HAN: Her Ruthless Mistake 50 Loving States, Delaware【電子書籍】[ Theodora Taylor ]

This ruthless crimelord's kindness comes with a price. Possession. Complete and utter.

JAZZ: I'm a determined dreamer--at least I used to be. I put all my dreams on hold and withdrew every penny from my savings account to pay the debt my ailing father owes to a local gang.

Except, according to the gang's slimy leader, even my life savings won't be enough to pay the enormous debt my dad's accrued. And his leering gaze lets me know exactly how he wants me to pay the balance.

A ruthless stranger offers to pay my remaining debt. He's a tattooed crimelord, a cold, beautiful animal who regards me with dead eyes. The price for this kindness? Possession. The complete and utter kind.

You're mine, he informs me when I ask him why he did it, leaving me to figure out....

Is he my unexpected savior or my ruthless mistake?

HAN: I learned from a young age that women aren't worth much. They don't stay. They're not loyal. They weaken you, then disappear at the first sign of trouble.

That's why I don't do relationships--especially with good girls who have no place in my criminal underworld.

I should stay away from her. Let her pay me back some other way.

But I can't. She's golden sunshine wrapped in a sexy little package, lighting up all the dark parts of my heart. And when she asks me why I did it, two words rise without thought or reason.

You're mine.

She thinks I'm the mistake, but it's the other way around. I don't do relationships. I don't even let women spend the night. But this one...

She has me breaking all of my rules.

XD MAGAZINE VOL.05 ISSUE OF MISTAKE(プレイド)【電子書籍】[ XD MAGAZINE編集部 ]

Vague: The Great British Mistake Post Punk Fanzines: 1979-84【電子書籍】[ Tom Vague ]

"Vague" began, as it happened, a few months after "England's Dreaming" left off: in the post-punk diaspora of late 1979. Turning nineteen years old in sunny Salisbury, Tom Vague began by featuring local punk bands as well as all the major acts that passed through or nearby - the Banshees, the Cure, the Ruts, Joy Division, Red Krayola, the Gang of Four, Clash, Adam and the Ants. It wasn't a pure punk fanzine - it was too late for that - but matched punk irreverence with the overall feeling of experimentation that still existed at the end of the 1970's. Over the first few issues, "Vague" continued to work out the possibilities of independence - in all senses of the word - that had been pioneered in 1976 by Mark Perry (fanzines) and in 1977 by Buzzcocks and the Desperate Bicycles (seven inch records). The whole point about fanzines and DIY singles was that you didn't have to do what everyone else did. So "Vague" mixed up reviews with Perry Harris' cartoons and what Tom describes as 'stream of consciousness prose' that reflected the chaos and the intimacy of the moment. Vague followed the post-punk strands - from the Ants to Goth to Crass to Psychobillies and Positive Punks - through to the mid 80's, and Tom's commentary precisely dates the changes. In the notes for Issue 12, July 1982, he observes that 'it was around this time that the number of exaggerated Mac Curtis haircuts increased around London and Theatre of Hate indirectly started the punkabilly cult, which consisted of disillusioned young Ants fans and reformed punky types, largely Londoners. Suddenly everyone started to look like Kirk Brandon'. Tom Vague recorded the present without any thought to posterity. Because he noted the moment so thoroughly, he became a historian, providing a record of Punk's most obdurate and persistent strands. In documenting the chaos of the 1980's from within, he has preserved a forgotten narrative of that decade: not Live Aid, New Romantic Pop or Thatcher, but a dogged and anarchic strand of youth culture that persisted into the flowering of rave in the early 90's. This collection should be read by any serious enquirer into the period." (Jon Savage : 2017)

Godel's Mistake The Role of Meaning in Mathematics【電子書籍】[ Ashish Dalela ]

Gödel's incompleteness theorem is a foundational result in mathematics that proves that any axiomatic theory of numbers will be either inconsistent or incomplete. Turing’s Halting problem is a foundational result in computing proving that computers cannot know if a program will halt. Gödel’s Mistake connects these theorems to the question of meaning. The book shows that the proofs arise due to category confusions between names, concepts, things, programs, algorithms, problems, etc. The book argues that these problems can be solved by introducing ordinary language categories in mathematics.

WHERE THE SOLUTION LIES

The solution to the problem, the author argues, requires a new approach to numbers where numbers are treated as types rather than quantities. To view numbers as types requires a foundational shift in which objects are constructed from sets rather than sets from objects. Since sets denote concepts, this shift implies that objects are created from concepts. This also changes our view of space-time from linear and open to hierarchical and closed. In this hierarchical description, objects are symbols of meaning, rather than physical things. The author calls this theory the Type Number Theory (TNT) and shows that the type view of numbers is free of Gödel’s Incompleteness and Turing’s Halting Problem.

HOW THIS BOOK IS STRUCTURED

Chapter 1: Mechanizing Thoughtーprovides an overview of mathematical, philosophical, linguistic and logical issues that preceded Gödel’s and Turing’s results and shows that the problems encountered in mathematics have a wider undercurrent extending into other areas of science.

Chapter 2: Gödel’s Mistrickーdiscusses Gödel’s Incompleteness Theorem and Turing’s Halting problem and shows how their proofs rest on category mistakes. The chapter also connects the theorems to the issues of sentence and program meaning, with implications for fields such as artificial intelligence and others. This sets up the motivation for alternative views about numbers and programs that can be free of the paradoxes that arise without semantics.

Chapter 3: Mathematics and Realityーthe chapter discusses the Platonic notion of what mathematics is, which keeps ideas and things in separate worlds, and argues that they exist in the same world. The need to bring them together changes our view of objects, space-time, numbers and programs. Now, objects are symbols and numbers and programs are types. The implications of this view to the Cartesian mind-body problem and Platonic separation between ideas and things is discussed.

Chapter 4: Numbers and Meaningsーdevelops the intuitions about numbers as types by interpreting various classes of numbersー natural numbers, zero, negative numbers, irrationals and rationals, and imaginary numbersーin terms of meanings. The chapter concludes by defining the term Type Number Theory (TNT).

Chapter 5: Mathematical Foundationsーthe chapter critiques some foundational ideas in mathematics including logic, set theory and number theory and shows why the very notion of an object as something logically prior to ideas is logically inconsistent. The author argues that numbers are outcomes of distinguishing, and distinguishing requires distinctions. The foundation of mathematics is therefore not in the idea of objects and collections but in the nature of distinctions.

The book concludes with a discussion about how distinctions originate in the nature of observation and the foundation of mathematics can therefore be seen in the fundamental properties of consciousness that divides and classifies in order to know.

It's so natural that we hardly stop to think about it. Yet even the smartest and most experienced among us make frequent and predictable errors. So, what makes a good decision? Should we trust our intuitions, and if so, when? How can we avoid being tripped up by cognitive biases when we are not even aware of them?

In You're About to Make a Terrible Mistake!, strategy professor and management consultant Olivier Sibony draws on dozens of fascinating and engaging case studies to show how cognitive biases routinely lead all of us -- including even the most renowned business titans -- into nine common decision-making traps. But instead of rehashing the same old "debiasing" techniques that fail managers time and again, Sibony explains that the best way to avoid the pitfalls of cognitive bias is to craft an effective decision-making architecture in your organization -- a system of techniques and processes that leverage collective intelligence to help leaders make the best decisions possible -- and provides 40 concrete methods for doing so.

Distinctive in the clarity and practicality of its message, You're About to Make a Terrible Mistake! distills the latest developments in behavioral economics and cognitive psychology into actionable tools for making smart, effective decisions in business and beyond.

"Succinct, accurate, and even-handed. Sorry Not Sorry Dreams, Mistakes, and Growing Up【電子書籍】[ Naya Rivera ]

Funny and deeply personal, Sorry Not Sorry recounts Glee star Naya Rivera's successes and missteps, urging young women to pursue their dreams and to refuse to let past mistakes define them.

Navigating through youth and young adulthood isn't easy, and in Sorry Not Sorry, Naya Rivera shows us that we're not alone in the highs, lows, and in-betweens. Whether it's with love and dating, career and ambition, friends, or gossip, Naya inspires us to follow our own destiny and step over--or plod through--all the crap along the way. After her rise and fall from early childhood stardom, barely eking her way through high school, a brief stint as a Hooters waitress, going through thick and thin with her mom/manager, and resurrecting her acting career as Santana Lopez on Glee, Naya emerged from these experiences with some key life lessons:

Sorry:
- All those times I scrawled "I HATE MY MOM" in my journal. The Mistaken History of the Korean War What We Got Wrong Then and Now【電子書籍】[ Paul M. Edwards ]

Much of the history of the Korean War has been misinterpreted or obscured. Intense propaganda and limited press coverage during the war, coupled with vague objectives and an incomplete victory, resulted in a popular narrative of partial truth and factual omission. Battlefield stories--essentially true but often missing significant data--added an element of myth. Drawing on a range of sources, the author, a Korean War veteran, reexamines the war's causes, costs and outcomes.

Mistakes were made (but not by me): Why we justify foolish beliefs, bad decisions and hurtful acts【電子書籍】[ Carol Tavris, Elliot Aronson ]

Why do people dodge responsibility when things fall apart? Why the parade of public figures unable to own up when they make mistakes? Why the endless marital quarrels over who is right? Why can we see hypocrisy in others but not in ourselves? Are we all liars? Or do we really believe the stories we tell? Renowned social psychologists Carol Tavris and Elliot Aronson take a compelling look into how the brain is wired for self-justification. When we make mistakes, we must calm the cognitive dissonance that jars our feelings of self-worth. And so we create fictions that absolve us of responsibility, restoring our belief that we are smart, moral, and righta belief that often keeps us on a course that is dumb, immoral, and wrong. Backed by years of research and delivered in lively, energetic prose, Mistakes Were Made (But Not by Me) offers a fascinating explanation of self-deceptionhow it works, the harm it can cause, and how we can overcome it.
"Fascinating."
