 Deep Venous Thrombosis, A Simple Guide To The Condition, Diagnosis, Treatment And Related Conditions【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ] 楽天Kobo電子書籍ストア | ＜p＞Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot (thrombus) in a deep vein (venous) leading to the heart, normally in the legs.＜br /＞ The blood clot may either block the vein completely or partially.＜br /＞ Deep venous thrombosis is a blood clot that forms in a vein deep inside a part of the body.＜br /＞ DVT normally happens in a deep leg vein, a larger vein that extends through the muscles of the calf and the thigh.＜br /＞ It can cause pain and swelling in the leg and may result in complications such as pulmonary embolism.＜br /＞ This is when a piece of blood clot breaks off into the bloodstream and obstructs one of the blood vessels in the lungs.＜br /＞ DVT and pulmonary embolism together are known as venous thromboembolism (VTE).＜br /＞ Clots can form in superficial veins (called superficial thrombophlebitis or phlebitis) and in deep veins because of poor blood flow or stasis.＜br /＞ Blood clots in deep veins (Deep Venous Thrombosis) need immediate medical care.＜br /＞ These blood clots are dangerous because they can break loose and then travel through the bloodstream to the lungs causing a pulmonary embolism＜br /＞ Deaths resulting from complications of DVT are not something new.＜br /＞ Blood clots most often form in the calf and thigh veins, and less often in the arm or pelvic veins.＜br /＞ DVT does not cause heart attack or stroke.＜br /＞ 3 major factors have a part in the development of DVT:＜/p＞ ＜ol＞ ＜li＞Venous stasis＜/li＞ ＜li＞Damage of the vein＜/li＞ ＜li＞Higher coagulability＜br /＞ In some cases of DVT there may be no symptoms.＜br /＞ DVT can cause:＜br /＞ a. D-dimer test＜br /＞ A specialized blood test called the D-dimer test is used to detect pieces of blood clot that have been broken down and are loose in the bloodstream.＜br /＞ Treatment of DVT＜br /＞ a. Prevent pulmonary embolism (PE),＜br /＞ b. Reduce morbidity,＜br /＞ c. Prevent or minimize the risk of developing the post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS).＜br /＞ An anticoagulant will keep more clots from forming or old ones from getting bigger.＜br /＞ These drugs do not dissolve clots already there.＜br /＞ That is accomplished by the body’s natural blood system.＜br /＞ Other anticoagulation drugs have subsequently been added to the treatment over the years such as vitamin K antagonists and low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH).＜br /＞ IV Heparin is normally prescribed first because it works immediately to prevent further clotting.＜br /＞ After this treatment the patient may also need to take oral warfarin to prevent another blood clot forming.＜br /＞ Heparin is available in two different forms:＜/li＞ ＜li＞Standard (unfractioned) heparin＜/li＞ ＜li＞Low Molecular Weight Heparin (LMWH)＜br /＞ LMWH is normally given as a subcutaneous injection＜br /＞ LMWH works differently from standard heparin.＜br /＞ It contains small molecules which mean its effects are more reliable and the patient will not have to stay in hospital and be monitored.＜br /＞ Both standard and LMWH can cause side effects including:＜br /＞ a. We were induced to do so by several reasons. First of all we would point out the clinical significance of venous valves. In the pathogenesis of a number of widespread diseases, such as varicose veins or the post-thrombotic syndrome, venous valves are involved as the underlying cause or at least a factor contributory to the symptoms. According to Taheri et al. these venous diseases occur ten times more frequently than arterial obliterations. Incompetence of venous valves also plays a causal role in varicocele, the most frequent cause of male infertility. But not only pathogenetic reasons induced us to write this book. In more recent times there has been a growing tendency to reconstruct functional valve disorders therapeutically; several surgical methods have been developed, which are critically reviewed in this book. It was our aim to sum up existing knowledge with respect to structure and function of venous valves and to expand that knowl edge by findings of our own. Examinations of semi-thin sections and unilayered en-face preparations have hardly been published so far, and systematic studies of the ultrastructure by electron-microscopy were not to be found in the literature.
