They strengthen the mobilization power of movements, extend movement networks, facilitate new modes of protest participation, and give rise to new protest formations. Meanwhile, conventional media remains an important arena where protesters and their targets contest for public support. This book examines the role of the media -- understood as an integrated system comprised of both conventional media institutions and digital media platforms -- in the formation and dynamics of the Umbrella Movement in Hong Kong. For 79 days in 2014, Hong Kong became the focus of international attention due to a public demonstration for genuine democracy that would become known as the Umbrella Movement. During this time, twenty percent of the local population would join the demonstration, the most large-scale and sustained act of civil disobedience in Hong Kong's history -- and the largest public protest campaign in China since the 1989 student movement in Beijing. On the surface, this movement was not unlike other large-scale protest movements that have occurred around the world in recent years. However, it was distinct in how bottom-up processes evolved into a centrally organized, programmatic movement with concrete policy demands. In this book, Francis L. F. Lee and Joseph M. Chan connect the case of the Umbrella Movement to recent theorizations of new social movement formations. Here, Lee and Chan analyze how traditional mass media institutions and digital media combined with on-the-ground networks in such a way as to propel citizen participation and the evolution of the movement as a whole. As such, they argue that the Umbrella Movement is important in the way it sheds light on the rise of digital-media-enabled social movements, the relationship between digital media platforms and legacy media institutions, the power and limitations of such occupation protests and new "action logics," and the continual significance of old protest logics of resource mobilization and collective action frames. It directs our attention from state-based sovereignty to city-based democracy, and emphasizes the importance of participation and cohabitation. The book also examines how the ideas of Hannah Arendt are useful to those happenings much beyond the political circumstances that gave rise to her theorization. The book pays particular attention to the actual intersubjective experiences during the protest. These experiences are local, fragile, and sometimes inarticulable, therefore resisting rationality and debates, but they define the fullness of any individual, and they also make politics possible. Using the Umbrella Movement as an example, this book examines the “freed” political agents who constantly take others into consideration in order to guarantee the political realm as a place without coercion and discrimination. Wir gehen hierbei besonders auf die Rolle der freien Gewerkschaft Solidarnosc f?r den Wandlungsprozess ein. Im darauffolgenden Teil werden wir die Geschichte der Demokratisierung Ungarns in zweigeteilter Form darlegen. Als erstes wird aufgezeigt, dass Ungarn nach dem Aufstand von 1956 ein Land war, das unter dem Regierungschef Janos Kadar zu einem reformwilligen Land innerhalb des Ostblocks wurde. Im zweiten Teil wird dargelegt, warum es trotzdem zu Problemen auf wirtschaftlicher und politischer Ebene kam, und wie sie gel?st wurden. Eine ?ffnungspolitik und wirtschaftlichen Reformen, die einen Wachstumsschub h?tten erwarten lassen k?nnen, waren bis zum Ende der Mao-Herrschaft in den 1970er Jahren nicht vorhanden. Im Folgenden werden daher zun?chst die Entwicklungen nach dem 2. Diese unmissverst?ndliche Aussage in einem recht aktuellen Aufsatz zum Thema soll mir als Hinf?hrung und zugleich These dienen, wenn es darum geht, dieses komplexe und spannungsreiche Jahrzehnt hinsichtlich der Entwicklungen im deutschen Katholizismus zu beleuchten. Auch wenn es verwundern mag, stellte sich die Thematik als relativ frisches Forschungsthema heraus. W?hrend ein Wandel der Religiosit?t der Deutschen anhand verschiedener statistischer Untersuchungen bereits in den 70er Jahren festgestellt wurde, sind entsprechende Auswertungen vermehrt erst in den 90er Jahren entstanden. Aufgrund des begrenzten Umfangs wird sich diese Arbeit - soviel nimmt das Titel vorweg - ausschlie?lich auf den Katholizismus, vor allem aber auch ausschlie?lich auf die Bundesrepublik Deutschland beziehen, die im Vergleich zur westdeutschen Sicht g?nzlich verschiedene Situation in der DDR m?chte ich bewusst ausklammern. Obwohl der Titel dieser Arbeit den Focus sehr deutlich auf die Jahre ab 1960 setzt, sei vorweg auch erw?hnt, dass ein derart pr?zise zeitliche Abgrenzung an sich nicht m?glich ist. Auch wenn die 60er Jahre aus Sicht des Katholizismus die einschneidendsten und sichtbarsten Ver?nderungen mit sich brachte, m?chte und kann ich die unmittelbare Zeit davor nicht ausblenden. So ist es auch Anliegen dieser Arbeit, neben den gesellschaftlichen Aspekten vor allem auf die Besonderheiten des katholischen Milieus einzugehen sowie das II. Vatikanische Konzil als wichtiges innerkirchliches Reformwerk der Zeit und dessen Auswirkungen zu untersuchen bzw. Wechselwirkungen aufzuzeigen. Los primeros s?ntomas se dan durante la adolescencia o al inicio de la edad adulta. A pesar de que entre la comunidad cient?fica predomina la idea de que su origen se debe a una suma de factores biol?gicos y ambientales, muchos especialistas consideran que la ra?z de estos trastornos hay que buscarla en la infancia. Adem?s, se comportan y hablan de una forma rara, tienen ideas alejadas de la realidad, son un poco paranoicos. No hay que confundir este trastorno con la esquizofrenia, porque los esquizot?picos est?n mucho m?s conectados con la realidad y no tienen alucinaciones.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Trastorno paranoide de la personalidad: los afectados interpretan casi siempre las conductas de los dem?s como malintencionadas. Son personas muy desconfiadas, irascibles y suspicaces. Intentan comportarse de forma fr?a y distante con los dem?s porque tienen miedo de que ?stos descubran sus presuntos puntos d?biles y se aprovechen de ellos.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Grupo B (trastornos dram?ticos, emocionales o err?ticos)＜/p＞ ＜p＞Trastorno antisocial de la personalidad: personas sin respeto por las normas sociales o los derechos de los dem?s. Muchas caen en la delincuencia. Tampoco tienen ning?n sentimiento de culpa. Est? considerado como uno de los trastornos de la personalidad m?s dif?ciles de tratar porque la persona que lo sufre dif?cilmente reconocer? que tiene un problema. Antiguamente, eran conocidos como “psic?patas”. Es frecuente que durante la ni?ez sufrieran alg?n tipo de abandono emocional.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Trastorno l?mite de la personalidad: uno de los trastornos de la personalidad m?s graves porque presenta una alta tasa de suicidio. Se caracteriza por inestabilidad emocional, impulsividad, autoagresiones, intentos de suicidio, sentimientos cr?nicos de vac?o y miedo al abandono real o imaginario. Afecta a tres mujeres por cada hombre. Las personas que lo sufren suelen caer en conductas de riesgo como promiscuidad o consumo de drogas. Algunos estudios se?alan que es frecuente que hayan sufrido alg?n tipo de abuso sexual durante la infancia.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Trastorno histri?nico de la personalidad: los histri?nicos act?an de una forma muy exagerada y dram?tica porque quieren llamar la atenci?n. Pueden ser personas perfectamente integradas, con muchas relaciones sociales, con ?xito laboral. Son seductores, est?n muy pendientes de lo que los dem?s piensan de ellos, necesitan ser el centro de atenci?n, son muy expresivos y exagerados con las emociones (los dem?s suelen tener la sensaci?n de que son muy afectados) y cambian de estado emocional de forma muy r?pida en funci?n de sus intereses.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Trastorno narcisista de la personalidad: los narcisistas tienen fantas?as de grandiosidad y ?xito, necesitan llamar constantemente la atenci?n, no pueden empatizar con los dem?s, necesitan su admiraci?n y son muy pretenciosos y soberbios. Son muy sensibles al fracaso y la cr?tica. Esperan ser admirados. Y, si no se sienten as?, creen que les envidian. Este trastorno puede ser muy grave y es muy dif?cil de tratar.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Grupo C (trastornos ansiosos o temerosos)＜/p＞ ＜p＞Trastorno de la personalidad dependiente: quienes lo sufren necesitan de manera desesperada a los dem?s para satisfacer sus necesidades psicol?gicas, incluso para tomar las decisiones m?s sencillas y tienen mucho miedo a ser abandonados. No les gusta sentirse solos. Es uno de los trastornos de la personalidad m?s habituales.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Trastorno de la personalidad por evitaci?n: la caracter?stica principal es un patr?n general de inhibici?n social y de sentirse inadecuado o fuera de lugar. Sufren por su aislamiento. Los afectados son muy sensibles a las opiniones que los dem?s tienen de ellas. Pero no responden con rabia si sienten rechazadas, sino que optan por la sumisi?n. Necesitan gustar a los dem?s, tienen p?nico a hacer el rid?culo y evitan el contacto social en la medida de lo posible. Este trastorno se parece mucho a la fobia social, por lo que a veces es dif?cil de diagnosticar.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Trastorno de la personalidad obsesiva-compulsiva: estas personas est?n muy preocupadas por las reglas, el orden y el control. Tienen muchas dudas y preocupaciones y son muy perfeccionistas, escrupulosos y obstinados. Se quejan de que se sienten invadidos por pensamientos que no pueden controlar. Se da con m?s frecuencia en los hombres. Suelen mejorar de forma m?s r?pida y evidente que el resto de los trastornos de la personalidad.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Conocer mejor las caracter?sticas personales de pacientes con trastorno de personalidad puede ayudar a un tratamiento m?s personalizado en el que se aborden variables psicol?gicas que ayuden al individuo a mejorar sus emociones. Impulsividad, sentimiento de vac?o, miedo al abandono real o imaginario, relaciones interpersonales inestables, crisis de identidad e inestabilidad afectiva. Estos son los s?ntomas m?s caracter?sticos del trastorno l?mite de la personalidad, que aprisionan a m?s de un 2% de la poblaci?n en una vida llena de sufrimiento. Un trastorno l?mite de la personalidad (conocido en ingl?s como “borderline”) consiste en un patr?n generalizado de inestabilidad en las relaciones personales, la propia imagen y las emociones, as? como una intensa impulsividad.＜/p＞ ＜p＞El trastorno l?mite de la personalidad es una de las enfermedades mentales m?s frecuentes. Conlleva un importante sufrimiento, no s?lo para la persona que lo padece sino tambi?n para sus familiares y amigos. Es necesario diagnosticarlo e iniciar un tratamiento para prevenir posibles conductas autolesivas que pueden acabar en un intento de suicidio. Las personas que lo sufren tienen serias dificultades para adaptarse a un trabajo o ser constantes en los estudios, a menudo tienen problemas con las drogas o el sexo compulsivo y sufren ataques de ira, entre otros.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Por todo ello, con frecuencia, se les ≪tacha≫ de gamberros o adictos. Este trastorno se reconoci? de manera oficial como diagn?stico en 1980 y es dif?cil de detectar para los especialistas porque se puede confundir con hiperactividad, problema de abuso de sustancias o trastorno de ansiedad.＜/p＞ ＜p＞El problema radica en la personalidad, que es la forma de actuar, la manera de relacionarse con el entorno e interpretarlo. De este modo, si no est? bien construida, todas las ?reas de la vida se ven afectadas y se tambalean. El trastorno l?mite de la personalidad se puede diagnosticar en la adolescencia, aunque lo m?s frecuente es detectarlo al inicio de la edad adulta, a partir de los 18 a?os, cuando la personalidad deber?a ser m?s estable. Es m?s habitual en mujeres (un 70% de los casos) que en hombres.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Sus causas no est?n definidas por completo. Por un lado, se cree que puede haber una vulnerabilidad biol?gica o un problema funcional entre las ?reas cerebrales que regulan las emociones y las zonas m?s racionales.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Las personas que sufren este trastorno son muy impulsivas, con gran inestabilidad emocional y que establecen relaciones de much?sima dependencia. Un dato alarmante es que uno de cada diez pacientes con trastorno l?mite de la personalidad se suicida. ≪Un intento de suicidio es uno de los principales motivos por los que acuden a urgencias. A un afectado le deja la pareja y, en un impulso, por ser incapaz de controlar la frustraci?n, se autolesiona. La autodestrucci?n es un peligro real≫. Uno de los s?ntomas caracter?sticos del trastorno l?mite de la personalidad es el sentimiento cr?nico de vac?o. Los afectados manifiestan que se sienten perdidos y que no saben qui?nes son. Para sus allegados puede ser dif?cil de entender, sobre todo, en el caso de las personas adultas.＜/p＞ ＜p＞El hecho de que un ni?o o un adolescente maltrate a un perro o a otro animal no siempre debe considerarse como una simple travesura, sin m?s trascendencia. Hay muchas formas de maltratar a un animal. Adem?s de infligir dolor f?sico, el hecho de no cuidarle o no cubrir sus necesidades b?sicas puede causar en el perro secuelas que acaben con su vida tras un terrible sufrimiento. Un significativo porcentaje de los homicidas y asesinos en serie de personas fueron torturadores de animales durante su infancia o adolescencia.
