Economic Wealth Creation and the Social Division of Labour Volume II: Network Economies【電子書籍】[ Robert P. Gilles ]

‘This is the second book of a two-volume set that continues Adam Smith's work, using the tools mathematical, experimental, and behavioural economists have developed since 1776. As in the first volume, markets are not the central organising principle. Instead, attention centres on social institutions and the division of labour that they enable. The book studies this via the endogenous division of labour that existing institutions help form. The first book in the series examined this problem deeply, resorting minimally to formal mathematical modelling; the second volume is where the formal modelling blossoms. General equilibrium theory meets network theory and receives a breath of fresh air, including a new viewpoint on economic inequality, the newly resurgent bane of capitalism. What I said for the first volume applies to this second volume equally: if you care to understand the economy, this book belongs to your bookshelf.’
Dimitrios Diamantaras, Temple University,Philadelphia, USA

This textbook introduces and develops new tools to understand the recent economic crisis and how desirable economic policies can be adopted. Gilles provides new institutional concepts for wealth creation, such as network economies, which are based on the social division of labour.

This second volume introduces mathematical theories of the endogenous formation of social divisions of labour through which economic wealth is created. Gilles also investigates the causes of inequality in the social division of labour under imperfectly competitive conditions. These theories frame a comprehensive, innovative and consistent perspective on the functioning of the twenty-first century global economy, explaining many of its failings. Suitable reading for advanced undergraduate, MSc and postgraduate students in microeconomic analysis, economic theory and political economy.

The Wealth of Nations & The Theory of Moral Sentiments【電子書籍】[ Adam Smith ]

Adam Smith's 'The Wealth of Nations & The Theory of Moral Sentiments' is a groundbreaking work that delves into the realms of economics and ethics. In 'The Wealth of Nations,' Smith explores the principles of free-market capitalism and the division of labor, laying the foundation for modern economics. His detailed analysis of the market system and its implications on wealth generation makes this book a seminal piece in economic literature. In parallel, 'The Theory of Moral Sentiments' delves into the ethical foundations of human behavior, examining the role of sympathy and moral judgments in society. Smith's elegant prose and astute observations make these texts not only informative but also a pleasure to read, setting a standard for economic and philosophical discourse. The juxtaposition of these two works showcases Smith's deep understanding of human nature and the interconnectedness of economic and moral principles. This dual exploration provides invaluable insights into the complexities of society and the individual's place within it. I highly recommend this book to readers interested in the intersection of economics and ethics, as well as those seeking a comprehensive understanding of Adam Smith's seminal contributions to Western thought.

#1 New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today Bestseller!

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind reveals the missing link between wanting success and achieving it!

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to get rich easily, while others are destined for a life of financial struggle? Is the difference found in their education, intelligence, skills, timing, work habits, contacts, luck, or their choice of jobs, businesses, or investments?

The shocking answer is: None of the above!

In his groundbreaking Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, T. Harv Eker states: "Give me five minutes, and I can predict your financial future for the rest of your life!" Eker does this by identifying your "money and success blueprint." We all have a personal money blueprint ingrained in our subconscious minds, and it is this blueprint, more than anything, that will determine our financial lives. You can know everything about marketing, sales, negotiations, stocks, real estate, and the world of finance, but if your money blueprint is not set for a high level of success, you will never have a lot of moneyーand if somehow you do, you will most likely lose it! The good news is that now you can actually reset your money blueprint to create natural and automatic success.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind is two books in one. Part I explains how your money blueprint works. Through Eker's rare combination of street smarts, humor, and heart, you will learn how your childhood influences have shaped your financial destiny. You will also learn how to identify your own money blueprint and "revise" it to not only create success but, more important, to keep and continually grow it.

In Part II you will be introduced to seventeen "Wealth Files," which describe exactly how rich people think and act differently than most poor and middle-class people. Each Wealth File includes action steps for you to practice in the real world in order to dramatically increase your income and accumulate wealth.

If you are not doing as well financially as you would like, you will have to change your money blueprint. Unfortunately your current money blueprint will tend to stay with you for the rest of your life, unless you identify and revise it, and that's exactly what you will do with the help of this extraordinary book. According to T. Harv Eker, it's simple. If you think like rich people think and do what rich people do, chances are you'll get rich too!

The Necessity of Finance: An Overview of the Science of Management of Wealth for an Individual, a Group, or an Organization【電子書籍】[ Dr. Anthony M. Criniti IV ]

The fundamental principles of finance have very simple origins and one can trace their roots to the beginning of human civilization. But as a subject, finance has evolvedーparticularly in the past fifty yearsーinto an extremely complicated and potentially confusing form. The Necessity of Finance: An Overview of the Science of Management of Wealth for an Individual, a Group, or an Organization seeks to provide a comprehensive and concise orientation for those seeking a more understandable presentation of the complex nature of finance. Using everyday terms and readily grasped concepts, Dr. Anthony M. Criniti IV, a former financial consultant and current university-level finance professor, sets out to detail the necessity of finance; to clarify the definition, purpose, and goals of both finance and economics; to explore financial concepts in a straightforward manner; and to stimulate interest and understanding that will lead to ongoing investigation.

Finance, although highly interrelated with many subjects, is a separate field of study that is often confused with other areas, most notably economics. With world wealth accumulating to its highest point in history, the necessity to understand this subject on its own terms is more crucial than ever. The Necessity of Finance highlights the need to engage with finance as a separate science, clears up the confusion with related subjects, and coins the word "financialists" to identify the scientists in this dynamic field.

Starting with a discussion about the need for finance, and moving forward to establish the definition, purpose, goals, and history of both finance and economics, presenting in the process the basic terminology necessary to understand these subjects, The Necessity of Finance will equip the beginner to intermediate level financial student with vital information and a clear approach for continued study. In addition, its unique perspective will be of value to the advanced student and the practitioner. Topics addressed include: What is the difference between money and wealth? What is the difference between investing and saving? What is risk and return? Major financial questions are also analyzed, including: What kinds of investments exist? What are the different techniques for selecting investments? What role does ethics play in finance?

Finance is not an easy subject for the average student. While The Necessity of Finance does not replace the need for required college textbooks, it will serve as an indispensible supplemental learning tool that may clarify expectations of future financial journeys, whether it’s learning in a university or actively investing in the marketplace. In this extremely useful overview, Dr. Criniti demonstrates that finance is a very promising science that will benefit those who commit themselves to its study and practice.

Derivatives and the Wealth of Societies【

Derivatives were responsible for one of the worst financial meltdowns in history, one from which we have not yet fully recovered. However, they are likewise capable of generating some of the most incredible wealth we have ever seen. This book asks how we might ensure the latter while avoiding the former. Looking past the usual arguments for the regulation or abolition of derivative finance, it asks a more probing question: what kinds of social institutions and policies would we need to put in place to both avail ourselves of the derivative’s wealth production and make sure that production benefits all of us?

To answer that question, the contributors to this book draw upon their deep backgrounds in finance, social science, art, and the humanities to create a new way of understanding derivative finance that does justice to its social and cultural dimensions. They offer a two-pronged analysis. First, they develop a social understanding of the derivative that casts it in the light of anthropological concepts such as the gift, ritual, play, dividuality, and performativity. Second, they develop a derivative understanding of the social, using financial concepts such as risk, hedging, optionality, and arbitrage to uncover new dimensions of contemporary social reality. In doing so, they construct a necessary, renewed vision of derivative finance as a deeply embedded aspect not just of our economics but our culture.

The Millionaire Fastlane Crack the Code to Wealth and Live Rich for a Lifetime【電子書籍】[ MJ DeMarco ]

Is the financial plan of mediocrity -- a dream-stealing, soul-sucking dogma known as "The Slowlane" your plan for creating wealth? You know how it goes; it sounds a lil something like this:

"Go to school, get a good job, save 10% of your paycheck, buy a used car, cancel the movie channels, quit drinking expensive Starbucks mocha lattes, save and penny-pinch your life away, trust your life-savings to the stock market, and one day, when you are oh, say, 65 years old, you can retire rich."

The mainstream financial gurus have sold you blindly down the river to a great financial gamble: You've been hoodwinked to believe that wealth can be created by recklessly trusting in the uncontrollable and unpredictable markets: the housing market, the stock market, and the job market. This impotent financial gamble dubiously promises wealth in a wheelchair -- sacrifice your adult life for a financial plan that reaps dividends in the twilight of life. Accept the Slowlane as your blueprint for wealth and your financial future will blow carelessly asunder on a sailboat of HOPE: HOPE you can find a job and keep it, HOPE the stock market doesn't tank, HOPE the economy rebounds, HOPE, HOPE, and HOPE. Do you really want HOPE to be the centerpiece for your family's financial plan?

Drive the Slowlane road and you will find your life deteriorate into a miserable exhibition about what you cannot do, versus what you can. For those who don't want a lifetime subscription to "settle-for-less" and a slight chance of elderly riches, there is an alternative; an expressway to extraordinary wealth that can burn a trail to financial independence faster than any road out there.

Why jobs, 401(k)s, mutual funds, and 40-years of mindless frugality will never make you rich young.

Why most entrepreneurs fail and how to immediately put the odds in your favor.

The real law of wealth: Leverage this and wealth has no choice but to be magnetized to you.

The leading cause of poorness: Change this and you change everything.

How the rich really get rich - and no, it has nothing to do with a paycheck or a 401K match.

Why the guru's grand deity - compound interest - is an impotent wealth accelerator.

Why the guru myth of "do what you love" will most likely keep you poor, not rich.

And 250+ more poverty busting distinctions...

Demand the Fastlane, an alternative road-to-wealth; one that actually ignites dreams and creates millionaires young, not old. Change lanes and find your explosive wealth accelerator. Hit the Fastlane, crack the code to wealth, and find out how to live rich for a lifetime.

The Origin of Wealth The Radical Remaking of Economics and What it Means for Business and Society【電子書籍】[ Eric D. Beinhocker ]

Over 6.4 billion people participate in a $36.5 trillion global economy, designed and overseen by no one. How did this marvel of self-organized complexity evolve? How is wealth created within this system? And how can wealth be increased for the benefit of individuals, businesses, and society? In The Origin of Wealth, Eric D. Beinhocker argues that modern science provides a radical perspective on these age-old questions, with far-reaching implications. According to Beinhocker, wealth creation is the product of a simple but profoundly powerful evolutionary formula: differentiate, select, and amplify. In this view, the economy is a "complex adaptive system" in which physical technologies, social technologies, and business designs continuously interact to create novel products, new ideas, and increasing wealth. Taking readers on an entertaining journey through economic history, from the Stone Age to modern economy, Beinhocker explores how "complexity economics" provides provocative insights on issues ranging from creating adaptive organizations to the evolutionary workings of stock markets to new perspectives on government policies. A landmark book that shatters conventional economic theory, The Origin of Wealth will rewire our thinking about how we came to be here--and where we are going.

Benjamin Franklin's writings have inspired millions throughout the years, and his advice on how to earn and save money is timeless. "The Way to Wealth" was an essay written by Benjamin Franklin in 1758. He was on a journey to England and resented the time wasted waiting for the ship to sail (it was anchored in New York for 2 weeks) that he began collecting adages and advice from 25 years worth of publication of Poor Richard's Alamanac (Spelled Alamanack at the time). Because the poor man couldn't afford books, he would spend his earnings on yearly almanacs filled with astrology, jokes, stories, and other works of amusement. In Poor Richard's Alamanac, Franklin copied some of the more popular pieces of advice, slightly modified, and also included original works of his own

A Wealth of Common Sense Why Simplicity Trumps Complexity in Any Investment Plan【電子書籍】[ Ben Carlson ]

A simple guide to a smarter strategy for the individual investor

A Wealth of Common Sense sheds a refreshing light on investing, and shows you how a simplicity-based framework can lead to better investment decisions. The financial market is a complex system, but that doesn't mean it requires a complex strategy; in fact, this false premise is the driving force behind many investors' market "mistakes." Information is important, but understanding and perspective are the keys to better decision-making. This book describes the proper way to view the markets and your portfolio, and show you the simple strategies that make investing more profitable, less confusing, and less time-consuming. Without the burden of short-term performance benchmarks, individual investors have the advantage of focusing on the long view, and the freedom to construct the kind of portfolio that will serve their investment goals best. This book proves how complex strategies essentially waste these advantages, and provides an alternative game plan for those ready to simplify.

Complexity is often used as a mechanism for talking investors into unnecessary purchases, when all most need is a deeper understanding of conventional options. This book explains which issues you actually should pay attention to, and which ones are simply used for an illusion of intelligence and control.

Keep up withーor beatーprofessional money managers

Exploit stock market volatility to your utmost advantage

Learn where advisors and consultants fit into smart strategy

Build a portfolio that makes sense for your particular situation

You don't have to outsmart the market if you can simply outperform it. Cut through the confusion and noise and focus on what actually matters. A Wealth of Common Sense clears the air, and gives you the insight you need to become a smarter, more successful investor.

The Wealth of Nations is a clearly written account of economics at the dawn of the Industrial Revolution. The work was a landmark work in the history and economics as it was comprehensive and an accurate characterization of the economic mechanisms at work in modern economics. The book includes Smith's assessment of the mercantile system, his advocacy of the freedom of commerce and industry, and his famous prophecy that "America will be one of the foremost nations of the world".

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Adam Smith was a Scottish moral philosopher and a pioneer of political economy. One of the key figures of the Scottish Enlightenment, Smith is best known for two classic works: 'The Theory of Moral Sentiments', and 'An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations'. The latter, usually abbreviated as 'The Wealth of Nations', is considered his magnum opus and the first modern work of economics. Smith is cited as the 'Father of Modern Economics' and is still among the most influential thinkers in the field of economics today.

Smith studied social philosophy at the University of Glasgow and at Balliol College, Oxford, where he was one of the first students to benefit from scholarships set up by fellow Scot, John Snell. After graduating, he delivered a successful series of public lectures at the University of Edinburgh, leading him to collaborate with David Hume during the Scottish Enlightenment. Smith obtained a professorship at Glasgow teaching moral philosophy, and during this time he wrote and published The Theory of Moral Sentiments.
