, and the Greeks never waged war to reclaim their ancient city.

?Medieval alchemists' vain search for gold led to accidental discoveries, giving us today's table of elements.

?After forgetting his culture of staphylococci, Alexander Fleming found mold growing on it. This led to his discovery of Penicillium notatum.

This book deals with human relations, society, politics, business, war, the arts, health and more. By reading Effectology, you will gain insight into the significance of accidents and their effects.

Reuse and Recycling of Lithium-Ion Power Batteries【電子書籍】[ Guangjin Zhao ]

A comprehensive guide to the reuse and recycling of lithium-ion power batteriesーfundamental concepts, relevant technologies, and business models

Reuse and Recycling of Lithium-Ion Power Batteries explores ways in which retired lithium ion batteries (LIBs) can create long-term, stable profits within a well-designed business operation. Based on a large volume of experimental data collected in the author’s lab, it demonstrates how LIBs reuse can effectively cut the cost of Electric Vehicles (EVs) by extending the service lifetime of the batteries. In addition to the cost benefits, Dr. Guangjin Zhao discusses how recycling and reuse can significantly reduce environmental and safety hazards, thus complying with the core principles of environment protection: recycle, reuse and reduce.

Offering coverage of both the fundamental theory and applied technologies involved in LIB reuse and recycling, the book's contents are based on the simulated and experimental results of a hybrid micro-grid demonstration project and recycling system. In the opening section on battery reuse, Dr. Zhao introduces key concepts, including battery dismantling, sorting, second life prediction, re-packing, system integration and relevant technologies. He then builds on that foundation to explore advanced topics, such as resource recovery, harmless treatment, secondary pollution control, and zero emissions technologies.

Reuse and Recycling of Lithium-Ion Power Batteries:

? Provides timely, in-depth coverage of both the reuse and recycling aspects of lithium-ion batteries

? Is based on extensive simulation and experimental research performed by the author, as well as an extensive review of the current literature on the subject

?
Sokrates f?ngt nun an, ihn schalkhaft auszufragen.
Ion - Plato - Plato is a Classical Greek philosopher, mathematician, student of Socrates, writer of philosophical dialogues, and founder of the Academy in Athens, the first institution of higher learning in the Western world. Along with his mentor, Socrates, and his student, Aristotle, Plato helped to lay the foundations of Western philosophy and science. Plato is one of the most important Western philosophers, exerting influence on virtually every figure in philosophy after him. His dialogue The Republic is known as the first comprehensive work on political philosophy. Plato also contributed foundationally to ethics, metaphysics, and epistemology. His student, Aristotle, is also an extremely influential philosopher and the tutor of Alexander the Great of Macedonia Plato is widely considered a pivotal figure in the history of Ancient Greek and Western philosophy, along with his teacher, Socrates, and his most famous student, Aristotle. He has often been cited as one of the founders of Western religion and spirituality. The so-called neoplatonism of philosophers, such as Plotinus and Porphyry, greatly influenced Christianity through Church Fathers such as Augustine. Alfred North Whitehead once noted: "the safest general characterization of the European philosophical tradition is that it consists of a series of footnotes to Plato." Plato was an innovator of the written dialogue and dialectic forms in philosophy. Plato is also considered the founder of Western political philosophy. His most famous contribution is the theory of Forms known by pure reason, in which Plato presents a solution to the problem of universals known as Platonism (also ambiguously called either Platonic realism or Platonic idealism). He is also the namesake of Platonic love and the Platonic solids. His own most decisive philosophical influences are usually thought to have been, along with Socrates, the pre-Socratics Pythagoras, Heraclitus and Parmenides, although few of his predecessors' works remain extant and much of what we know about these figures today derives from Plato himself. Unlike the work of nearly all of his contemporaries, Plato's entire body of work is believed to have survived intact for over 2,400 years. Although their popularity has fluctuated, Plato's works have consistently been read and studied. Little can be known about Plato's early life and education due to the very limited accounts. Plato came from one of the wealthiest and most politically active families in Athens. Ancient sources describe him as a bright though modest boy who excelled in his studies. His father contributed everything necessary to give to his son a good education, and Plato therefore must have been instructed in grammar, music, gymnastics and philosophy by some of the most distinguished teachers of his era.
