The army, in collusion with her husband’s employers, drive her, terrified children in tow, from their home ? but she makes herself a new home. At other points she is a witness to bloody massacres of miners, and brutal government repression of strikes and labor meetings, but she keeps speaking up, as a death warrant hangs over her head.Indefatigable in her conviction and sense of dignity, Chungara first raises her voice alongside 70 other women in the Housewives Committees, and in spite of every effort on the part of the military to intimidate her into submission and silence, her testimonies eventually reach the world stage, echoing in the halls of the U.N. Denn noch immer gibt es L?nder, in denen sich die B?rger nicht frei ?u?ern k?nnen, weil sie mit politischer Verfolgung, Strafe, Freiheitsberaubung oder gar mit k?rperlichen Sanktionen rechnen m?ssen. Doch erstaunlicherweise gibt es auch in Staaten, in denen grunds?tzlich nichts zu bef?rchten ist, Menschen, die nicht zu Wort kommen, die sich kein Geh?r verschaffen k?nnen. In den meisten F?llen scheitert es an unzureichender Ausbildung in Lesen und Schreiben. Dar?ber hinaus sind Medien in ihrem Lebensraum ?berhaupt nicht oder nur in geringem Ma? vertreten, so dass ihnen auch die M?glichkeit der m?ndlichen ?u?erung verwehrt bleibt. Sie sind praktisch von der Au?enwelt abgeschnitten und niemand h?rt, was sie zu sagen, was sie erlebt und was sie erlitten haben - abgesehen von den Nachbarn und Mitmenschen in ihrem direkten Umfeld. Im Laufe der zweiten H?lfte des letzten Jahrhunderts hat sich jedoch eine literarische Gattung entwickelt, die diesen Menschen - ?berwiegend den B?rgern der unterprivilegierten Bev?lkerungsschicht in Mittel- und S?damerika - erstmals eine Stimme gab. Sie hatten pl?tzlich die M?glichkeit, ihre Sicht der Dinge darzulegen, ihre Geschichte zu erz?hlen und die Welt dar?ber aufzukl?ren, welche K?mpfe sie t?glich austrugen, mit welchen Problemen sie allt?glich konfrontiert waren und unter welchen sozialen Bedingungen sie lebten. Diejenigen, die bisher stumm waren und nahezu stillschweigend in Umst?nden lebten, die f?r die restliche Weltbev?lkerung nur schwer vorstellbar waren, kamen endlich zu Wort. Und man h?rte ihnen zu. Um diese literarische Gattung, die so genannte literatura testimonial, soll es in der vorliegenden Arbeit gehen. Dabei sollen das Wesen dieses Genres und seine Entwicklung, jedoch vor allem die kritischen Aspekte in diesem Zusammenhang thematisiert werden.
