Oktober 1953 in Lehnitz) war ein deutscher Arzt, Schriftsteller und Dramatiker, der sich besonders durch seine politische und literarische Arbeit einen Namen machte. Friedrich Wolf wurde als Sohn eines j?dischen Kaufmanns geboren. Er studierte von 1907 bis 1912 Medizin, Philosophie und Kunstgeschichte in verschiedenen deutschen St?dten und promovierte 1913 in Medizin. W?hrend des Ersten Weltkriegs diente er als Truppenarzt und entwickelte sich zum entschiedenen Kriegsgegner. Nach dem Krieg engagierte er sich politisch und wurde Mitglied des Arbeiter- und Soldatenrats in Dresden. Wolf war ab 1928 Mitglied der KPD und verfasste zahlreiche politisch engagierte Werke. Sein bekanntestes Drama, "Cyankali" (1929), prangerte das Abtreibungsverbot des § 218 an und l?ste eine breite gesellschaftliche Debatte aus. Neben seiner literarischen T?tigkeit arbeitete er als Arzt und engagierte sich f?r die Rechte der Arbeiterklasse. Nach der Macht?bernahme der Nationalsozialisten emigrierte Wolf 1933 in die Sowjetunion, wo er weiterhin literarisch aktiv war und f?r Radio Moskau arbeitete. W?hrend des Spanischen B?rgerkriegs versuchte er, als Arzt an den Internationalen Brigaden teilzunehmen, blieb aber in Frankreich. Nach Beginn des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurde er in Frankreich interniert, konnte jedoch 1941 mit sowjetischer Hilfe nach Moskau zur?ckkehren. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg kehrte Wolf nach Deutschland zur?ck und engagierte sich in der DDR kulturpolitisch. Er war Mitbegr?nder der DEFA und der Deutschen Akademie der K?nste. Zudem diente er von 1949 bis 1951 als erster Botschafter der DDR in Polen. Friedrich Wolf starb 1953 an einem Herzinfarkt und wurde auf dem Zentralfriedhof Friedrichsfelde in Berlin beigesetzt. Wolf hinterlie? ein umfangreiches literarisches Werk, das durch seinen politischen und sozialen Einsatz gepr?gt ist.
