While responding to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, medical staff faced the pressing situation of limited medical supplies, which led Professor Wang Chen to the suggestion of converting large-scale public venues such as exhibition centers and indoor stadiums into shelter hospitals to receive large number of patients, as this involved minimum time and monetary costs. The five essential functions of Fangcang Shelter Hospitals (isolation, triage, provision of basic medical care, frequent monitoring and rapid referral, and essential living and social engagement) enable shelter hospitals to receive patients with mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19, and have the greatest impact on isolating the source of infection and expanding the area's health-care capacity.Two of the first three Fangcang Shelter Hospitals set up in Wuhan were redeveloped by Zall Group Property from existing buildings, while Zall Foundation was responsible for the provision of essential medical supplies and logistical support to facilitate the running of these shelter hospitals. In total, the two shelter hospitals have been instrumental in diagnosing, treating and curing 3663 patients. Knowledge Sharing in Chinese Hospitals Identifying Sharing Barriers in Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Collaboration【電子書籍】[ Lihong Zhou ] 楽天Kobo電子書籍ストア	＜p＞This book aims to identify, understand and qualify barriers to the patient-centred knowledge sharing (KS) in interprofessional practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western Medicine (WM) healthcare professionals in Chinese hospitals. This collaboration is particularly crucial and unique to China since, contrary to Western practice, these two types of professionals actually work together complimentary in the same hospital. This study adopted a Grounded Theory approach as the overarching methodology to guide the analysis of the data collected in a single case-study design. A public hospital in central China was selected as the case-study site, at which 49 informants were interviewed by using semi-structured and evolving interview scripts. The research findings point to five categories of KS barriers: contextual influences, hospital management, philosophical divergence, Chinese healthcare education and interprofessional training. Further conceptualising the research findings, it is identified that KS is mostly prevented by philosophical and professional tensions between the two medical communities. Therefore, to improve KS and reduce the effects of the identified barriers, efforts should be made targeted at resolving both types of tensions. Investment costs for new buildings or the replacement of capital goods are payed by the federal states. However, these allowances of investment are on the decrease for years, which leads to investment backlogs in hospital (Augurzky et al. 2009, 93). This implies that hospitals are supposed to invest, but their funds are too small to do so. In the long run, the economic efficiency suffers because it cannot compete with other hospitals regarding the technological progress (Augurzky et al. 2009, 13). The introduction of DRGs [Diagnosis Related Groups], the basis of calculation for hospitals, lead to an increasing pressure of working economically. In the old system, every day of a patient's stay in the hospital was refunded based on same-day hospital and nursing charges. In the new system, only occupant days within a predetermined period of hospitalization. The preterm discharge or a discharge exceeding the period of hospitalization results in discounts in payments, which often do not allow cost recovery (Eveslage 2006, 37-39). Accordingly, hospitals are under pressure to treat their patients fast and discharge them within the preset period. This requires efficient and economical operations. An additional burden is the growing competition in the sector of ambulatory care. As a result of the strong medical progress, more and more operations, which were formerly bound to be performed in hospital, can nowadays be done ambulant. Another innovation in the German health care system are medical service centers [Medizinische Versorgungszentren]. They will soon be capable to take over the primary health care in rural areas and replace major hospitals there, because they are able to work more economic (Augurzky et al. 2009, 162). On the whole, the pressure on hospitals increased steadily in the past years.
